  1. Awesome! thanks! I will do.
  2. Hey all! Anyone know if there are group rides that happen out of karkloof? I am looking for a group that rides regularly out of there that i can tag along with. Preferably trail riders that dont mind a few tech sections!
  3. I have tried with greg minaar cycles here in PMB, but no luck yet. They are waiting for Spesh SA to get back to them. I will cast my net further afield!
  4. Thanks mate, I will give them a call.
  5. Nah, not rusted at all. For some reason all the grease on my bike is a metallic orange after my last service.
  6. Dude, that would be amazing. Let me find out if they are the same.
  7. Howdy all. I was cleaning my bike and i noticed that one of the bolts that attaches my linkage to the frame is missing. I still have 1, and it seems like its the same one for the left and right. I have asked at a specialized store and they checked up the serial number and then told me that i would not have much luck. So, can anyone reccomend a replacement?
  8. I have not ridden with the club there per se, spent loads of time riding the trails out there tho. Ome really nice stuff on the 23km route! I have also found some gems at cascades which has been really cool to ride.
  9. Thanks! I am really keen to try the bachelor and just the general area around renes rumble as well. What is the area close to the fire tower like at present? (Gums lower, kathryns etc.)
  10. I am planning on riding at karkloof sometime this month and am looking for reccomendations for fast fun flow trails with jumps that are currently running clear. Trailforks is great. But karkloof is monstrously complicated so i have no idea whats nice to ride at present. I have hit isikhova which was loads of fun and i would love more like that! Any reccomendations on routes and how to link them up would be hugely helpful.
  11. Thanks for the input all! Do you know how to get onto the watsapp group? I checked out trailforks and it seems that everything at Karkloof is currently closed?
  12. Howzit All. I recently moved to Hilton from Jhb and I am surrounded by new trails to ride! Its a brilliant problem to have..... I have ridden in mountain homes, grace college trails, cascades and a little bit of the howick mtb trails from 11 karkloof. The problem I have is that there is just so much trail around, but a lot of it is not in great nick and I don't know what links together in a logical way. So I am looking for recommendations! I like riding fast flowy single track with medium sized jumps. I have found such at Cascades but would love to expand my area a bit. I would love to know which sections are to be recommended? Also, does anyone know of any group rides with a similar focus to mine that I could tag along with?
  13. The Spruit fairy has started hiring manual labour to maintain and fix the trails so he has set up an account so that anyone who wants to contribute to the maintenance can. We are just not allowed to post the bank details on a public site and I no longer have them. Maybe PM Robodog or Patches as they might have the details (or know how to get them) or, Keep an eye open for two guys working on the trails. they wear blue overalls and have gumboots and good digging equipment. The one guys name is melvin (as far as I recall). if you stop and chat to them they will give you a business card with the banking details.
  14. Ah 139 Posted already. Join the facebook group mountainbikers do it downhill. Lots of good okes there that would be more than willing to help you out.
  15. Longer fork, wider bars, shorter stem and some form of chain retention (NW chainring or a chainguide) and you should have something that is more than qualified for a south african enduro. (as long as the bar ends are lost)
  16. My old Lumpstumbler. 150mm revelation, Narrow wide chainring, dropper post.
  17. yeah star nuts strip really easily.
  18. Yeah. I came across them on Sani too. Surprisingly they are actually 4X4s! those guys dont seem to slow down for anything!
  19. Dude. Keep the stumpy! the resale value on it has already tanked if its a 26er and an 09 model and replacing it with something of similar spec and ability new will cost you at least R30k. rather spend a bit of cash on changing bits and making it yours. I changed the fork (Now have a 150mm revelation) widened the Bars and Shortened the stem, replaced the front chainrings with a narrow wide and got a dropper seatpost. Totally changed the feel of the bike and I love it. That bike of yours is super capable, uber light and amazing. then, if you still have an itch for a new bike you have all these awesome bits that you can swap over onto a seriously sweet build.
  20. are you the original frame owner? if so then just get it replaced. Giant have a lifetime warranty on all their frames but will only honour it if you are the original owner.
  21. what were his reasons for staying away from steel for a dual suss? the DMR bolt is a steel dual suss frame....
  22. follow someone into the jump. then you will at least know how fast to go.
  23. 3m make a large dressing that is breathable, waterproof and lasts for about three days per dressing. I used it on my elbow and forearm when I had the staples in. wonderful stuff. I could swim with it on. available from dischem.
  24. So I have been toying with the idea of replacing the front fork on my 08 stumpy. the stumpy has 120mm of travel front and rear and a head angle of about 68.5. The old fox on it has an a2c of about 490mm and the revelation has an a2c of about 530. so that would slacken the head angle to about 67 degrees wouldn't it?
  25. I always send mine there for stuff i cant do. they do a really good job!
