  1. im not a huge hdr fan, but interesting pics. i would tend to disagree tho, i think overcast and early morning is ideal but maybe thats just me.... My attempt at capturing a few at the supermoto on the weekend past http://www.geecee.co.za/geecee1.jpg http://www.geecee.co.za/geecee2.jpg http://www.geecee.co.za/geecee3.jpg

  3. with reference to braces, not sure if this being the case here. but by using the braces you are effectively changing the "weak" point. just like guys with knee braces break femurs, the neck braces cause strain on lower vertebrae. the issue tho is that, yes you may injure yourself with or without the brace. the difference being the severity, like a blown knee vs a broken leg, or a broken back or paralysis

  11. got awesome service from them, followed up by a phonecall to make sure everything was as i wanted. big thumbs up to them. price for my shock was about 20% cheaper than my LBS.
  12. haha was meaning the OP. Just think he has the wrong impression on what shocks are capable of and the intricasies of frame geo etc....
  13. what bike is this. 150mm is plenty travel for a lot of things...
  14. i sent in 2 bicycles for a service just before argus this year. i was told i needed a new BB, i told them not to bother, i checked it and it was fine. what i was most shocked with tho, is i didnt get any report back as to the state of my spokes (it was a borrowed bike that hadnt been used in a while) all the spoke 'nuts' (no idea what to call them) had started cracking and coroding. also on the other bike while i loaded it for transport i found lose spokes?, lose spokes of all things?!? i wont go back to them again, i gave them another shot when i broke a spoke when coming off, i needed bladed spokes they said they had i took it in, they didnt contact me or anything i phoned and they said they dont have stock, so i told them id fetch the bike later. i got a call saying that they DID have the spoke. i went to fetch the bike and noticed they went and put a standard spoke on anyway seems to be a lot of people like this. this was a well known shop that has been involved in the industry for a LONG time
  15. i must add i have the pike u-turn 140mm with Motion control, so maybe thats my advantage
  16. yeah i guess the uprated coil is the way to go. are you sure your rebound is set right, even if you bottom it should feel like you're gonna get high sided, i wouldnt think im around 82 without kit and camebak and come from a bmx dirtjump and motocross background, cant say i have experienced what you say. hahah but then again i dont think too much about the technicalities

  20. i will post up some pics this afternoon, if you can maybe have a look then i'd appreciate it... i had heard that fox and rockshox have the same dimentions, manitou is smaller. i figured i could just use the old shocks mounting hardware, but on a quick look they seem smaller than what is required for the new one. Thanks for the replies
  21. i had crap service. i paid the premium rate for express service 3-5 days from the states. tracked it, their distribution goes USA to Europe the to SA (just the way it works) it had been sent to the wrong depo in europe and got sent back to USA it then got sent back to europe and then on to me (a few days late) i phone to enquire (ups Sa) and apparently on their system there was no sign of it going back to the states. contact USA and they said yes there was a mistake but the service is a guaranteed service and i could get a refud. enquired about refund they said i must contact ups SA, local guys pretty much said its not up to them blah blah blah. i had to get the company i bought the item from to complain and then it would need to go through the channels, after speaking to the company and getting positive response from them, i heard nothing more, i didnt bother as i had the item and i wasnt going to fight over a few hundred rand on a 10k purchase
  22. okay so after damaging the shaft on my mongoose teocali's rockshox mc3.1 i have recieved a replacement which i had chosen out of a very few options. it came in the form of a rockshox monarch rt3. now i assumed i could use the same mounting hardware as its the same manufacturer and roughly same spec shock. to my dismay on looking at the shock yesterday it seems the mounting holes are slightly bigger on the new shock. are there some standards here for the mounting hardware and are they easily available or do i have to get some custom made? i have contacted the mongoose guys to see what they can do, but no reply as yet
  23. are you bottoming out?
