Very good idea. These trails do exist now, unfortunately all the land on the left of the road is reserved for horse riders. There is a horse trail that goes up near the top of fairy garden that is super fun to ride down. Apparently. . .

@ morewood mad. I ride twice a week on average. 104 x r50 is 5200 rand a year. Way out of my reach. But i see your point about management. Unfortunately sanparks sees mtb as a nuisance more than a business opportunity i think

Right all dh riders. How about a little fun ride next sunday morning. We can race down the snake trails full blast. And then head over to the switchbacks for a couple of dh runs cos it is actually longer than the dh track while the xc guys ride up " our" dh track. No prizes for guessing who will have more fun. Actually that sounds like a good idea. I am gonna do that sunday morning 7 am start.

Hey morewood mad. All the things you mentioned are in the pipeline. It just takes time. Trail maintenance is done by volunteers who actually spend their own money on materials , transport etc. Signage coming soon i think. Till then ride safe.

According to pain or shine permission has been granted to install one way signs from below the berm up. Dont know where the signs are coming from though. Till then just watch out for david 16v and co cause they must be right. At least they ride down the road so as not to block the singletrack too much. Dirt roadies as the editor of tread mag calls them. Ha ha.

I was moaning about the guys riding up the dh trail. And i was talking about the level above the berm. And i ride in a t shirt. Next time you are there come say hello. What would happen if all the dh riders suited up and started bombing the snake trails? They are allowed to. But i always wait till those trails are clear before going down. If someone wants to donate signage i will put it up myself. I am now sorry that i started this thread. I think i will just shut up and ride wherever from now on

I am not even a downhiller. I ride a hardtail ffs. What worries me is that there is gonna be a massive accident one day and the guys coming up are gonna be seriously hurt. Its only the , not my, 2 sections of dh track that is worrying. Notice how the dh guys dont ride down all the other single track. Or maybe i shouldnt give a s**t.

Dont want to start another war of words but yesterday i saw 4 guys riding up the dh track in tokai. Up the big berm like a lot of people wrongly do, but then they crossed the road and rode UP the next level of dh track. This is very dangerous for everyone. If you saw how fast the guys were going down there on saturday you would crap yourself!

Took a spin down the new track yesterday. Awesome. The two berms after the tabletop are so fast. Was laughing all the way down. Thanks everyone who used a spade . Well worth it.

Its my daughters birthday on sunday so i have a kids party to organise. But thats not a no. Better check with the wife.

48 is still fast. If you dont think so then try jumping off at that speed. If you get hit by a car doing 48 kmh you WILL die . It only seems slow in a car. . .

In the interest of science i shall put a computer on my bike and see how fast i can go . Now to find a super steep hill with jeep track . Or even better, super smooth single track.

Over 80 on dirt does seem a bit fast to be true. I have done 79 on my dh bike on a tar road that was super steep. The brake discs were smoking afterwards and the front one turned blue.
