In the interest of science i shall put a computer on my bike and see how fast i can go . Now to find a super steep hill with jeep track . Or even better, super smooth single track.
Over 80 on dirt does seem a bit fast to be true. I have done 79 on my dh bike on a tar road that was super steep. The brake discs were smoking afterwards and the front one turned blue.
Why , you ask omega man? To find out thats why. I always go down the single track so was wondering how steep a jeep track needs to be to do 89 kmh on it. Dont have a computer on my bike to find out.
Sounds awesome. As for the third build day, there is an event on at contermans on the 14th august so try to avoid a date clash cos i really want to come help again .

Wow , so much slagging off going on here. Some xc guys can be real pricks. Some dh guys can be too. Just remember kids, whoever has the most fun on their bike is the winner. It aint no fashion show , its mountain biking.
The new track has claimed its first victim! Did the first drop , landed a bit skew, straight in to the hole where the big rock was moved. Bike stopped dead, over the bars and the bike hit me in the back of the head! Was classic. . .
Havent ridden the new track yet cos its not finished yet. Cant wait to though.walked up it today and it looks sick! Exept that one bit where there is a semi berm turning right into rock jump into left hand berm. That looks a bit tricky . You will have to jump to the right and turn left in the air at the same time.
I ride a singlespeed because. . . I snapped the hanger off my frame. I always used to ride it ss and put gears on once. Snapped the derailler clean off.
Inside foot off the pedal hovering just above the ground next to the front tire. Get your weight forward and let that back wheel get all loose. Thats the most fun way to corner i reckon. Fast too. The trick is in switchbacks like the new dh track, to get your foot back on in time to swap over to the other side. That new track is looking sweet. Cant wait for a bit of rain to bed it all in.
29er is not an upgrade from a 26er anymore than a dh bike is an upgrade from a trail bike. Horses for courses. Have you ridden a 29er much? If not try borrow one for a few rides and take it from there. Having said all that i ride a singlespeed so what do i know?
I got a maxxis ardent 2.4 super tacky in december. Put it on the back. By march it was semi slick and now all the side knobs have broken off. But superb grip while it lasted
