  1. I was gonna complement your mk2 gti cause i had 2 myself but your attitude sucks. If you only want to ride natural single track then no maintenance is needed. Ride up the old dh track if you can. Thats natural. Ride down it too if you know how. Never had a stock bike from a lbs .
  2. Dh whipping boy more like eh 16v ? I had an 8v once. Much nicer car.
  3. Why do some guys list there bikes and parts at the end of each post? Steel frame. 2 wheels. A crank etc
  4. The shocks these days are pretty good , air or coil. Air shocks one big problem was that as you use them they heat up, increasing the air pressure and giving a stiffer ride as you go faster. Not ideal. But rockshox seem to have got a cure for that and all the others will follow on. Look how many top dh racers go air these days. Although i think that a good coil is still best even if it weighs a few more grams. Hey we arent roadies after all
  5. Yes i have had the same problem. Thats why i love bikes. All the girls have to wear tight shorts
  6. David 16v going up the dh track met someone coming the other way perhaps?
  7. You weigh over 110 kg? So do I . Thats why I have a coil spring shock. But i think it will depend on rider style, the kind of shock etc. Although you can blow up a coil shock pretty easily if you are stupid about it.
  8. Yeah will take mine.
  9. See you guys tomorrow 8 30. I will be in a cream color isuzu bakkie with a white canopy. Says riverside on the back.
  10. So much for riding today, started 3 new sites today at work. Now i have to beg the wife for riding time tomorrow.
  11. Cycling is not allowed on any freeway. I guess the off ramps are to dangerous.
  12. I have a similar fork that i bought new for R3500 in 2006. It cant be worth much now. Maybe a grand or less depending on the condition of the seals and internals.
  13. What the hell is a pocket chainsaw? And could you run a chainsaw chain on a singlespeed? Anyone? That would be cool.
  14. Dude , if you are really keen to learn then get a spade, find some vacant land hidden away somewhere and build a jump. It doesnt matter if its 2 feet high and 3 feet long . Then jump it . When you have it nailed then add some more dirt. Then add a second jump . And so on. This is by far the best way to learn because you are building on a solid foundation ( the jump and the learning). The saying goes" the best builders become the best riders" . And its true. Thats how we all started. Well most anyway.
  15. Well seeing as how sunday ride is now a build day I will be riding on friday. The boss is away so i will be leaving work at 12 . Daneger , see you up there around 4? Anyone else keen look out for the tall guy on the white hardtail with dh forks.
  16. See you at the gate 8 30. Need to be home by 1 pm though. I see the weather is looking good for the weekend too. What about tools ? Bring your own spades etc I assume?
  17. 780 mm boo bars. 60 mm stem. Hard tail single speed. 170 mm fork. And it goes down hill like a rocket. Jumps like a startled rabbit. And climbs like am amputee. Ha ha, seriously though the wide bars help a lot. But I did hit a fallen tree on fairy garden on sunday. Nearly broke my finger.
  18. Have you got a chain saw?
  19. If you paint your bike brown then you dont have to wash it for the whole muddy winter. Just a thought. . .
  20. The constantia jumps are locked with chains on the jumps. Dont know the locals at all . As for directions, its tricky to explain. I found then by chance. There are secret jumps all over cape town. Just look for places that seem likely and poke around. Or go to g spot . Its rad!
  21. As for other jumps, there are trails in constantia that are massive as well as the legendary cammos in lakeside. I first rode cammos in 1995 and they are still there! Huge though. Further south there are smaller trails in Sun Valley . As well as a secret dh / jump track on black hill that i might share one day when it is finished!
  22. The U C T track is a lot of fun. Havent ridden there since last year though. Take your fitness with cos after a few decent runs you are knackered!
  23. Saturday suits me better. Afternoon preferably. I have a bakkie that we can go up in. Daneger , who cares about the rugby.
  24. Keep your weight over the front more so that the back end drifts out before the front tire loses grip. If you can do that well then you can corner fast on most tires. Try maxxis ardent super tacky on the front. Ridiculous grip but they only last a few months and then all the knobs fall off. The price of speed. . .
