  1. Tragic, it makes me feel sick
  2. What a great idea, lets hope it grows.
  3. What you can do is strip the Anthem for the fork and groupset, buy a 650b frame and wheels from the classified, or a chinese carbon and sell your frame and wheels on thehub. I just did that and loving my 650b trail bike.
  4. I am 156cm and weigh around 55kgs. If your gf wants a 29er then a hardtail is probably best, I still can't find a DS 29er that I fit on. Otherwise a 27.5 FS you should be able to get a regular guys frame in small. My bikes: 1 - Small Spez fate is ladies specific 29 HT and it climbs like a demon. 2 - Small Scott Genius 27.5 FS is a male frame and fits like a glove 3 - On one 26er SS I got the extra small frame, very happy with the handling of the x-small frame and glad I chose it over the small. Don't get her a frame that's too big, even if its a good deal/on special etc, she won't thank you for it.
  5. On an anthem the rear wheel won't be convertable but if the fork is a fox then the front is possible, for what its worth.
  6. Another concern about the LCHF diet is the role of animal proteins in colon cancer. I was at a diagnostics forum last year where Prof Luc Montagnier (Nobel winner for discovering HIV) and Prof Harald Zur Hauzen (Nobel winner for link between HPV and cervical cancer) both gave a presentations. Zur Hausen presented data on the role of beef in increasing incidence of colon carcinoma. Again long term studies are the key. The WHO has two long term studies up on their website both with show a role for diets low in animal fats: http://www.who.int/entity/chp/media/en/north_karelia_successful_ncd_prevention.pdf http://prevention.stanford.edu/ My take, as a pathologist - use comon sense, everything in moderation.
  7. Well done Nils. Considering the bad PR he has received on theHub over the years, this is a completely different side we are hearing about. - Apologies was thinking Neils of Neils wheels in plumstead. Sorry Nils.

Shame poor kid! This is the worst i have seen:
  9. Grrrrr, WHY girly! But its not a bad looking frame and I would be happy to ride one. It's like Blondeonabike said, its the pink on the white that makes the VIPA so hideous and such a cliche.
  10. For sure, I just got badly burned by an older set of Avids which caused me so much grief I ended up in tears. I am sure the new one are a vast improvement over the old Juicy's.
  11. Avids are like Landrovers - the second best day of your life is when you buy them. The best day of your life is when you sell them. And yes I have owned both a Landrover and Avids. The Landy still has a special place in my heart, the Avids have a special place in hell.
  12. Anyway, I very impulsively picked up a 650b trail frame with 150 mm fork off the hub about a month ago and built it up by stripping a 26er which had been long neglected. Not exactly the brand of my dreams but I am loving the long travel. So the finances are not going to upgrade my 29er HT to a FS just yet. (Please note its black)
  13. Aaagh, you didn't have to remove the one about it being that time of the month, it really didn't upset me. I found it kind of funny as it really just showed the poster to be rather primative. Anyway I really like Momsen brand and have been watching the VIPAs with envy. I incorrectly assumed (assumption being the mother of all F*&%& ups) that by advertising a Ladies VIPA they would have brought out a small 29er which I would actually fit on. That fact that they have just rebranded the original VIPA makes it all rather peculiar. And have have owned a pink bike - a giant T mobile, if Jan could ride it so can I. The sterotype of this bike just annoyed me.
  14. You are right, it could get worse!
  15. Why Why Why? What on earth went through their heads when they decided to do the decals for the ladies Vipa in PINK? Surely they could have asked a female who actually rides sigle track what colours would work? Anyone harcore enough to want this frame does not want to relive her 8 year old childhood fantasy of being a princess. The only way to make it less appealing would be to add a basket and streamers to the handle bars. And I so wanted this frame, sigh...
  16. I see there is also a Vipa lady...why the F#%* did they have to put pink decals on it? FFS, it looks like a bike that a guy buys for his girlfriend to take to a holiday beach house to ride on the tar roads during december holiday. Surely they could have asked a female who actually rides sigle track what colours would work? Damn That upsets me, anyway rant over, I will hit Tokai tomorrow on my black bike...
  17. Damn, Stellenbosch is insane these days. Good luck
  18. Has anyone managed to get the updated Garmin Express working on Windows XP? It recognises my Fenix but when I try link it to an account I get a message "Sorry we are unable to connect to Garmin services, please try again later", seems to be a common problem when I google it but none of the suggested fixes have worked. Any clever hubbers out there?
  19. That's what the tow truck drivers said to me, if she is found drunk her insurance won't cover her and we would have to claim the excess back from her personally - a long legal process.
  20. She was taken into the house within minutes of the accident before we even got out of the car. Our private security company was on the scene but they said they couldn't go into the house, were she was hiding, without the owners permision. At the station the cops said that fleeing the scene of an accident is a criminal offence and they will go "visit" her today, not sure if they will but I hope she is stressing big time.
  21. We T-boned a car last night which did a u-turn in front of us. Within minutes the driver, with her box of wine, was guided out of her car by the person who's house she had been visiting. She went into the house and her friend denied she was inside despite two witnesses confronting the home owner. Cops never arrived and eventually the homeowner signed for the tow truck to remove her vehicle. We did manage to get her name and phone number from the homeowner. About 90 min later we were at the police station reporting the accident when the driver phoned me, completely intoxicated, she wanted to know were her car is ! The cops were not interested in trying to find her last night so she will not have a drunk driving charge against her. Just glad we are okay and lucky we were not on the road bikes when this excuse for a human being decided to drive on the roads
  22. That's it, thanks!
  23. Can anyone give me the details of the place in Woodstock that refurbishes saddles? There was a thread a few months ago but I can't find it on a search.
  24. FFS. This is ridiculous
  25. Ahh the vajazzler, for "sparkle babies and fabulous looking herpes"....... no wait that's for clitter.
