  1. Just come back from achilles bursitis, 6 weeks, xtremely frustrating. Rest, anti-inflammatories, test it a little, repeat. You should know from walking if ur getting better, cycling was easier than walking but bottom line, take it easy.
  2. I got a room at Lalapanzi hotel, 28kms south of LT on the N1 that I booked on Sunday. 0155165455. Also got a spare bed in my room x
  3. Nice to see you helping our immigrant community AfricaWinsAgain
  4. Obviously Dracula is going to want to do the night ride
  5. Would be good to do a night ride there but would want to know whether there would be faster and slower groups.
  6. If you were up the front then you can say what you like - thank you for the ride. Just interesting for different points of view from places not too far away from each other. There were the three water bottles passed our way on one of the turns - caused a bit of shouting & the lorry with 2 trailers was bowel-loosening. Otherwise fun in the sun.
  7. You've got to party for your right to fight (as we said at the time)
  8. You get to my age and state of decrepitude and you dont realise you're shouting. Besides, I cant get close enough to the whippersnappers to get heard any other way. (ps... wasnt me)
  9. Hi Speedracer - I was also in the front B bunch and had a different perspective. Thanks for driving the pace, we averaged over 40 in the first hour and the overall average never fell below 37.5. It was hard for a lot of us for 1hr 50 til we turned for Settlers and got a slight tailwind. A few kms down that road and the pace dropped, after the 3 or 4 CL riders joined. Everyone must have decided to shut up shop for the day and cruised home the last 12-5kms. 30 of the 150 bunch finished together and I couldnt do better than be in the middle of that where everything was pretty routine and cool. The road surface gave some pause for thought but no alarm. The only incident and it was a bad one, was a lady and a guy going down a few metres from the line having hit a badly placed barrier. It was a big noise and looked grim. We finished 2:44 and I think A was 2:38 - nobody was racing hard as the winning time was 2:22. Leaves us with a seeding of 13, that'll do nicely.
  10. Sure, the incidence of petty theft is greatest amongst the really poor the world over.
  11. I think in these circumstances you need to give one back I dont think you're mates were silly, bikes locked on a trailer, then they steal the trailer - thats audacious. It had occurred to me when i went for Panorama that the Thule can be removed with bikes on pretty quick, but i've had it eighteen months before that penny dropped.
  12. Mystery Guy - maybe you have a point and possibly a clever name.
  13. Hi I got suckered into entering a hefty mtb event by a "friend" thinking "how hard can it be?" and started training last weekend. Well 4hrs round Suikerbosrand later, I reckon its bloody hard. I've done a lot on the road but have had a rude awakening spending time on my "Clunky Piece of ****" (CPS). So please, for starters, what is a good saddle to be going with & approx price? I got a Merida 60 or something and am riding the saddle it came with.
  14. So thread tite could read: "Cyclelab a bit annoying"; rather than "rip-off"?
  15. Weekends and public holidays only to start with and I believe they have 35km of trails.
  16. Agreed - I hardly ever find piles of cyclist crap on the ground......though there was that one race.........
  17. Hey, hey - this is a welcome addition to our training options: 2 May 2012 Dear Cyclists, Joggers, Walkers, Rollerbladers, Re: Sunday Morning Cycling! To those of you who took the trouble to reply to our email of 16th April 2012, a big thank you! The response was in favour of Sunday morning cycling (and jogging, walking, etc) at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. We are pleased to inform you that as from this Sunday (6th May 2012) we will open the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for cycling, jogging, walking, and rollerblading at R20 per person provided there are no other motorsport events previously booked for Sundays! The main Kyalami Gates will admit cyclists, joggers, walkers, rollerbladers, between the hours of 8am until 10:30am on Sundays
  18. I'll let him know as i doubt he is on the Hub, Mtbs rushing by can be quite a hazzard.
  19. I went down to check it out late morning on Saturday. You sign in at a gazebo in the car park by the sports pavillion then there's markings on the road to take you to the conservancy area gate. They had a mobile Seattle Coffee truck in the car park which was good. The organizers said theyd had +/-120 folk through for the morning, so a good start.
  20. "Waiting for it to get harder" Was asked this about it this week; would be the equivalent of achieving space travel in my Honda. & like the previous guy said, anything you say sounds a bit lame.
  21. You go that way and you run into Nancy Drew @ Bombela.I was more thinking the directions dont make sense starting at London Rd.
  22. Sounds great, but you dont want to be taking the London Road offramp.
  23. Rosemary Hill is a winner? Nice to see good things hapening to good people.
  24. Great!...... but, errr...umm......where is it?
  25. A green muamba
