  1. Nice to see the folk in George have got the inside track on the big international sporting conspiracies; gives the sheep a break as well, I suppose.
  2. I think the idea that these ladies werent trying, werent a team is really unfair & coming from armchair critics is a bit much. This is the Olympics and they are representing their country, of course they want to do their very best, but the SA environment doesnt set them up to be competitive internationally. And, yes, many of us like Cherise and wished she were there, but come on you South Africans, support the team that is there. & parading the negativity as "i'm being objective just saying what i see" doesnt wash.
  3. What should it go for ya think?
  4. 50% fat would give me a problem, but i have started with peanut brittle on LSD rides.
  5. Something I'm believing more and more said by Machiavelli (paraphrasing) - be generous to people or else treat them harshly, for men seek revenge for small injuries & dont recover from large ones. ie if you take a middle path you're going to upset someone along the way and they are going to have it in for you in a disproportianate way.
  6. You need to supplement your thread title with another "p"
  7. Milking salve from the vets people used to talk about
  8. Its my first mtb event, arent they all like this? Elsewhere on the thread its said that if you can do half the distance reasonably ok in training, then you can survive TB.
  9. I think there's quite a market for the things you have in mind
  10. Why would you want to? What does it say that you cant say another way?
  11. Ooh i'm not going to steal cookies from your jar, you got Iranian ancestry? Personally, I'd just go for the death penalty, once you get all "Dr Evil" about punishments & dragging things out, I think it corrodes the goodness in ordinary decent folk. Best to deal with it quickly and move on.
  12. Ok, if it makes you happy. You might also say its not a team sport but the Tour de France is a sport with teams. A bit of a hybrid. But your main point is that you're a Froome fan, and we all think his time will come.
  13. So?
  14. Or sports physio if they're different (cheaper?) Could be lots of things but if its a patella tendon strain you can keep that bothering you for months if you dont treat it / rest it right.
  15. The suggestion of going round the other way is interesting. Do you think, though that it is better to get through Nelspruit and off the N4 earlier rather than later in the day? I've done the last leg four or five times and theres never been a traffic problem, except sometimes support vehicles causing long tailbacks for regular users nearer to the start of stage 3.
  16. Yeah, but those were the days when there were birds on the Hub, I mean real women with photos and everything and they said stuff and we held hands & there were flowers. Not like the dark acid tank it is today.
  17. Please add to "Nice Business - who are you kidding?" thread
  18. It was just from an interview that he gave last week where he said he would win it, but with another team; but sure it could still be Sky.
  19. hahahahaha there's been some changes. I remember the Michelle and Jason days on the Hub (when it was mostly fields); nice couple, TCS etc. etc. Made a point of meeting them at a couple of races; & her mum is a top lady vet.
  20. This whole thing is bigger than CF. Sky Team have put together a juggernaut that is going to deliver the first British TDF winner ever, plus 2nd or 3rd place. Job done, nothing wrong. Its a boring tour and we all want some drama, but it aint gonna happen and it doesnt really matter. CF will get his ride next year as top dog, probably on another team, and i hope it provides some serious competition for BW and interest for the viewers.
  21. I ride my bikes 200mtrs to the end of the road to Tony Impey's, I wouldnt go any further. Finish and klar.
  22. I dont think most of us know our true motivations for most of the things we do. Even the way the OP is set up projects an image of how the person wants to be perceived, as does this reply about me. Safe to say, if you're competitive you werent loved enough by your parents, have a small willie & a need to prove yourself at every opportunity through deep-seated feelings of inadequacy & latent homosexuality. Me? I just love the feel of the wind through (whats left) of my hair ......and to WIN, WIN, WIN - ya hear me!!!! I WANT TO WIN
  23. Yeah you can go like that, but i feel undressed without shorts and a shirt.
  24. I want one......even if it doesnt work. @ Slowbee - I havent done one yet but me and Nancy Drew are a team for this year's TB.
  25. To me the OP is average age, doing the average training and coming halfway up the field - nothing wrong. I found 6 hrs training a week made a big difference in race results, probably because there is a big tail off with most people not willing to make that extra time to train. 4-5 hrs is two average rides at the weekend and a spinning class. But, as others have said, it depends on intensity.
