  1. Amazing because it's clearly signposted one-way at both ends of the trail.... .........errrr, isnt it?
  2. It was a Great Dane at the start of the ride; but the cyclist forgot he was there and 100kms later..........
  3. 28th/29th Dec for a week. Depends how the trains are
  4. The Hub meets a need for near-human contact & you get a lot more colour than: "Bicycles Bicycles and surfboards are generally not permitted on Metrorail trains except during special events." I thought surfing on trains was frownded on all year round. Thanks for clearing that up tho.
  5. Thanks guys, nice to wake up this morning and find that most of the **** has cleared from the thread whilst i was away - that doesnt happen very often. Thanks for the route info LL & if a couple of stops are dodgy then I'll re-think. Shame though, easy less fun way is to put the bike on the back of the car and drive to somewhere nice. Using the train on Argus day - I think its quicker to ride. Go over the mats, head to the station catch train, get off Jubilee Sq all in less than an hr? Would be funny tho.
  6. Oh yeah, good idea, sorry.
  7. Great, thanks. That's a weight off my mind then.
  8. No, it's like the idea that vegetarians live longer - it only seems that way.
  9. I like trains. I've got history with bikes and trains. I Want To Ride The Train .........and take my bike. It didnt seem like a lot to ask.
  10. We're only making plans for Nigel We only want whats best for them We're only making plans for Nigel Nigel needs this helping hand. (XTC 1979) So can i put my bike on the train in Germiston and get off in Nigel and ride round the tornado zone and back?
  11. Your hairdresser?
  12. Well it's a start, but i can't say that hope leapt up like a salmon in my heart; when I saw your name on the reply before i opened it.
  13. Well yeah but that's not the question DoubleS! How about if i take the stationary trainer to the train station, & exercise on the train to and from - will that get me an answer?
  14. Hi - i'm in Cape Town over Xmas staying in Claremont. I'd like to take my bike to Simonstown on the train and ride the peninsula from there. Is it possible, is it wise? Anyone done it?
  15. Smart Alecs (inc. me) aside - I'd love to hear how you get on with this because I cant see how a person can avoid being a pain to everyone else around them and a danger to themselves with it. All the website pictures are shot on wide (cycle) paths with no-one else nearby and no obstacles - gates, kerbs, bins, narrow gaps etc etc. You cant use it on public roads and you couldnt use it on something like the Spruit. You could cycle in a park, a deserted car park or on the beach; I wouldnt want to see this at Kyalami. Where were you planning to ride with your dogs?
  16. Went on Thurs for the 1st time in years & it was great. Left Kempton Park after 4 and no traffic hassles, same with Nancy Drew who came up the N3 from Linbro Park. Planning to go again on Monday. @Tjokkits - whats the arrangements at St Stithians?
  17. Make a well-known phrase or saying using the words: "for", "recipe" and "disaster". I cannot think of an appropriate situation for this arrangement, apart from a very large open field with no-one on it. Also hope it comes with a pooper-scooper.
  18. Big respect to you GB - tho' after a while you'll find you don't need 90kms of warm up and warm down; and the events will seem that much easier. You'll also get more time in bed ;-) Jeez - if only us middle-aged fellas had that energy, now that we know what to do with it!
  19. Yeah? That's nothing - here's me coming back from the Spruit this morning on my new creation (tho' it does remind me of an older idea ;-))
  20. I doubt it bwana - i was trundling around social-like in E Group .am guessin u were long gone by then and they hadnt unpacked by the time you got there
  21. I wouldnt have the heart to push through and take the 199 price if the salesman had to pay in, & it's clearly an ordinary mistake. But then maybe the manager was bluffing to dissuade you from going through with it. I remember ages back orderin an 8 quid bottle of wine and the waiter bought a 20 quid bottle by mistake. we made a fuss and the waiter had to pay in - he was distraught and we felt bad but it was his fault.
  22. 6th 'Shova for me and the no.s of timed finishers were up from the lows of 3,400 a couple of years ago to 4,000 this. With it being a rainy race from the start i'd say that it was a pretty good result. Road closure and great marshalling and a cool finishing run to the stadium make this very worthwhile. The water stops had coke, bananas and this 100 drink, so it was fine. At the end they gave me a can of deodorant - i dont think it was just me....err was it?
  23. Evenin' Nitro - i was mixing up two different things. The bargaining doesnt relate to the OP, I was just being a bit random.
  24. Seeing as this was the original question, I thought I'd answer it & say no, you cant forcibly take something from a shop regardless, life doesnt work that way! You could have set up a dispute & followed it through, but you accepted your money back so case closed. Now I know you will tell me on this next bit that i could have got 5 for R30 but this just to illustrate the point. I asked for mtb tube with slime in and they quoted me R120ea, marked price - I had from Nancy Drew that they might be R60 or so. I asked for the best price and got R80, asked again and got R70. All very nice & friendly but a bit of a pain; but ok, it was convenient to got there. I was surprised at how far they mark things up beyond what they will accept.
  25. You want a neutral zone where the start is narrow and winding or otherwise hazardous. It helps improve safety and fairness. The Carousel springs to mind where you come out of a car park onto the road over speed bumps and through an arch. Its logical to start racing once you reach the road, but it doesnt work that way, unless there is a lead car to control things. The F1 comparison was amusing.
