    The Dad thread

Congratulations!!! Truly the greatest moments in my life was the birth of my children, 4 years apart. The first day they were home, both crapped on me duirng bath time, basically marking me as their dad and those are my second fondest memories. You have some awesome times ahead, but between now and baby being born, just pay as much attention to your wife as you can. It's a grueling but exciting time for them, their feet needs rubbing, they need pickles and peanutbutter all at the same time, you can't be more than 50m's from a loo etc, just be patient! The Braun in Ear thermometer is a must, we still use it 16 years later. And some sage advice: you can't bank sleep, so get the naps in when you can the day the little one arrives. Good luck to you both, hope it all goes well!
  3. Correct, go Dutch when in doubt!
  4. Amen!
  5. That then explains the efficacy of my PB and Honey on Brown Bread sarmies on long rides!
  6. A shoe tree is dirt cheap, but if you really want to do the scan, print and stretch the shoe, why not. Like you I like a process that ends well. I did a quick search and they cost as little as a bid on BidorBuy or R300 for a fancy new one
  7. I'll approach that repair as follws; Drill a 1mm hole 8mm eaither side to line-up and glue in with super glue. Then line the two sections up, super glue, sprinkle baking powder and connect. Let dry, sand and paint. Other option is check the local opometrists
  8. That's pitch black dark LOL
  9. It happens easily. I do the morning bus run with the gannets, so my only opportunity is weekends and school holidays. Then time on weekends are restricted to school sport outings, sport tours etc etc. The bike sees very little action other than school holidays and an odd Sunday. So my KLR lives a charmed life in the garage, lightly used, mostly clean with a sprinkling of sawdust
  10. I give you a winners cup because there's no such button! May it always rain where your goats feed.

  20. It's been a long time since I posted any of my projects here, but this one was special to me and the people it went to. I volunteered to make an urn for friends recently deceased dad. Pai to kids Mr. Machado to all of us around him, a gentlemen and life long mariner. In 1986 when his wife passed away he constructed an urn from teak and for her with hearwood inlay. I decided to do the reverse of that with a Yellowwood with Imbuia inlay as a contrasting effect. Everything handmade except for the inlay groove which I used my palmrouter for... Splitting the raw plank and glueing up the panels for the top and bottom
  21. That looks like a kief spot for a camp. I also use to poses a magical tent like yours, pitch it and it rains...
