  1. Does a softer mat (eva mats) really make a difference? I IDT on a rock hard plastic floor (like you get in gyms) and most of my IDT sessions are 1h20+ and no matter what, the arse does feel it! I am very willing to invest in a softer mat if it gives that bit more movement/support and assist in making the IDT ride more arse friendly.
  2. Quite interesting - see the event dates next year are a few weeks earlier that the norm of middle May-ish. Wonder why?
  3. Absolutely agree - we were stopped a few times down Umko! Had to wait a while a few times for riding to get going again. But also understand they need to accommodate riders of all capabilities and skillsets. Also - you need to get nearly 1000 riders down Umko! No matter what they do - there will be some challenges. For the first time I thoroughly enjoyed the view whilst stationary! Never did that before!!
  4. What a magnificent event this year! I could not stop enjoying every moment. 1. Weather - perfect! Day 2 was bloody hot! 2. Route - perfect! No rain but we had our fair share of mud - specially Day 3. I must admit compared to previous years the route is not as smooth as before in many places but that is completely understandable given all the rain. My arse was finished! Still the work that was done by Farmer Glen and his team - there are no words!! The gratitude and appreciation is HUGE!!! Let's be honest - Iconic is a B*TCH!!!! Specially when a very young bloke on an e-bike came past me at a speed I though was not humanly possible! 3. Sleepover venues - perfect! Awesome food and perfectly organised. Although we did get a choccie milk on Day 1 at the finish - I do miss the good old days with unlimited vanilla milk drinks. Still - the rest was just the best!! 4. Finish - perfect! I finished and within minutes someone collected my bike and took it for a wash! What a pleasure!! Kudos to Farmer Glen and team - you have outdone yourselves - AGAIN! Thank you!
  5. Yikes - that is a sizeable mud pool! 😗 I can see myself going left or right there... Hoping too it will remain dry-ish! I do not mind some mud - it is normal. Just hate riding in the rain and soooooooo want that Umko drop to be clear! Few things in the MTB-world more beautiful than that!
  6. Forum Subject Updated - so the event is ON and is one week away! I am super excited. I have followed the Joberg2C closely and as per video the route does look quite nice! At this stage - and probably too early to see as accurate - the weather on Thu/Fr looks rainy! I so hope that changes as my last Sani Day 2 (Umko drop) got cancelled due to weather. So really want a dry Sani with a good Umko drop! Training (or lack thereof) pretty much done! Just a few easy rides between now and then.
  7. I always ride reactive. I want the video to adapt to my riding speed and I like to see how I ride in comparison to the person that took the video (i.e. If I ride @ 1.2 I know I am faster than the rider). I have used challenge(competition) a few times to ride against myself (previous rides) or other riders but found the loading times to find other rider's time a bit too slow. I also use the bike computer instead of the OSD - just prefer that layout. I run my FulGaz on an Apple TV 4k AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY! Much cheaper than a computer and its 4K.
  8. Did the Full Cape Town Cycle Route the other day - was brutal (107km)! Just set your streaming quality accordingly if you do not pre download your routes. For 4k streaming you need good band width - and a 4K device(screen).
  9. I also wanted this choice. Good luck in finding a Rekon tyre! Maybe now there is stock but I could not find a 2.35 Rekon a few weeks ago..ANYWHERE! Settled on Aspen Race 2.35 Front and Rekon Race 2.25 back. Doing Sani next week so will see how it performs on some serious "switchy" single tracks
  10. Most of these notifications you can disable - so you can comment but would receive no notifications for other comments.
  11. Good point and I guess quite possible. Many of the people I follow or who follow me do run. I just don't and really get annoyed with the long list of running challenges I need to scroll through.
  12. 😟😭 - Tx! Guess it is a matter of time before we start seeing ads!
  13. I am a cyclist - not a runner, rower, climber, hiker - just a cyclist. Now every time I open Strava I have to scroll through pages of challenges for activities I am not interested in - specially running! Is there any way I can tell Strava to limit challenges to say - ONLY cycling?
  14. Same here - deeply and utterly annoyed - it is the same as Netwerk24 App - the app is riddled with ads - yet if you want to use you still pay - and still get hundreds of annoying ads! I will not pay for cyclingnews - sorry!
  15. My gut too thinks they may reroute parts onto district roads that have been destroyed/cannot be fixed - they too cannot afford more cancellations. It will be the end of many if they do (even if it is the last Joberg2C ever). We might miss some awesome sections but that is par for the course I guess. Let's see what happens. Holding thumbs!
  16. Exactly - spot on! And an additional thought - many homes including guest houses were affected - if not destroyed. Roads are gone! All of this cannot humanly be fixed within a month (or two weeks for Joburg2C). There is a lot to consider - it is so much more than just water flowing to the ocean.
  17. It is not about the water - 🙄 It is about trails/paths possibly completely and utterly destroyed by the water and the ability it fix by then. They are only human after all.
  18. Very much so...I hope organizers will communicate timeously.
  19. Wow - I have family in Ballito and the videos and pictures I receive exactly where they stay absolutely breaks my heart. Houses ..GONE! The damage is incomprehensible. My heart goes out to each and every individual affected! Holla Trails apparently is close to non existent - closed indefinitely. It makes me wonder if the Sani2C will continue? I can only assume most trails closer to the coast has been totally destroyed.
  20. Yup agreed - I have connected my PC to a 42" 4k TV in my pain cave! The FulGaz 4k Videos looks amazing. The big display is a pleasure - but I struggle to justify the price for a graphics card to get Zwift in 4K. I just do not think the difference in quality is worth the price. Looks like the cheapest card to give you 4K Zwift will be around R5k. Rest of my PC is fine specs wise.
  21. Read an interesting article today: Zwift on PC: The Ultimate Guide to Running Zwift at Its Very Best | Zwift Insider Graphics cards have unfortunately become ridiculously expensive. Prices have increased on avg 80% - 100% in last 16 months. I still use my very old GT 1030 and although I suspect the graphics can be better - I am happy. Probably better not to know what it could look like!
  22. Very very much appreciated. I am ordering right now!
  23. Tx a million - I had no idea the S just implies non titanium. I guess the ti version is a 1 or 2 grams lighter - not sure why on such a small component will they distinguish on backplates. Unless there is a better cooling affect on titanium?
