  1. i'm going to add this: But if stressed then the bike is under engineered for purpose. Light weight rider(68kgs), no fall, no baggage. And it’s marketed suitable for bikepacking so weights could be far higher
  2. Thats our view. But it appears ENVEs argument has merit. Bummer. The bike is insured so at least we are covered there. R10k to ship the frameset to RSA. CBR have indicated its very fixable, so now to weigh up total costs to ship and repair or to dump the frame in france and move on. The bike store in France is happy to hold it 1 week while we figure things out - so some luck there
  3. Ok. I get what your saying. Would it then only manifest 850km later? The bike was transported in one of those new Thule bike bags, the one where both axles are bolted into a allu base. The entire axle area is then inside a solid plastic lower case, so no chance of anything hitting that area of the bike. The rest of the bike has the wheels either side of the frame in that bag. Saddle and seatpost are removed to fit
  4. 850km of riding on the bike before it failed? Also have comprehensive pictures from day one of the trip showing zero damage to the bike. Dad's Facebook blog proves helpful here Take a look at the pictures, there's no damage to any other part of that bike. I'm sure the ole man would have noticed smashing a frame hard enough to crack it? A stone hitting that area is extremely unlikely right? Not bashing your thoughts or anything, just talking through our logic and asking people's thoughts
  5. What's your thoughts gents? ENVE is not accepting this as a warranty claim. They have offered a crash replacement frame for EUR2000. Side note, my dad is riding across france with this bike. So it failed 2 weeks into a month long trip. We took the crash replacement because if we try to fight their decision the rest of his holiday would be lost. We plan on fighting the decision and getting the crash replacement costs refunded. Total mileage on the bike before failure: By Dad is France : 851km By Dad in RSA: 381km By me in RSA: 63km Total: 1295km So bike is for all purposes brand new. All components are new. Our view is the paint damage is on the outside of the seats stay, the side it would flex towards as the stays bow in that direction on this frame. If it took a knock on the stay it would have pushed inwards causing paint to come off on the inner side. Thoughts?
  6. Not to self - outsurance is full of it
  7. you really cannot go wrong with HUNT. excellent wheels great support to - even in RSA i'm not sure where they are built, but i'd take a set of HUNTS over ENVE every single time. much better QC at Hunt. as a side, i see MICHE also do a set of 27mm internal width wheels. i dont have any experience with MICHE but they have been around a long time - worth looking at
  8. I'm looking at bringing in a couple allied able bikes for our store. Official clearance is 57mm or 2.25 tires. Pm me if you have any interest
  9. anyone else suffering with the software crashing? i'm on a 2023 macbook pro - might be a mac issue
  10. Its a common issue with the lab. Items are mislabelled so the system shows as having stock - but when you find the goods 9 times out of 10 the label is correct, the item is just not what the label says it is. this is the case with more in depth items like BB's where there are many standards and sizes - so someone who does not know better makes mistakes when uploading them to their system. i always call ahead and ask them to physically check the stock is correct before i buy
  11. I brought in 2x bikes, one bike came with crown race. the other - they forgot. the picture is of the bike they remembered on. the other bike is missing the race. so trying to find that locally so build the 2nd bike up
  12. Hi all, any idea where I can buy the following shim? Its for a tapered fork using a Deda Headset. I just need the shim. Without it I cannot put my bike together . Its the little aluminum bit
  13. Not sure if this helps Little AI enhancer
  14. Nail. Head. Deep wheels look sexy but lack the compliance of shallow wheels. In every test we've ever done the ENVE AG25 wheels knock the snot out of everything else when it comes to comfort
  15. Hammerhead Karoo 3

  18. I will never understand CTCT seeding. last race i did was two years ago 947. before that 2020 CTCT and yet i still somehow got into 1B. not complaining about it at all, but somehow doesn't seem right. managed a 2h58 ride. legs blew out at chappies and i watched the front guys ride away while trying to stave off cramps - had a really enjoyable ride. Aas an eye opener when guys from C1 and D1 came past the front of B1 at Misty Cliffs!
  19. i had the same issue with a 520 and a 530 unit i had. gave up on garmin and moved to hamemerhead. no fix for it. i tried everything. the 130 plus i have now seems ok. same with my fenix - no issues painful and irritating i only moved back to garmin due to the better live tracking and safety - keeps the wife happy. the hammerhead is a vastly better unit.
  20. Word on the street is these are not being stocked readily due to limited tire compatibility. that said. i will likely have a set of either the 303 XPLR S or the 303 XLRP SW landing in the coming month or so
