Depends where you are in the race. For the racing snakes there are potato, chocs, water, coke etc For the other okes, nothing. They usually run out! Take your own and you will not have to stop.
  2. I have a bakkie with canopy, racks and tent on the canopy. Have to drive from Durban so we have a backup vehicle already if somebody will drive it back for me. Have tools etc. Lets flipping do it!!!!!!!!!
  3. Yip, exactly. Not quite a box but a tent. All good. You get so tired so why pay for something you do not really need? My 20K worth...........
  4. 20K!!!!!!!!!!!! I could tour the whole of SA with that. If that is what it costs to ride your bike then count me out. I can do it cheaper on my own for the fun of it. Thought we could hang something together here. I did Cape Town on R400.00 so this is very far away from anything like even R5 000.
  5. Damn. Just dropped Wendel a mail. So that is bad news on the shoulder and on the ride then. How difficult will it be to arrange a touring ride?
  6. Interested in a "social" tour to Durban. Back of the pack stuff. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

    Chain knocking

I am in for Durban and will pay now. BTW-one of the few who does not do joints. If there are enough guys (who don't do joints) and pay up front I think we may get it together? edit - disjointed
  8. Great!! And the motorists will obey the cyclist lane rules as they are now. More people to be mowed down without any possible help from the incompetent police and malfunctioning law society. More propaganda for the masses I say? (Sorry, bad day at the office)
  9. Looks great. Just did an upgrade to the 800 last week. Just thinking, upgrade on an upgrade? Are the maps not the same though?
  10. Yes, maybe, price, model .......thanks
  11. Just do it! Ant slick 'cos they are as cheap as chips. You will be thankful.
  12. They seem to be all over the country. They are called Jonssons Workwear. I use the sunglasses for work purposes as well and have no problems. The Photochromatic ones will hurt if you wear them in sunlight. Hell, I recommend these big time. At 20 bucks. They do not look like the clunky industrial glasses at all. And no, I do not work for them.
  13. Standard cheapish MTB with Stans gives you more options. I would not/never commute on a road bike. Tried it and left skid marks all the way to work. I was petrified.
  14. Try Johnson Workwear - R20.00 each. Also have "type of Photochromatic" - R20.00 each. Work very well, recommended. You would not know they are not designer glasses and are also safety glasses..
  15. Spot on. You got it right there. Prices on the Hub are far to high but we only have ourselves to blame.
  16. Holdfast have the bike spacer thingy which also locks the bike to the suspension rack. No movement and very happy with mine.
  17. At last..........?
  18. Was on an IDT within four weeks. Slow recovery to pre op days but very, very possible. Listen to your body, doctors have to play it safe. Cycling is good for the circulation and in my case is not a problem. You will be o'k and will get there.. hang in and good luck.
  19. Jeez, are you for real, mr Perfect. Who CARES!!!!!!!!!! YOU SOUND LIKE AN IMAGE CYCLIST!!!!!!!!!!!! The guys are having a good time and riding bikes. Good for them. Get a life!
  20. Now to add the uprights. What do you think?
  21. I have one of these but the bike keeps falling over. Not so lekker. It is up for grabs if anybody wants it?
  22. Many thanks Joe, just what I wanted to know. Busy with some stainless I have lying around. Have a plan to make them collapsible. Have completed the bases and they are great. Just need to extend the uprights with I wider pipe. These stands will be able to be used as a workstand with a collapsible base with a wingnut type locking mechanism. Thanks for the measurements.
  23. Hi Please could somebody tell me the height of a stand and the distance between the two hanger hole? I am bust making four of this as we speak and need to extend the upright support. Appreciate it, Ta
  24. Not a bad idea at all just thinking about it. Why not have a fund of sorts to pay for a PI? Only gets paid if bike is found or robber is handed over? Hub could make contributions? Something must be done for cyclists by cyclists because the cops have shown they are unable to do anything. The legal system is also corrupt beyond redemption it seems. You will never know when it will happen to you. Just saying.
