  1. Hoeveel het jy vir jou Fortius betaal?
  2. Great!! Now if you can teach her to be quiet and to cook. How much for that?
  3. I am looking for a indoor trainer for the wife. Can anybody recommend a trainer, not more than R2,500.
  4. There was a thread on the forum about people in CT fixing shorts. Can anybody point me to the thread please?
  5. I need to replace the FSA chainrings on my bicycle shortly. I've got a Ergomo on my bike so changing the whole crank and bb is not a option. Will Dura Ace chain rings fit on the FSA cranks or must I replace with FSA?
  6. The route was quite nice. Places to stay in Montagu and surrounds are a bit scarce though.
  7. Does anybody know if/when/where the Double Century will take place ? I've heard some rumors that it will not be in Montagu again.
  8. Point is RH is the best SA cyclist currently. Proven again on Sunday. South Africans just do not like anybody to be too successful.
  9. This leads to the next question? Should I put a dedicated wheel on the trainer. If the wheel is a Shimano as mentioned above and my other wheel is a Easton, will the bike shift the same with both wheels or will I need to adjust for this?
  10. Cervelo I've got one of those Yellow tires but must agree after putting on and taking it off twice I decided it was not worth the effort. The trainer is a bit hard on tires. Question is does it effect the wheel?
  11. I do all my training Monday to Friday on my trainer. I use only one set of wheels on my trainer, to ride outside and to race. My question is this. Does the trainer have a detrimental effect on my wheel and on the tyre? Should I use a dedicated wheel on the trainer?
  12. I agree with BaieSukkel, it is worth the time to get into Cycle shorts. It won't take a minute and it is definitely worth it to get into running shorts. On the nutrition side of things; I take my own gels as the Powerbar gel is to thick for me to get down. I suggest trying it before hand if you can use it, it is something less to carry. They hand out bottles with both water and energy drink on the bike, I think Powerbar stuff. Again rather try it before hand. Good luck with the training, the race is awesome and when you finish you will realise that it was worthwhile training all those hours. Remember to enjoy it.
  13. I know there were some problems with the Fortius in SA. Something to do with it trying to push generated power back into the grid. The major difference with the Fortius (except price and co lour) is that it will actually push you on downhills. This will enhance the virtual reality effect but takes away the main benefit of cycling on a trainer, you always work!! The software also encompass everything in one program where the I-Magic you have to launch them separately.
  14. That is a very good price. I've got one and would definitely say it is worth it. Just keep in mind that it takes a fairly decent PC to run the trainer from. I started out using the Virtual reality part of it, but these days I mostly use the Catalyst software where you build your own training set based on power (not very accurate but good enough for training), slope, heart rate. It is extremely useful. I build all my plans for the week on a Sunday and each morning just get on and go. You can also use the new Fortius software on this trainer which gives you the option of taking Virtual Reality to the next level with real video. You can then buy all kinds of routes e.g. Alp de Heuz etc. This obviously requires a even better PC than the std I-Magic software.
  15. Also doing it. I know the area well. After looking at the routes I know it is going to be a lot of climbing also should still be pretty hot that time of year. On the positive side, there is no better place to cycle in this country, very little traffic and very good roads. The scenery is also great. Lots of hills but all of the can be overcome with some training and a lot of patience.
  16. If you want to import old data my guess is you would need to get independant software that can handle both devices. Cyclingpeaks makes very nice (expensive) software that work with most devices, SRM, Powertap, Ergomo, Polar and Garmin. I use it with my Ergomo and it is very good. I am sure it will be able to import all your data. You can try it out for free for 7 days. Cyclingpeaks.com.
  17. I am upgrading my Cervelo Soloist to a Carbon. How do I sell the old one, any websites etc.?
  18. Or get Kyalami to play ball. Megawatt Park might also work.
  19. I see they have 150 teams according to there website. Will be there, hope the weather is better than this weekend in JHB.
  20. Hey atleast we got the mountain!! You might have the mountain, but we have got electricity.

Some more advice: 1. Set a realistic goal. i.e just finish or 13 hours. 2. Tell your family what is involved, they will see a lot less of you and when they see you, you will be tired. 3. Consistency is the key to all training, don't skip a day because you don't feel like it. 4. If you decide to do it, commit 100% All said, it is an awesome event. The spectators, the venue and the orginisation. They really go out of their way to make everybody feel special. To finish the race ranks right up there with the most memorable moments in my life.

Having done it twice I have to agree that the swim is the easy part. Swimming is 90% tecnique and 10% effort. TI did wonders for my swimming. The bike is for me the toughest part. I did 70% of my training on the bike. This was according to a very structured and expensive training plan. It makes sense because you do most of your endurance work on the bike, much easier to recover from a 6 hour bike ride than a 2 hour run. The longest run I did was 30km. It is crucially important on the day to have a eating and drinking plan and to stick to it.
  24. Hekpoort is tough, but the worst part of it is the traffic that you might hit. Last year I started a little to the back and we meet up with the shorter race on Hekpoort, cars trying to go down from the front, that was actually worse than the climb. Don't forget the little climbs after Hekpoort.
  25. Yes my daughter has got them on her bike. I am also eying her training wheels. They should look great on my Soloist.
