  1. I seriously doubt it. Maybe if you switch off most functions and reduce the backlight, but as far as I can remember mine lasted about 12 hours. The 705 will probably make it.

    LX vs SLX

On the topic of hijacking - anybody use the twist grip? I switched to gripshifts on my new bike in March. XTR FD and X0 rear with X0 gripshifts. Personally I had my doubts but now I am coverted. I will stick with gripshifts from now on. The one great advantage is the infinate adjustments you get on the fd, no more chain rub.

    Brake pads

[is this V-brakes or disk brakes??????? Disk brakes.
  4. I need to replace the pads on my Shimano XT Brakes. Are pads just pads or do you recommend any specific ones?
  5. Markie has got the sollution. Load Vit C from a week before.
  6. I am looking for a company to insure my bicycles. I have very good short term insurance but they dont insure bicycles. Any suggestions please.
  7. Try Fritz Pienaar in Paulshof
  8. Some good news. You can have it done at some of the Spec Savers branches. You make an appointment, pitch up, get it done and they phone you when your license can be collected.
  9. Must agree. If you go to them direct the service is the best in this country. Do not go through the retailers (LSW), they give shocking service and then blame it on Avnic.
  10. I am looking to my wife a MTB. Looking at a budget of about R15k. Can you give me some advice please. She will not race any technical stuff but will probably do some long rides with me. Nothern Farms, Spruit and probably Groenkloof at a stretch. So do I get her a hardtail or a full suspension bike? Which one in that price range?
  11. Does the Maxxis come in 29er?
  12. I am riding a Fizik Arione on my road bike and really love this saddle. On my MTB I have a Gobi and must admit I am not that impressed. I have been riding it for a year so it is not new. Which sadlle would you recommend?
  13. I am looking for a tire to use on my 29 er to commute to work. I would say about 75/25 on hardpack/tar. Looking for something that will roll smoothly. Must be tubeless ready. Any suggestions?

    PowerTap

I want to build a new set of wheels. Questions: 1. Is PowerTap compatible with Garmin 705? 2. If so which PT should I use? 3. Can I get the hub alone without the computer? How much? 4. Which rim do you recommend?
  15. Another great thing about the Garmin is that you snap it onto any of your bikes and it works. No duplicate sensors etc.
  16. Actually both companies have some of the best service in this country, the problems starts when the retailer needs to send your device to them. If you take it yourself the service from both companies are brilliant. I prefer the Garmin though.
  17. Salaries do get transfered immidiately. The get a special code. Normal transfers between banks take 1 or 2 days.
  18. In the UK the already have a scheme where the employer buys the bicycle. They are then able to claim the VAT back (17% I think) as well as you can pay the bike out of pre taxed salary. Not just certain bikes, any bike you want with helmets etc.
  19. Anybody know who can manufacture or print on existing cycling shirts. I am looking to do kit for out Sabi, Sani and other team events. Just the 2 of us, so it would be 2x4 shirts. Pref different for the differnt days.
  20. Does anybody know when the bike park will open?
  21. North Wave most comfy shoes on the market.
  22. Thanks Johan. I have worked enough on Clayson Harvestors in my younger days to know how to replace a bearing. Seeing that I can get them from Bearing Man and not Ksyrium I will do this myself.
