  1. It is fun and the bad news is you will keep changing things. My blue TallBoy is build up like this: Wheels: Whyte titanium hubs with Crest rims. Quarq SRAM crank XX FD and RD XX Grip shifts XT brakes SID Worldcup fork I have not ever weighed it.
  2. Thanks for the info and the useless comment.
  3. Can any technical savvy person confirm if the 100mm can be adjusted to 120 mm?
  4. Thanks for the advice. Yes the TallBoy can do a 120mm fork. Next question: I have a SID XX Worldcup 100mm fork on there. Can this be changed to 120 mm? It seems it is just a spacer, can anybody confirm?
  5. A quick question for the smart people. What difference will 120 mm travel vs 100 mm travel make on my TallBoy? Feel? Geometry? Will I notice it?
  6. One place to go. Dr Ulrich Hahnle at Linksfield.
  7. +1. That is a upgrade on any bike out there. (ok I might be biased, I have the blue one)
  8. Nothing wrong with going from 26ht to 29ds. No need to go through the steps. If you want to go 29 ds, do it. Also nothing wrong with SRAM 2x10 systems, I saw as many issues with Shimano as with SRAM at Epic. I agree you should try to get X9 if possible.
  9. Yes you just ignore the teeth. The teeth are actually on the grip and not on the shifter.
  10. Yes. Ergon makes gripshift specific grips. Got mine from CRC.
  11. I feel I am on track. I train as much as I can and stick to my program. The last week I could feel my motivation take a bit of a dip. (i have been working crazy long hours) I was actually quite relieved Tuesday morning when I got up and we had that big storm, I promptly got back into bed. I did train every other morning but struggled to get out of bed. 2 months to go, any advice to get my motivation levels up again?
  12. I drove past there this morning. There was a covered body lying in the left lane with ambulances and a fire engine blocking off the lane. A white Jetta was standing a bit further on with the front left of the cabin pretty badly damaged. Windscreen crashed. I did not see a bicycle. RIP and condolences to those left behind.
  13. Had Fox on my previous bike and now SID. I prefer the SID but not really much in it. SID have remote lock out, that swung it for me.
  14. Is there any reason why I can not turn around the rear shock on my bike? The pro pedal switch is very close to my water bottle and sometimes I switch it by accident.
  15. I load my bikes on my trailer when traveling. The standard jobbie where you take out the front wheel and there is a quick release on a gutter on top of the trailer. Problem is my new bike has got a through axle. Do you get a mounting for this? What do you do with the wheel as it won't work in the current rack.
  16. I am also interested to find out.
  17. What are the options for a power meter on a MTB?
  18. Thanks for all the replies and advice. I got myself the Racing Ralph's Snakeskin. I will give them a try.
  19. Cause Santa said I was a GoodBoy.
  20. I think the SC is quite available, at least was in December. Other benefit is you buy a frame and build it up exactly ow you like.
  21. Time is runningn out to get to know your new bike. I just got a Santa Cruz Tallboy. Can seriously recommend it.
  22. This is what I have in mind as well. I had good experiences with Geax on my 26er previously. The Schwalbe guys just all sound very convincing with the Racing Ralph Snakeskin's.
  23. Thanks for the reply. Iam riding Mavic Crossmax wheels.
  24. Yes I kow there has been a million topics on this and I have read them all. My Crossmarks LUST's are nearing end of life and needs to be replaced. They are bullet proof and I never had a puncture on them. They don't grip the best though. I ride a SC Tallboy. I want tires that I can do Epic with, i will probably go through one set before therace and replace them once. I am looking for something that is firstly reliable and secondly with a bit more grip than the Crossmarks. I am not too hung up on weight but rolling resistance is important. I had Mountainkings and did not like the roll on them. I am considering Racing Ralph Snakeskin. Anybody have opinions on them? Do they cut or puncture easily? Also under consideration is Geax Saguro back and Geax Aka front. Any opinions on them? Any other recommendations?
