  2. Best advice thus far. You must be comfortable on your bike, does not matter what it is.
  3. I have done mine on a dual suspension 29er. Santa Cruz TallBoy. I will do it again next year on the same bike. Epic is not overly technical, lots of climbing and lots of district road and jeep track. Over a week on the bike I would think comfort trumps weight. If you are in it to win it you might consider a 29er hardtail.
  4. Thanks, I will get hold of them in the morning.
  5. Anyone know where I can get replacement lenses for my Oakley Jawbones in Northern Johannesburg?
  6. A suggestion is to check if you have the latest version of the firmware.
  7. I use a Suunto Ambit 2 as well as a Edge 810. I use the Garmin belt with both and it works perfectly. I have never tried to use the Suunto belt for the Garmin.
  8. W2W with out a doubt in my book. The riding for me is on a different level. Nothing get dumbed down, but it all remains rideable. The vibe in camp for me is also better. My 2 cents anyway.
  9. Can somebody please help? I am looking for a store in JHB or online that sells Northwave MTB shoes.
  10. I must agree. I have always had the best service from Cycle Tech. I have bought many bikes from them and will probably buy many more. I refered a lot of friends there and they are all very happy with the service.
  11. I recently sold my TallBoy and got myself a TallBoy LTc. I run it with mostly XX (2x10 gripshift) and XT brakes, Enve wheels, Ritchey cockpit. I loved my first one but love this one even more. I really don't think I gave up anything ito racing ability. The LTc just gives me so much more confidence when it gets hectic. I ride with a Fox CTD front and back and have remote lockout. The lockout lever is really ugly but it works very well and gives the bike a lot more versatility. If I have to replace my bike it will definitively be another TallBoy.
  12. I have got the same set-up and I download to WKO+, no problems there. Have you checked the heart rate zones that you have set up on the computer?
  13. Just done Jozi2Kozi, if you want a ride and not a race this one must be on the list. I have meet so many amazing people and ridden through a part of the country that I almost did not know exist. All the riders were part of the give-aways at schools on route. A tough ride but there was no time pressure and if you felt like it, you could do only part of the route, stop at a spaza shop and buy a Stoney or just have a relaxed ride. A small field of just over a 100 riders, so it was very intimate and the idea is not to grow it too much more. Not a race, but a cultural experience.

    Jozi2Kozi

Any hubbers doing Jozi from Sunday?
  15. I agree, I have both. For a short trip to the bike park or local I use the suspension rack. It is light and quick to fit. For long trips and where I have more than one bike I always use the platform rack. The bike is stable, can not come off and it is lockable.
  16. Make sure you get the money in time, despite some comments here it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. For me it was worth every cent and that is why I will be there again next year. My motto in preparing and racing Epic is the following: the moment I stop enjoying the training, I will quit. Don't take it to serious, but train hard, it is tough. Enjoy everything from the training to the actual race itself.
  17. I sit a lot more upright on my mountain bike than on my road bike as I ride a lot in the drops. It just feels like I sit on a very different part of my behind on the road bike than on the Phenom. The Phenom is designed so that you sit much more on your sit bones than on other saddles and I am very used to this by now. I have heard that the Adamo is designed to do the same.
  18. Does anybody ride a Adamo saddle? I have started riding my road bike again after more than a year on my mountain bike. I ride a Spez Phenom on my mtb and Fizik Arione on my road bike. Problem is my road bike saddle is killing me and my Phenom feels like a couch. It has been suggested I try a Adamo saddle. Any other suggestions?
  19. Yeah 100% sure.
  20. Not so. As of 2013 models the TB1 had a 12 mm TA.
  21. I am looking for new grips for my gripshifts. What is available and recommended?
  22. My Cervelo is about 4 years old and the Groupset, Ultegra, about 7. Both the shifters are starting to give me problems, sometimes shifting and sometimes only after a few attempts. The chainrings also need replacing. I don't ride on the road a lot and mainly use the bike on my trainer. I am more of a mountain biker. Which value for money Groupset would you recommend. All my wheels are Shimano freewheel hubs.
  23. Unfortunately I have to agree with Firemeister. I think you would be lucky to get R11k.

Sorry stupid question and might have been answered, can I convert my current Sram Quarq 2x10 crank to 1x11? I know I will have to replace everything on the back.
  25. I have tried but it will not accept the code for the fork. And then the app can not going any further.
