  1. As for the merida the 96 retails at 34k (I think) and with XT weighs 10.8kg which is also pretty darn good considering the price.
  2. Bigben I don't know if you weighed the Specialized when you took that photo...that particular bike comes in at 9.8kg...not bad IMO.
  3. Yes I noticed those aswell (I overshot 3 times on Tue), I'm so bringing clippers next week. Thug I had my back wheel jump out three times from under me on that corner, I found this happened if I tried to pedal just as you are halfway in the corner and when I looked at my speedo once out the corner I was doing43km/h (not sure what speed I go into the corner).
  4. What is hard for me to decide upon is by how much will using a power meter improve your quality of training and thus time and position in a race? Bearing in mind if you already have a coach and use HR when training. I mean you can get a nice wheelset for R15k.
  5. Hmm, I noticed he did that the one time I was behind him but thought he had just overshot.
  6. Brokespoke what place did you come at the crit yesterday? I get way too scared to take that corner at very high speed. I noticed that when I come out of the corner at a speed higher than 43km/h my rear wheel bounces up as I go over the grilling and slips a bit from under me. I did laugh at the comment of burnt brake pads, I could smell it strong aswell.
  7. jump over the barriers and push into the front of the group before the guys that are standing inline for the last 30min's.... Like a lot of guys at the Argus like to do(94.7 more and more' date=' recently) Had a chap jump the fence at the Argus a year or two ago, pushed in right in the front row. No amount of hollering and remarks phased him. As the count down was on, one of his wheels burst. Everybody had a hysteric fit of laughter. While we were on our way, he had to fix a wheel. Served him right, the bozo.[/quote] In the beginning of this year a guy also jumped the start group (BL group) and ignored the banter and moan as we started he was out of the marks first we just stayed on his wheel until he couldnt go anymore and attacked he just blew out of the bunch Interesting how those normally not in racing categorys have such an issue about this.
  8. thats not cool...and now i think of all those time i sprinted to see what the max watts i could get up too...
  9. when i asked Robbie that he said no dont worry its fine.
  10. What do people from personal experience have to say. A website that promotes powertaps might be a little biased no?
  11. The crit tonight was again awesome, I noticed there are quite a few more people aswell.
  12. Can't wait for the crit tomorrow, had to miss last weeks one
  13. Flipping awesome bike! Enjoy it
  14. Very nice! What fork is that? It looks like a Deda, but I'm pretty sure it's not a Scott fork?
  15. you people make me laugh with some of these comments and ideal bike shop points.
  16. I replaced my last pair of shoes after 3 years of use. They were still very comfortable but the flex in the nylon sole had become noticeable and the insole was at lifes end. Sore feet after having a pair of shoes for such a long time could be atributed to too much flex in the sole, your cleat has worn out and needs to be replaced or the footbed/insole has been worn out. You could even just be over tightening you shoe straps? These are thing we can't tell for sure without seeing the shoes first hand and may be why you are getting some random replies.
  17. Energy gels are for races where you dont have the time to unwrap and eat an energy bar. Gels also provide energy faster to prevent you running out of fuel. Jelly babies by the way are also nice to eat when riding and are full of carbs. So gels=races energy bars=training
  18. untill you get a piece of glass in the road and the explosion sounds like 45 magnum in a shooting range You and everyone else around you then tries to equalize their ears for the rest of the day.
  19. At race no. collection just say you left your licence card at home. Make it look convincing that you want to ride licenced and they will probably stick you into an unseeded start category.
  20. Hmm... The same thing has happened to me after I broke my left STI shifter. I had to buy two as I was told I could only get the STI shifters in pairs, shop also blamed coolheat, but aslo happened a year or so ago so not really bothered by it.
  21. This is the image brought to mind when ever I see a broken helmet.
  22. Interesting how helmets always seem to break at the back like that. Mine broke in a similar fashion when I last wiped and a friend has also broken two helmets in the same place. Maybe its when you like to land on your head...
  23. Yup read your entire post quite clearly and by what you suggest is that one should never take a bike to a particular bike shop unless it was purchased exclusively from them?? What I said was if you have them install a part or build up a bike that wasn't sold by them there seem to be hard feelings. So yes get your online store to build up your bike by all means! It is far cheaper after all. Just remember all things are linked' date=' when cycle shops close down so do their clubs along with newbies to the sport.[/quote'] Point taken! However the reciprocal holds true as well mate.......when cycle shops (certain ones that is) stop shafting us and running cartels and in turn rather earn an honest and fair keep more of us will ignore the online stores and return in droves fighting off all the newbies to get service? We seem to have reached an agreement here as I totally agree with you.
