  3. I have a set of EA90SLX wheels and they are awesome. The hub quality is brilliant, they just keep rolling. In terms of price I think they will also be very hard to beat. They are also very durable, I had the misfortune in a race a few months ago to wipe at around 60km/h after failing to take a corner. Even though the front wheel had been pinch flatted it was still perfectly true and the hub was also perfect.

  6. Hi hubbers I'm looking to get a new road bike for someone in the region of 20k, what are some good ones to look at? Just not specialized or trek. What are gt's road bikes like? It's going to have to be a 60cm top tube and I know a few brands dont make that size in a carbon frame. thanks
  7. If you have the option get the long cage as it works for cassettes with larger(eg 27-12) gear ratios and is still fine to use with cassettes with smaller(eg 23-11) gear ratios. GIRR2008-07-03 06:26:19
  8. I use squirt on my rd and mtb bikes, best stuff I've used to date. It lasts forever on my road bike. Only a week or less on my mtb, but as I normally wash my mtb at least once a week it doesn't really matter.
  9. Whenever I've had to put my bike on an indoor trainer I've always had to extend the distance by about 1cm between where the rear skewer is held in place and the front fork is held in place compared to the bikes that were on it previously...anyway we seem to be off topic from zerts...
  10. Its the best bike Ive had and really stiff, its a more comfortable bike than the rc6000 c I used to have. Like i previously mentioned I think the zerts do no more than lessen the noise from the frame, there are zerts in the fork, seat stays and seat post. I think its the slightly longer wheel base that makes the biggest difference in terms of comfort.
  11. yes I have a Roubaix pro
  12. oh ja and the gel inserts are pretty hard already, I'm sure if they had a lifespan the bike frame wouldn't have a lifetime warranty. Unless specialized is counting on you'll have broken the frame in a crash before the gel hardens or deteriorates
  13. I have just been thinking more on this and... I don't know how many hubbers have compound bows. On them they have harmonic dampners on the limbs which are essentially similar to zerts just with a little brass or something piece in the middle, now these are used in hunting bows to minimise mostly noise and some vibration which comes from the limbs when the bow has been shot. So my point being is how much vibration can a gel insert dampen i.e can you actually notice it or is it the lessened sound coming from the frame that we notice. Aswell as these are on carbon bikes which take away vibration in anycase.
  14. I'm pretty sure they are more of a gimmick than anything else. Its pretty hard to compare a difference in a ride in having them and not, other than it seems quieter?? with zerts.
  15. I've had 2 raleighs and a specialized road bike, I prefer my specialized over the other bikes I've had but it has also cost more. I believe its the legs that make the biggest difference yet am pretty sure a 35k bike does give you an advantage over someone with a 10k bike. No one ever passes me on a bike...
  16. wow this is the hottest bike I have ever ever ever come across... It wins by default!
  17. Do you have a carbon bike.....
  18. wow thats kind of arrogant. just because you come across one bike that has had a problem or a 100kg+ person breaks one that means they are bad?
  19. wow I never thought a water bottle could do that. But I guess a 1kg object hitting a car at aroung 100km/h does have some force to it.
  20. does it make any difference. I normally take thorns out just because they bug me and to watch my tubeless seal the hole immediately
  21. Carbon bikes rock! Do you think an Alu frame would still be rideable in the same conditions! At least you can see now what the inside of your frame looks like!
  22. If I remember right shimano XT wheelsets go for about R4.7, I may be wrong. I agree that the ZTR OLympic rims are really awesome aswell as with the hope hubs! But if you go for a wheel buid option, I dont know if you know how to wheel buid properly yourself, there is often a labour fee of around R400 to add onto the price... so it may be best to go for a complete wheels set.
  23. I thought nearly all disk brakes where sold in pairs, not sure how you are going to source only a rear one... sorry dont know why its double posting and i cant seem to delete themGIRR2008-06-13 03:01:47
