  1. Haha Chippy, I don't know if you could back that statement up against to many on the hub that ride standard cranks.
  2. Has anyone with a powermeter compared different length crank arms? Pleeeease... so this "feel" thing can be put to rest.
  3. Thanks Skye, I really love that bike I just need to get some Dura-ace stuff on it now.
  4. Well heres me and my bike, just don't have my Easton EA90slx wheels on in this pic.
  5. I think you will be surprised if you have a look at the bikes some of the Juniors have. Why not just do it on this thread?GIRR2008-09-01 12:16:20
  6. Thanks for the info Korbach. I'm also curious of swift's question on the pinch flats, the info doesn't make sense to me. I also thought one of the reasons for having tubless road tyres is you can put sealant in them that works better than sealant in tubes, aswell as lower weight. Similar reasons to having tubeless for mtb(except lower tyre pressure). The conti gp 4000's scored rather well by the looks of things.GIRR2008-08-29 07:23:02
  7. Whats the point of changing your entire crankset so you can have a small gear ratio cassette on?
  8. Amazingly I have actualy used a powermeter before and those funny things you strap onto your chest that tell you your heart is beating really fast. I am also able to spin in my gears on those climbs. Imho it comes down to what kind of riding you are planning to do. Do you want to just go along at an easy pace and enjoy the view, or ride as fast as is in your ability?
  9. If you need a 34 small ring you may as well walk, it would be faster! Even in Suikerbosrand I was happy riding a 39 small ring 25-14 cassette gear ratio.
  10. Even better are some frames that have a built in derailler hanger, break the hanger and you need a new frame!
  11. Just stick with the 53, we don't have the hills in this country to warrant a 50. Here a link https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=24219&KW=compact+crank
  12. My tip is always keep a spare pair of socks for when at work, nothing worse than wet socks for the rest of the day because of rain or a puddle. And ALWAYS make sure you have packed your work shoes, it really sucks getting changed at work then realizing you have forgotten your shoes. I used to ride along the spruit to where I have a part time job, but the feeling of unease of riding alone there got to me (the vagrants are just too dodgy).
  13. Here's the cost of the trainers: Fortius T1940 - R11209 T1930 - R15903 I've forgotten what the difference between the T1930 and T1940 is... Steering module - R2130 As of end of last month.
  14. I use a Fortius (I think its a fortius as I do some 18% climbs on it) trainer a lot when I go to my coach. It is really nice in that you have the option to steer (even crash) with it which takes much of the boredom out of riding on an idt. The road feel is also reasonably realistic and you can letup a little going (just keep the pedals going with little force) down hills as the motor in the trainer keeps going. There are a few different virtual routes you can ride and adjust their difficulty (harder or easier gradient hills). So I'd say its a really nice trainer to use, but I haven't ridden the i-magic to compare. Problem is I don't think the distributers have or will get in again this year, something about a fault with the power brake unit.
  15. I know for sure that Ipods aren't allowed in races, well not the licenced categorys anyway.
  16. I rode with someone who had tubeless dura-ace wheels about three months ago, so I wouldn't say you have some of the first in the country... He also said pretty much what you have with your impression of them. I'm still just to scared of riding tubless on the road for now, but love it on my mtb.

    Disk brakes

    because they are HEAVY!
  18. They will tell you the person who is first on winning time crossed the starting matt after the person who actually won. Therefore having a lower time in that group than the actual winniner once crossing the finnish matt.
  19. I don't agree that its a stupid system, especially for the racing groups where 1 second is the difference between 1st and 20th position. Imagine the complaints and screw ups then where people don't really care about their time but their position.
  20. Probably results for the lost city race, which are up now.
  21. I use Biogen when carbo loading , is great stuff and not very expensive. Then Cytomax for racing I used to use energy dynamix but found it tasted really nasty once warm and halfway through a race, a sports nutritionalist also recommended me not to take it other than in time trials as it is sugar based and not too good for long events compared to other makes.
  22. Bwahaha that would be more than a little awkward.
