  1. Yup read your entire post quite clearly and by what you suggest is that one should never take a bike to a particular bike shop unless it was purchased exclusively from them?? What I said was if you have them install a part or build up a bike that wasn't sold by them there seem to be hard feelings. So yes get your online store to build up your bike by all means! It is far cheaper after all. Just remember all things are linked, when cycle shops close down so do their clubs along with newbies to the sport.
  2. Were you able to read what I said in my next line? Providing good back up and expertise in servicing of your bike is something they provide when you buy your bike from them, will your online store do the same?
  3. That really made me laugh
  4. I believe the local importers such as cool heat are likely to tell you to get lost if you want to warranty something that you imported yourself. Which may be the reason why they always insist on proof of puchase when something is sent in for warranty issues. Next thing, nothing ticks off bike shops more than someone who imports a bike they sell then bring the bike and ask the lbs to assemble it for them. If you are going to buy online I hope you can install these things yourself. Remember its not yout lbs that sets the prices, its the distributer. But all in all IMHO prices here do need to become a bit more competitive.
  5. only the registered continental teams I.E Neotel MTN Konica House of paints and the Uci Academy were racing in the Uci bunch the rest of the elites started there because they were not aware of what was going on only to be told 40 minutes into the race that they had 10 minutes to get back to the start or they were DQ that is actually really bad organisation if you ask me I'm not sure what you are talking about that the elites that rode with the juniors were told to go back to the start, I heard no such orders being given by race officials. The elites also continued to race with us to the very end. Unless if you mean that some elites started in the UCI group and were told to go back?...In which case that is seriously uncool. I agree that the organisation wasn't up to scratch and all participants should've been made aware of which category and correct start time they were to race in at number collection. No wonder so many people are getting the rats with the officials, I lost respect for them 2 years ago at my first provincials race and have only had this feeling confirmed nearly every race with some incident or another.

  7. I love it when they give you sunscreen, but then get sad when its an SPF 8
  8. Just to add my little bit, a Specialized Roubaix is a definite no no to convert to a tri bike if you dont already have one. The geometry just doesn't work nicely.
  9. Surely Shimano Deore gearing is the same as XTR if it is all made in China from the same factoryy...well that is if I'm following your thinking pattern...
  10. Fizzik Arione Specialized Phenom SL is also quite nice (it is technically a mtb saddle but is still nice as a rd one)
  11. Sun flowers?
  12. Thanks, great photos Amateur! Any more photos of a guy in Standard Bank kit by any chance?
  13. As are Ferrari's and Lamborghini's ...... And like Specialized' date=' they both break down a lot...[/quote'] Haha when have you ever seen a Ferrari or lambo broken down? Aston MArtins are another matter...
  14. Why was he doing 200km/h... is the next question. Same way they stop a car doing over 200km/h I'm sure, stop them at a secondary point a kilometer or so later?

Haha, the longer this topic is kept alive the higher the yes vote will climb.
  16. QUOTE] Instead JMPD set up two road blocks yesterday that must have netted a fortune. One on Main Road and one on William Nicol. I got stopped at the one on Main Road while taking my kids to Montecasino skate park. Spent 1 hour on the side of Main Road paying R800 to not go to jail. I had one R500 fine on which I had apparently missed a court summons and they added R300 for contempt of court (I have moved home twice in the past year so assume it went to an old address). I'm all for enforcing the law (my kids were peeved at losing an hour of skating time though), but think it needs to be consistent. Would JMPD set up two huge road blocks like that in Alexandra. Never! They target the people with a fixed address, credit/debit cards (that's how most people were paying their fines) and a submissive attitude. One taxi driver they stopped just shouted at them and told them he had never ever received a summons for his R1000 fine. He drove off minutes later after what must have been a 'misunderstanding'. Back to this topic though, how on earth do you think they're going to catch guys on motorbikes for speeding? They don't have big enough number plates for the camera's to pick up and cops are certainly not going to step into the road to try and stop a motorbike doing 200kph... The best part of the road block on william nicol is that it is right next to an illegal taxi rank.
  17. I've seen motorbikes crash there a few times and don't particularly feel sorry for them. I am also very glad that no cyclists were taken out in the process of him wiping.
  18. How tall are you??? Haha I'm 187, maybe a mtb with 29'' wheels would suit me better.
  19. Wow thats an awesome bike, it just needs some pedals so you can ride it.
  20. And heres a photo of me and my mtb at the 24hr this last weekend. http://photos-096.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-snc1/v315/70/21/558349096/n558349096_1283560_9537.jpg
  21. There have been lots of threads on this. Just do a search.
