  1. Has anyone with a power meter ever tried to see if there is any difference?
  2. I've got the phenom sl saddle from specialized and I agree it does make the ride more harsh compared to the Fizik aliante I used to have. The problem I found with the Aliante was that after the 2.5 hr mark in a ride it broke my ass which the specialized isn't doing. The Fizik is now on my spinning bike.
  3. If you want a really comfortable bike thats also very stiff get the roubaix SL2, you'll never look back. I got the Roubaix Pro (only difference is the SL2 is a bit lighter) and its great, the Tarmac version is lighter with a bit more of an aggresive frame geometry. Either way go Specialized!
  4. Nice, I have a pair of D'Arcs myself. They have been the best, longest lasting and cheapest sunglasses I've had. All the others either broke from being sat on, lenses scratched too easily or the side arms broke. Oh yeah my D'Arcs seem to virtualy never fog up in cold weather unless you turn your head to the side to look back.
  5. I do swimming and running
  6. I've seen them, don't remember how much they were and I think you buy them in pairs.
  7. I think the new licensing issue is also a factor as it increases the price of doing events aswell as the time killing of trying to find out how to become licensed.
  8. I've done 11000km on my current front chain rings since last year, they haven't been giving me any grief (yet), and dont look shark finned yet that I have to replace them. On my second chain, will be third chain and second cassette cluster from next week or so.
  9. You should e-mail Ian irw@thefront.co.za, but he will probably want a racing record and for your son to have had experience in racing before making him part of the team. This year I asked about becoming part of the Junior team and was just sent a reply that the team was over prescribed and I should sent in my race cv and would be considered if a position became available, that was a motivating response.
  10. Dont worry Pilks many older riders do things like that just because Junior cyclists are like 20yrs younger than them and they're jealous we kick their asses even with restricted gears (excluding VA's they always catch us and should start ahead)
  11. I don't think that swearing at other riders is acceptable at any level of riding, whether you are just out to have a fun ride or race competitively. All it does is build up tension between riders and ruin a good morning.

I used a spirit level... its straight, I've only changed the height and horizontal position of the saddle since then. I cant wait to race with it on Sun at the Ride 4 Sight!
  13. Kenda Karma tyres are good if you dont have tubeless rims or conversion kit running, they have been horrible to seal from my experiences.

Ok ok its a big frame (61), im 6'2''. The saddle looks wrong because its on a stand (look at the rear wheel). Its an awesome bike, the frame makes the ride very smooth but is still very stiff. The geometry is very different to any other bike I've ridden the front fork seems more angled, but isn't in a bad way. Why the note about tightening the seat bolts?
  15. Steven is it possible for you to fix a an Sti lever that has been stripped and wont change? This happened to my bro's Front derailer Tiagra lever.

Hey all! I just got my new frame yesterday and put all my old components on it, and rode it this morning. So here it is, p.s sorry all you photographers out there I used my phone to take the photos. Its the Specialzed Roubaix Pro frame, 105 components and Easton EA90SLX wheels GIRR2008-02-11 23:21:28
  17. Is it wear/perish cracks or old cuts?
  18. Anyone who stocks Specialized, got mine from Fritzpienaar cycles. Ive just been looking at the pic again, I got the phenom sl, its a lighter harder saddle for road riding, thats the mtb one isnt it? GIRR2008-02-10 02:25:55
  19. I got 1 and have been riding it for a week now, awesome saddle!!! My was retailing for like R900. My old saddle a Fizik Aliante just broke my ass after the 2.5hr mark but this one so far has been great.
  20. Thanks for the link to the writeup Velo, it was interesting. I've ordered the frame and should be getting it on mon, can't wait to do a long ride and race on it. Hopefully as long as there aren't any problems I will be racing with it at the ride 4 sight.
  21. Sorry Onetime, thats a good deal I must admit but I've already sorted where I'll be getting my frame from. I beleive the size might be right too (61) anyways...GIRR2008-02-08 02:16:11
  22. Haha ja for R17000 maybe when I'm big. I've been told this is better than the tarmac in that with the more relaxed angles you can ride on the drops for a reasonable time without breaking your back. The weight of the frames is nearly identicle aswell I think, I weighed a Tarmac pro (Large) 1060g, haven't been able to do the same with the roubaix. The two frames feel just as stiff when I tried them too.
  23. I want to order myself one of these today, does anyone have one of these that can give me any feedback on it? Anyone got any other thoughts on it?
  24. Hmm... I wonder how many bike shops will keep stock of spokes like that aswell.
