  1. I think what the Spinnekop oke is driving at, is that ALL the road users need to catch a wake up in general and be more considerate/tolerant. No specific group is really at a larger or lesser fault than the collective. No matter what thumb suck perceptions are. There was a stupid remark that was punted about roads being for motorists only and then categorising road users into a food chain. That seems to sum up the general knuckle dragging tone of your average Saffer road user. Be it man, woman, cyclist, runner, motorist, motorcyclist etc etc
  2. Heh, know Kevin from years ago ... Good chap, genuine and always willing to assist. Enjoy every minute of your riding bud. B)
  3. I daresay that looks like Kevin's shop in Weltevreden Park, Fusion Cycles.... Nice one, beaut of a bike, or that other phrase 'steed'
  4. For fitting components, Juan Smook Mobile Bike Tec. He travels to your office or home. Registered on the hub as well.
  5. Have to say, I own the Fox Flux and Bell Slant and I echoe Hairy's post, the Bell Slant is a super deal. Extremely comfy, the dial adjustment on the rear is fool proof and style wise for the price it's brilliant. Got mine at Mike's Bikes in Greenside.
  6. The Rudy special is tip top.... plus you get to wear a helmet named after our prez, which also means it's shower safe! If that's not to your likeing the Fox Flux and Bell Slant are also bloody nice lids for the price (approx R800)
  7. Just do it I reckon! Had a hard lesson on the virtues of tubeless this weekend!! Be sure though that your tyres and rims can be converted to tubeless, otherwise that could end up a hard lesson on itself!
  8. Did Silverstar MTB, ended up walking about 20km of the 40km after puncturing with 4 tubes. Riding shoes do not make for good hiking I tell you, blisters on my heels cant testify to this. Still managed to finish fortunately........ what fun!
  9. As long as the bunny isn't a religious follower of any particular faith! Mein gott that would make me rabbit for the nearest exit. hmm, now theres an interesting phenomena, a dassie that rabbits!
  10. Now that's just not on! In fact it's akin to helping yourself to another man's beer from his fridge without asking. People get burnt for less, and I'm not talking about a viking funeral either!
  11. You shadup 29r infidel! .... Jokes aside, reading the thread it seemed to more on the heated than discussion side. Folks talking about jihads, suing this and that. Such intolerance, it makes me want to punch a bunny.
  12. This is the Spruit right? .... Why is there a whinge about right of way, it's a flat route with plenty open space for passing either way. Common sense dictates move to your left for oncoming traffic. And ya, international convention for non directional trails is that going up generally has right of way. Although given the terrain along the Spruit this hardly an issue. Are Mondays seriously this bad?
  13. Distribution is probably the single biggest issue with independent publications. This has been an ongoing bugbear, Bardy is still in Lindani at the moment or they're on their way back. I've SMSed him to let him know that the thread link has been sent via email. They'll get you sorted....
  14. Generally I've always liked the Kendas (as made famous by Johnny T) how are you finding the Small Block 8s? Just bought a wheelset with them on and am curious. Currently on my other wheelset I'm riding with CST Comps, Copperhead and I really love those. Lightweight, roll beautifully and work on most terrain other than really loose sandy stuff or mud. Tread pattern is reminiscent of the the Hutchinson Pythons.
  15. Currently I use an old 30L Karrimor day pack that was made for adventure racing and it really is serving me well. If I had to take my laptop I just put in a neoprene sleeve before packing. Also has an external insert for a hydration bladder. Just bought a North Face Limekiln as well, more for work use. It's a 19L and has a sleeve for a 15inch notebook. Can easily pack in a set of clothes and shoes as well. Found that the best range of bags can be found at Due South, they sell Karrimor, North Face, Due South etc ...
  16. +1 !!! ... After my first bike (Bridgestone MB5) Konas were my next three bikes. AA and two Explosifs, legendary stuff indeed!
  17. What Luke said.
  18. Interesting lube review in the latest Tread mag I notice.
  19. Yes I can see you wringing your hands with gleeful joy, not too far removed from the protestors after all.
  20. Was at Probike's Raleigh launch and the pricing is extremely competitive as well. Full susser with Rock Shox Recon Gold, Avid Elixr 3 and a mix of SRAM X9, SLX and Deore with a fully adjustable fusion rear shock at around 14k. This was it http://www.probike.co.za/brands/raleigh/bikes/2011/nomad/nomad-fs-twenty
  21. A lube jihad, we're on a slippery slope now!
  22. I use Squirt, decently priced and works well enough for me. Sometimes, especially a wet/muddy ride I use Wynflo/n instead. Fifty bucks from Builders. Also I notice Herschelles make a damn fine range of lubes and greases, also available from Builders.
  23. But are you as good as Dr House? ... heh, just poking fun.
  24. Well ya, but what exactly do you need assistance with? Sourcing the bike or what? If it's skirting around customs and duties, then no.
