  1. For me it's much of a muchness.... Often I greet, but also there are times I don't if I'm in a bit of a headspace on a ride. People shouldn't be so sensitive, if you greet or not, or don't get a return greeting. No big deal, jeez. Cycling is one of those few sports that we can enjoy on our own or within a pack.
  2. That was him!!??
  3. That was him!!??
  4. Can you post the exact email from ROAG. CSA and CGC have told me that the R75 membership is for all events and includes seeding except for provincials and nationals for example. The full race licence is for national points and ranking, so provincials and nationals. The day licence is if you have none of the above. Or if you only have the R75 membership and want to race for points in your cat at a national or provincial race, then the day licence applys. http://www.cyclingsa.com/member.aspx There are numerous CSA threads on the hub as well, where this is talked about.
  5. The guy was real gent, she however was a fowl mouthed tramp going off like that. Difficult to say with the camera's lense perspective, but he really wasn't that close. Basic common sense is to go off to the edge instead of just slamming brakes and blocking the trail. Understandable to be miffed, but damn what a spectaculer tantrum, everyone else was pretty chilled as well.
  6. In reality though, you can run that comparison to any other road user. I commute as regular as possible, on my route I hardly ever see a motorist stop at stop streets. On average, maybe 3 out of every ten. I've been stopped at red robot at approx 17:30 and seen a cyclist come past me, and stop halfway into an intersection only when I yelled out "It IS still red" Stupidity applies everywhere. I know I don't use the roads absolutely 100% to the very letter of the law, and I daresay that no-one does. People in general are ignorant and aggressive on the roads, that we see with all groups on the road.
  7. Ag yana, we still in this circle..... It doesn't matter what your mode of transport is at any given moment. Road users do stupid things, full stop. I don't need the stupid actions of other cyclists, like urinating in full view on the side the road or some resident telling me I'm not welcome in a specific area. To define how I use the roads responsibly. If anything, this whole toe to toe between selected members of cycling and Cradle Residents, illustrates the above point.
  8. Same issue as Thumper. Metabolism works faster than my mouth. In turn the mouth often works faster than my brain and thats not always with food.
  9. I don't live that side, but one of the best things could be the reopening of Moreletta Spruit. If it's utilised by enough people the safety issue could be mitigated to a large extent. Braamfontein Spruit is a good example of this I think, there have been a number of incidents but I still think it's relatively safe as an urban trail due to all the traffic. To see something like this in P-town would be great, best of luck to you guys! B)

  11. Go through there plenty on weekends as well, Tumbleweed cycles there to work on a regular basis as do quite few folk I know. As far as the taxi association goes, this is because the one year they had issues because the route designers hadn't taken into consideration a nearby taxi rank. People would whine if there was no route changes as well. Damned if you, damned if you don't.
  12. Ditto, flippin feel like death for two weeks!
  13. Yasis boet .. ..... Man I was talking of a simplified process in general, not me specifically. I already phoned CGC and spoke to CSA, they both confirm that the Cyclosport Liceence, now known just as "membership" Allows you to race in your cat and get a seeding etc, but UCI/CSA events for points. Like the nationals and provincials require a full racing licence. Quoted from the CSA site under "CSA Membership" http://www.cyclingsa.com/member.aspx "Membership will entitle riders to race, be seeded and participate in CSA sanctioned events. Exceptions are detailed under Racing License Section" So yah lekker, I can still be a weekend warrior in an event like the Silverstar MTB or Nissan Series. But if I want to compete in events for national points like a pro, I must sign up for a full racing licence. Sommer
  14. Rumour mills are normally a pound of bull**** to be taken with a pinch of salt. They muddy the already murky waters. All I want is a straight forward description of the process and what the benefits/rules are. Simplicity, it cuts out so much chaff.
  15. Assumption can be the mother of..... The reality is that most clothing team and club gear can be bought or just old kit that someone rides in. Doesn't detract from the stupidity that some folk display on the road though. No matter what they are wearing or riding/driving.
  16. .... Anytime. Though I don't really drink the stuff much, or any energy drink for that matter
  17. +1 ... It's not just any random that gets to wear a Red Bull lid. They are by far one of the biggest supporters of extreme/alternative athletes and events. Lot more coming about locally as well now. Red Bull pulled the rug with the local distribitors and now handle everything directly. So events will start taking off again, as well as proper athlete management. Red Bull Box Cart Race Soweto and the recent Red Bull Under My Wings with Sifiso 'Skizo' Nhlapo this weekend were a good start!
  18. Yes but, is it bad for you and is it art?
  19. May see you guys there, live and work in the area. No SAB crap, Windhoek Draught only!
  20. Absolutely, Very sad news this morning. Feels surreal, spoke to him after Cradle Quest and he was on top of the world.
  21. It's the interwebz, and in general forums that aren't efficiently moderated become a mess. The relative anonymously persona people can have is a breeding ground for keyboard warriors to act like ass hats. Take it all with a pinch of salt.
  22. Nic White? Mamps, I left well after prize giving and the guys were packing up and cleaning. Thats what I saw, so perhaps if it really did look that disgusting, perhaps take a photo and let the organisers know.
  23. Ah yeah. My route goes through Bryanston/Randburg a bit of the Spruit and then up through Parkhurst and Rosebank. Have to say that I've rarely had any issues, stop at lights and stop streets, use hand signals and ride defensively. If I get caught out bad light I have flicker lights on which definitely do the job of being seen on the road.
  24. Thats what those volleyball girls say too ...
  25. Dunno about CT, I'm in Jhb but commute from where I stay (Olivedale) to where I currently have offices, in Houghton. Thouroughly enjoying it!
