  1. Sure is purdy, heres to many happy miles on your steed
  2. Looks like Nick de Witt at his park in Muldersdrift. Reckon that shots been shopped, although the res is fairly poor quality so it's hard to tell.
  3. I see on the freeride forums it's mentioned that the riders must reapply to build the stuff....
  4. This is what I'm wondering? Mike Bradley from the MTB commision has handled situations like this before. Man, we really are becoming a nanny state,,,,,
  5. Damn' date=' who decided so? I was just starting to enjoy all that stuff. Typical, aim at the soft targets, but leave the squatters who light fires, litter, mug, commit crime and pollute the stream. P1SSES me off no end.[/quote'] Talks between the builders and city counsel, got decided they have to break it down. yup.. Anyone interested in freeriding and maybe finding a new spot to built, and help building join http://groups.google.co.za/group/za-freeriders On what pretext did they decide this? Coolio, shall join the gugulethu group
  6. Is this all still frothing on?.... Pity this discussion isn't with every one in a windowless room. One or two solid farts would resolve the issue/s quick enough. Someone pull my finger, quick...
  7. Ok, I couldn't wait long enough to send an email. So phoned Caxton directly and got hold of the editor for the Chronicle (Kennedy) He was extremely pleasant and helpful and noted my concerns, took my details and has instructed the reporter to refile the story. Apparently he's been inudated with riders calls protesting the article. The number to call is 011 293 6068, option 3 then wait for the switchboard wher they'll transfer your call. Keep it tidy people, abuse and bad language will NOT help. From reading the article I'm also extremely tempted to find out Vincent Earp's standing. I cannot abide cheap politics, as this is how I interpet his actions and comments here.
  8. I've made a note of the email address on that article and shall contact the guy. Perhaps send a link to this thread. I think I'll also contact Mr Earp, since I'm also entitled to have a say. I'm interested to find out how 'more than 5 residents' (so no more than 10 then) constitutes the majority of feeling for residents as a whole. Mr Earp also seems to imply that the park is private property?
  9. Argh... nay, don't even call it journalism. More like reporting, hack style. Like I said though, I'd like to read the article before passing comment.
  10. Would like to read the article, but from the comments this seems to have been poorly done and entirely subjective. Has anyone/clubs contacted the Sandton Chronicle? Think they're part of the Caxton stable...
  11. Like I said before when this topic was covered, I'm glad that cycling is big enough locally that it can support 3 or 4 local publications. Internationaly I've always liked Bike and MBUK, MBA and MBI were my intitial reads but MBI went south whilst I lost interest in MBA after Zapata Espinoza left. Our local publications could be doing more, especially in terms well balanced content, such the overall standard of layout, writing and photography. Yet it's getting there through the growth of the sport and the dedication of the people who run these mags. They also have to determine what product format to put out based on the majority response to research, unfortunately the niche market seems to small to really cater to with a local variation of something like Bike for example.
