  1. Seen a range at Trailwolf Cycles in Modderfontein. https://trailwolf.co.za/
  2. There are a multitude of newbies in the sport, especially now. Plus not everyone wants to do a century ride. This opens up whole other level of accessibility for the sport. Well done organisers on taking a proactive step.
  3. Okes only just been found, sure the details will come out in good time.
  4. TBH your best bet is getting a private investigator involved.
  5. Cheers. Yeah it's one of the regular groups, I've a certain idea which group from a description. Will make contact with some of the coaches at some point soon. Couple of posts about it on the Cradle runners and riders FB group as well, massive thanks to the Cycle Lab club and vehicle who stopped to assist and secure the scene. Club car parked and kept him shielded whilst waiting for EMS.
  6. Would expect Fond will be able to update? In a similar vein though. This past weekend on Saturday in the Cradle on the Caves road, a mate of mine was taken down by a triathlete stopping to do a (likely) u-turn, who then left the scene. Mate was attended to by other riders and admitted with numerous injuries including T1, T2 etc ... This guy was in one of the tri training groups in the Cradle and I have a fairly complete description. On the off chance it, or an acquaintance is lurking on the hub and reading this. Here is a chance to own up and step up, feel free to send a PM so that we can put you guys in touch for a much need talk. Believe me. It will serve better than having to be found. Do the right thing.
  7. Just going on past experience. The best bet is to contact the organisers and/or Action Photo directly.
  8. Yes. AP pay organisers to be there to photograph riders and also cover logistics, equipment and staff costs. At least that was how it worked in the past, no reason that model will have changed. RAF activation very likely has a much smaller scale by which they can subsidise. Our tax money and fuel levies at work I suppose.
  9. The few I’ve done I’ve always been happy and come away with good memories and good times. Likewise mates who did it this year had an absolute blast.
  10. Not sure there were as many photographers on route this year from Action Photo? ... at least not compared to previous years.
  11. Dusk at Taroko, Modderfontein
  12. Lots of generalised hyperbole over SAPS, and yes, there serious issues across the board. It's also variably different with each station. Mulderdrift and Honeydew are really under sourced, the case loads like many other stations number into hundreds for each detective. Generally private security is often a boon for SAPS as it bolsters their capability, especially if much of the ground work has been done by a PI. Although this also create a breeding ground for problems, the dodginess in the private security sector is just as corrupt as anything in SAPS, in some instances it creating a direct line for organised crime. The truly committed in both the private sector and state/metro policing understand this and work with it. But the **** sandwich reality is this, while we all want to see this guy caught and get his due, which open cases of rape, murder and abuse should be set aside so as to prioritise this? It's sad all round, fkn tragic for too many.
  13. You wont regret it!
  14. Twitter!? ... What are these guys, boomers?
  15. Reminds me of the old Dusi2C event, two glorious days of MTB through KZN from Pmb to Durban along the Dusi route. So underrated.
  16. Well that was a proper field of racing. Going to be some proper post bike admin too!
  17. Somewhat saturated market here in SA, even brands like Castelli aren’t really pushing that much volume see as a stand alone locally. The real money is in the custom side. There’s a shop called Casquette stocking MAAAP and Rapha in Rosebank, possibly worth chatting to them. Would really research hard into the viability, and accept that for any sustainable return there will need to be significant investment in marketing levels through the line. It’s not that well known in SA and a hard sell given the premium price point. Really like the MAAP and pas normal stuff, sizing is REALLY on the small side though, something to be aware of. And given the price there really are a lot of other local and import options at comparable styles, materials and quality for better pricing. Ciovita, VanH, RH77, Enjoy, Privateer, Assos, GSG (Giseggi), Tactic, BioRacer, Morvelo are just some of the options available.
  18. Lounge wall is done by Bias. 🤘
  19. Prior to the relaunch of the Tagati/Website, they've always had an all road model, the Moya (alongside the Thaba and Tandem). A mate has one, with 32/33mm tyres. In mid October they even announced that Tegan Phillips would be riding the Moya, that changed towards the end of October where they announced it would be a Tagati. The attached pic shows "Tagati" etched on the top tube, as does the one on this thread. Would venture that this is possibly a Moya which has had Tagati etched on the frame. I am keen to see what happens with the 3D printed ti fork they've been working on. Bike nerding aside, it's a super cool adventure to follow and live vicariously through.
  20. From what I understand from Sling's social media recently, they did release a new frameset that accommodates 29r MTB tyres.
  21. Short answer, no.
  22. Ditto, there’s a rat in this soup. I think JY possibly got ahead of themselves in some respects, but then a voluntary NPO is by default an imperfect entity. The motive is honourable and well meaning however, it should be encouraged and guided. Not the case here. It seems like some were waiting for them to trip up. The local ward councillor who was quick to align themselves with JT before, is now nowhere to be heard of. The whole scenario is starting to smell like bureaucrats having an internal power struggle among the politics. Someone is hiding behind legalities and being economical with the truth. Meanwhile the only people left to deal with the fallout will be those employed by JT and the communities in the area.
  23. That was one of the best sprint finishes yet, Pritzen did the the classic 'throw' on the line. Really was down to the line.
  24. Normal, add sealent.
