  1. Will let you know. Very difficult for me though to give up my usual Sunday bashes in Jonkers!
  2. Cool tx stack.
  3. Awesome Crow. That'll be great. Lets try and make a plan then for Saturday morning if it suits you? We can set a time later the week.
  4. Ah, that's great to hear. Will make it easier to get used to riding with padding.
  5. Roger that.
  6. You were probably having great sex at the time.
  7. Cool stuff. Normally at Majik on Saturday mornings and at Jonkers on Sunday mornings, so ja, if you planning to go there send me a PM. Luv to see that green mamba of yours!
  8. Indeed. Ag, lets see where the journey takes us? I'm bored with XC, so I really think AM riding is where it's at. Gives me an opportuntiy to learn new skills. Simple as that.
  9. Thx boet. That's why I'm scared to buy it at CRC, because not sure about sizing.
  10. Yup. Gonna start with the pads and work my way up to a full face helmet. I guess it does wonders for your confidence when your're trying to push the limits and trying to go faster.
  11. Thx Cap. Yup, point taken. My riding parter had a bad fall on Saturday. And needless to say his knee took the brunt of it. Bit of a wake up call. Hence the search for padding this morning.
  12. Yup. Just a pity it's such a mission to get any of these products in SA. Wonder if that shop in Contermans won't stock it?
  13. Thx Crow. Ja, ag I think I rather wanna go with something a bit more manoevarable. Never used pads before, so it's gonna take a while to get used to it. And at the moment I wanna use it for light AM/aggressive trail riding, so the shin protection will be overkill for what I wanna use it for. I ride Jonkers a lot, so just need padding on the knees for all those rock sections.
  14. Thx Patch. I spoke to the guys from CWC and they're out of stock. Just my luck! Will have a look on Buycycle.
  15. Is the Lopes model, the one with the shin guard as well?
  16. Cool stuff Oh Mega. Will pop in.
  17. Wanna buy myself a set off knee pads for AM riding. I've narrowed it down to Troy Lee T-bones and 661 Kyle Strait's. Anyone have any experience with any of these? Also where in the Cape Town area would one be able to find it? Or is Chain Reaction your best bet?
  18. Sadly with the way the entry fee is increasing ever year, pretty soon no local will be able to enter. And how "African" is the race then? Just because it's staged in Africa, but with no locals competing? Nah. Bring on the Pioneer, JHBtoC, etc.
  19. Hmmmm....I guess we should be proud that a SA business (because lets face it, the Epic has become big business) is doing so well, but part of me feels that they should be very careful not to forget their roots.
  20. Agreed. Looks very generic. Or is that what they trying to do? Making it less "Africa"? Can't think why you would wanna go that route? Surely the foreign riders wanna have an Africa experience and us local boykies wanna be proud about it being an African race? Sorry, I'm rambling...
  21. Uhm...my guess is you haven't tried the Intense Tracer yet... Just kidding, awesome bike dude.
  22. Yup. Best to tuck that seat waaaaaaay down low for quick direction changes.
  23. Chubs, don't be too hasty to sell the Zula. I know you currently spending more time on the Shova, simply because it's something new and AM riding possibly appeals more to you at this stage. But believe me, you will miss that Zula once it's gone. I use my Zula for long training rides and the odd race, and then Sundays I use the AM bike for playtime. And that combination of the 2 bikes actually keeps the sport "fresh" for me, because they feel so different. Just a thought.

    MTB Wheels

Yup, SLR rear hub needs a service/cleaning every 3 months... but I still luv them. Besides the regular hub servicing, I haven't had any other issues with mine over the past 5 years or so.

    Attakwas 2012

Yup. Karoo to Coast can easily be done by roadies as well. Whereas in the Atta you do require quite a bit of mtbike skills to complete the race in one piece. There's a gnarly down hill section just before the Spur stop, which has seen quite a number of very bad crashes over the years.
