    Mtb drops/jumps

Thx a stack boet. Yup, I wanna try some bigger stuff in the future (I saw the Fabien Barrel dvd and that got my juices flowing!), but I wanna get the basics spot on first. I've taken a few tumbles in the last while, so I realise how small the margin for error is when trying jumps/drops.

    Mtb drops/jumps

Awesome. Thx a stack for the advice Nigel. Wil give it a bash. I always find that I land with too much of my weight on the front wheel. But that's maybe because I'm not carrying enough speed. But ja, practise will make perfect!
  3. Think it was that Jacques Rossouw dude.
  4. Pffft...these so called "pro's" never learn. Ride a slightly heavier tyre and you won't have to finish on your rim. But "oh no!", that saving of 200 grams is gonna make me win the race... ah crap, they did actually win the race... my bad...

    Mtb drops/jumps

Just a quick technical riding question for the DH guys: If you go over a big drop (not a jump) what's the right technique? You obviously try to get your weight back and then what? Extend your arms forward? Or do you also try to pull back on the handlebars at the same time? Or is it not possible to extend and pull at the same time? Sorry, a lot of dumb questions here.
  6. That's actually not too bad. How long did you wait for?
  7. Chubba it looks fantastic boet. How much did they charge you for the job? I've got the standard black Zula with a white fork and I was actually wondering the other day what they would charge to have the rear triangle sprayed white.
  8. Ouch..
  9. Yup, it does look quite a bit like a Giant Anthem.
  10. Ha ha! Just yanking your chain brutha!
  11. Er...these okes can't even give their bike models proper names, how on earth are they ever gonna build a proper bike... ZULA! Now there's a real name for a real bike!!
  12. I had a Trek EX9 before the Tracer and I think it was during that time that I saw someone (possibly yourself) on a 5.5 at Tokai. I actually pointed the Intense out to my friend, as it's so rare to actually see one in the flesh. But ja boet, pop over to Jonkers sometime. The riding is a bit different than Tokai. A bit more rocky and "tricky" if you can call it that. Certainly a test for your powers of concentration. And far less crowded than Tokai.

    Evil Undead

For some or other reason when I read the heading "Evil undead" I immediately thought of Julius the Idiot...
  14. Chicken breasts. Obviously a great protein source. I have 2 of them for lunch and that keeps the hunger away till dinner time. If you do need to snack inbetween, have a banana or a low GI Jungle energy bar.
  15. Ugh, unfortunately I'm working in the Financial Management department of our company (...yes, CA's too can mtbike!), so my work day starts around 7 ish. So no go for cycling in the mornings before work.
  16. Ha ha! Ja cool, I'll make a plan. Otherwise you must pop through to Jonkers one Sunday morning. That's our usual riding spot from around 08h00. Bought the year pass at Jonkers, so now I need to make use of it! I think I have in fact seen your 5.5 evp in one of my previous visits to Tokai. Still a kick ass bike! One of my riding buddies is getting the new Tracer 2 frame. Obviously can't wait (and the poor oke has been waiting for 3 months...)
  17. Ha ha! Ja boet, it takes about 45 minutes by car from my house to Tokai (assuming zero traffic). So that unfortunately rules out weekdays completely as I only leave work at about 5h30. So I basically need to make it a full day at Tokai if I go there over weekends. Cos, obviously you wanna learn the track and the only way to do that is to repeat it a bajillion times.
  18. Man, it sucks balls to live in the Northern suburbs...it's just such a mission to get to Tokai from there. You guys have all the fun...
  19. Ok Candy, just post some pics for heaven sake. Otherwise da blerrie agent will not stop. And neither will the rest of us.

    Your DH Machine

My vote: the grey looks good, but the original colors kicks ass!
  21. I wish we could get you okes over to Jonkershoek to help build a few new lines. Not sure who's responsible for building tracks there, but I think it's time for something fresh in Jonkers. Lots of potential.
  22. Just buy them dude. I have a set of Mavic Crossmax's which are moer expensive, and I have to service the rear hub every 3 months. So even the expensive stuff needs maintenance on a regular basis.

    Your DH Machine

Ha ha! I'm sure that DH bike will give you plenty of cardio if you cycle it up to the mast. Hmmm...that makes me think... I wonder what would be the quickest time down from the mast? That could be an interesting race?

Congrats Mayhem! I see the hardtail is still standing in the background. Is that just for effect? Cos' once you go full suspension there ain't no turning back boet! The first few rides will probably feel funny coming off a hardtail. Will feel like riding on a nicely padded couch! Enjoy.
