Strangest thing happened to me today, was waiting for my girlfriend at the top of the hill on joe solo drive( I think) when a hooker came to me and offered me her "services" for which I respectfully declined..... Oh and some guy told me I had a nice bike and even better legs and that we should ride together....wtf? Otherwise it was a horribly long day on the mtb, was the first time I had been on the bike since I broke my arm and collar bone, the wnd was a real killer
  2. Nope it's an Audi but cos its not factory fitted, the have to order a new rear bumper and add new park distance control sensors blah blah blah, so roof racks it is
  3. You are lucky, I just bought a new new car (demo model) that doesn't have a towbar. I was quoted R24k just for the tow bar and I am not willing to get the warranty void.....so roof racks it is
  4. Berg and bush! Got an entry if you want, broke my arm a week or two ago so I can't ride it
  5. I've got a similar one, but on my one, the tyre lever has a knob on te back tat is used to attach it to the tool and that knob is used as the Allen key? D Hope that Eli's
  6. Also didn't enjoy the big hike up the mountain, but was a nice race especially as it is in support of a good cause Big thanks to the medics, lost concentration for a second and had an epic crash which resulted in a broken arm:(
  7. Now for the life of me I can't remember which shipping I took, I will go check. I bought an indoor trainer, so hopefully I don't get Klapped with to import duty
  8. Hi guys So I bought some stuff off CRC, but how do I get it? Yes this is a stupid question, but where do I collect it? Does it come to the post office, my door or do I have to go to the airport? I placed the order two weeks ago so I am a bit worried about it. I haven't received my post for a while either as the post office is apparently on strike. Any advice? Thanks
  9. Hey guys So 2011' which was a pretty cr@p year for cycling is over and I'm starting a job next week which pays my more and has amazing work hours ( which is an awesome combo) So with my extra time and money, I would. Like to learn how to service my own bike and ideally build up a single speed from so I can commute to work. But at the moment, I have very little talent in that department, so what is the best way to learn? Books?you tube? Mechanic course? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cheers
  10. Why not call the cops or the Primedia crime line thingy. You dont need to be Horatio to solve a crime. Plus they could be blood diamonds from Zim so its definately worth it
  11. I have just started my own pyramid scheme, the returns are unbelievable!!!!! you will be able to retire in 3 years max Or you can invest in (my) bond(s) - 7.8% per annum....... those sort of returns are unheard of Can I send you my bank details?
  12. Eish, Ive picked up about 4.5 Kg's this winter! It Its been a combonation of working my @ss off at work and tearing all the ligements in my ankle! Ive been off the bike for 5 weeks now and I dont think ill be getting on any time soon! Starting Physio tomorrow so hopefully the physio will have some good news for me - although I am K@King myself for my first ride - Im gonna suffer, but it will be worth it
  13. i've picked up about 4.5 kg's, this winter, but I dod manage to tear all the ligements in my ankle so Ive been off the bike for the last 5 weeks And ill find out tomorrow when I can start again which really sucks! So in short Im gonna really struggle when I evenutally get back on the bike - whenever that is
  14. hey dude sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel. I had it 2 years ago and its a proper pain in the arse. I used Dr Andrew Barrow from Sunninghill Hospital - lekker oke and a bot of a sports nut! Im all sorted now You can also go see Dr Snickers at Millpark, he is a neuro surgeon but he is a family friend and also does the carpal tunnel operations Good luck mate, me with you
  15. hey dude I do all the squats and stuff like everybody has mentioned above. But if you want a good work out, do some squats, one legged squats and lunges on a bosu ball, it really gives you a proper work out and as an added benefit, it also works out your core muscles
  16. @ straycat - when you move to the "hurst" give us a shout! lots of cyclists in the area. Hey dude Yeah getting super stoked to be moving to parkhurst! Seen lots of guys riding around the area so it would be great to join up with some of the guys and make some new mates
  17. oh i forget to mention that the meet at the spar in Parkurst and ride around the area, they do about 40 to 50 kms - I think? but dont quote me on that
  18. hey dude there is a ride every monday, wednesday and friday morning. the guys at dunkeld cycles organise it. There are a different groups for different skill levels. I havent riden with them as it is a bit of a mission to get them so early in the morning, but now that I am moving to Parkhurst I will probably be joining them . so maybe go have a chat to merlyn or mark at the shop to get some details
  19. I wouldnt call it homework. just friendly hints and tips from the girlfriend. like adverts in her girly magazine that are accidently left open on the bed or on top of my tread mag, or those little phrases when we go shopping, " oh love, look how cheap those GHDs are, or they are having a special on at Sandton on GHDs - like 5% off, but this weekend only.
  20. I think that is a fair trade! My girlfriends birthday is comming up and she is hinting at the GHD hairdryer / hair straightner combo, its the travel version that she can use when she travels or when she goes to gym every morning! plus it apparently comes in a "pretty pink" cover/ bag thing! It costs like 3.5 or so thousand Ronds I offered her a new fox fork for her bike - still havent got a response to that yet
  21. The trick is to speak her "langauge" . You need to tell her that your new 29er is like a GHD hair straightner thingy ma-bob (apparently chicks think these things are amazing! My girlfriend refuses to use anything that isnt a GHD) or its like a 7kg washing machine vs a 4kg washing machine. Its all in the detail
  22. hey dude, yeah glandular fever is a bitch, I have had it 6 times during the last 8 years. The first 2 times I got it I was in bed for at least 3 weeks. Thereafter I was K.O for for just under a week!! You have to be super careful, because like Covi said, it can mess up your body if you train whilst you are sick! The best advise I can give you is to just chill for two weeks and get back into it slowly and DO NOT push yourself to much in your first 2 weeks of training! Also speak to your doc about vitamins, I used to take neurobian tablets (vitamin C) and slow mag tablets, that helped the most, but it takes about a month to kick in! All the best pal
  23. Ha ha I wish I was in IT! I work in corporate finance and was busy wrapping up a project! Eventually left at 230ish! Proof reading a report that late in the morning is not the most fun fun I've ever had on a saturday morning! But gonna be riding groenies tomorrow morning!
  24. well, today was supposed to be chilled..... but it is now 12:45 am on a Saturday morning and have clocked well over 100 hours this week! My ride on Wednesday was cancelled cos of work, tomorrow is definately cancelled because I dont actually know when I am going home......not cool
  25. I see alot of guys carry pepper spray, but my question is, where do you carry it, because in most cases you only have afew seconds to get it out and spray the mullets
