  1. Rode Garden Route trailpark with Bos and CM, we were pinning it down Long Drop. Looking at Bos we look slow - look at trail and you can gauge the speed a bit better. apologies - please pardon the F-bomb...
  2. In my opinion - limited to my own basic understanding of g-force, the loop should have started with a big radius transition in, with the radius growing smaller towards the end - so that as you lose speed, the distance you have to travel gets less - effectively propelling you through the upside down bit - past the apex at the top, and then relax again towards the exit. This seems more like a stretched balloon shape with the apex right at the top being the smallest radius and both sides pretty vert. As I said - my opinion and to me it makes sense...
  3. only 2 or three times....couldn't get out of it once I was in there
  4. I didn't take a lot of photos on my bike this holiday - because sadly I didn't ride often... Did a short black loop at JBay bike park and was running with some Zebras And then the long Down (and helluva steep up) at Garden Route trail park.
  5. Gspot rails
  6. Giant Lock on grips, used and worn, not torn, still comfy and not a sticky mess - to swop for a good joke, collect only, won't ship anywhere. Bargain if I've ever seen one. I won't judge you for being a cheapskate, only for being a good comedian. Chainrings - 9/10spd big rings PCD 104mm - to swop for two flip top Grolsch's each, but collect only. Truvativ Trushift from a Firex crankset - very little use. Shimano LX ring, one tooth missing from a rockstrike, still works fine, loads of life left otherwise - also great alternative ninja star, sadistic frisbee, or surprisingly effective handsaw.
  7. Pyka, are you one of the old school Paarl guys - been riding for ever? Dirt jums, DH etc? If so, then we would have crossed paths.
  8. I work here, but not that often no - maybe once a month a quick ride after work. Your homegrounds I assume judging by Pyga+Pike?
  9. Quick ride on Bartinney after work yesterday - first time out on Skyfall - second consecutive run, so legs are a bit tired after missing the turnoff on my first ride and climbing all the way to the top and doing a massive detour. Apologies for dropping the F-bomb when dropping the bike, I took out a little pole with my shin...
  10. Front end ran over a crack on the edge of the trail that dislodged a chunk and rear wheel had no where to go but down.
  11. First time on Skyfall, also had a normal fall. Banhoek beauty. 496m climbing over 8.8km - it's a deep burn.
  12. OK, so what I take from that is riding style depending - loads of riders prefer the extra 50mm, maybe even more. Maybe my style is just a bit 'different' or as my skill levels grow, maybe I'll need it in the future. Fair enough.
  13. True - at the same cost, buying new or secondhand, that makes sense yes TP. If there is a substantial price difference, then I would argue for the lesser travel / lesser price for most riders. At 150mm, is there any contact points on your bike other than pedals and bars? Your seat must be so low, that it is at knee level or under right? When I go fast clipped in, I want to know where my bike is, by keeping one leg touching the saddle when dropped, eliminates accidental unclipping when going over roughstuff when I throw my bike around or whipping. I ride normal MTB shoes atm and not flats or sneakers with cleats - so that may be an issue. haha Myles, 175mm - I know it's available, but sounds crazy long! Go-go gadget seatpost. On a jumpbike or parkbike that you have to pedal to your riding spots, I can imagine that's super useful.
  14. I must say, the fashionable 150mm drop for new posts seem awesome, but is it really needed? I rode a Fox Doss with 40mm and 100mm drop options, and found that for most Enduro type riding, I would actually only drop the 40mm, since I can still pedal sitting down on pedally sections, but it gives plenty of room on descents. On my new rig I have a new Giant Post with 100mm infinite travel adjust, and sure I use all 100mm most of the time, but that seems plenty - more than enough, have not once felt that I need more. I will burn a hole in my shorts with my rear tyre before my seat is a problem. So 150mm - is it just super #enduro or really needed? What trails do you ride that necessitates half a foot of seat droppage?
  15. I want Mr Munnik to go flatout and see if he can take that segment - should make for a fun Segment Hunter.
  16. Paarl DH top to bottom - not really an edit, just sped up the climby bit. Misjudged the camera angle - and so this is going to annoy the crap out of most of you - apologies. Going for speed and flow here - so no stylee jumps - low flyers all the way down.
  17. Screenshot mid flight. And a bit of clipped in comittance.
  18. My Trance (yet to be named) took me to fun places
  19. Cleanest my bike's been since building it, so snapped a couple of snaps before hitting dirt again.
  20. And to go with the fork decals, and after watching Myles' shuttle run vids, I got this: Time for some vids!
  21. Finished the decals on the Mattoc in lunch, the murdered out look is spot on! (I cleaned the areas before application - yes the rest of the fork is dusty)
  22. haha, tbh, I would not put that lady on my bike, but deffo very entertaining! I could not find the decals for either the Mattoc or Pike in usable format, so sat on illustrator, and with the forks and ruler next to me.
  23. I took my sweet time drawing everything up in vector and then had them printed.
  24. Not sure this counts as latest purchase, but just look at that! Pike and Mattoc greyscale murdered out decals printed and ready... Quality is around 80% of what I would have wanted, but deffo good enough that I am slapping them on soon.
