  1. My 5 rides old XT chain broke today while I was sprinting for a jump. OTB at 35km/h out of the saddle is not fun. It was on the opposite side to the join. I'm hoping it was just unlucky and that a quicklink will be all that's needed.
  2. LOL yeah. Some of the gaps you can do both ways.
  3. I found a Tracer 2 for my buddy in the classifieds for R15k a couple of weeks ago. Full XT.
  4. Nige, on the Spruit we have to jump similar gaps without the assistance of gravity in the run up So yes we will be sessioning that one.
  5. Thanks man. Rides like a dream and loves to get air. It also manages to smooth gnarly descents asif it has rear suspension.
  6. Been riding 20+ years as an adult. Cannot remember all the steel road frames I went through. Had a few ally road frames before starting with the MTBs. Have owned 6 in the last 10 years, so just about a new one every two years. Still own 4 of the 6 although not all built up.
  7. I dig the part where the test rider "pinch flatted" the inner tube and as a result got more pressure in the outer.
  8. I reckon I grab the SS about half the time. Mainly so that I don't rack up too many miles on the Enduro bike. It's the low maintenance option when its muddy out. I run a 36 x 18 ratio on 26" wheels which suits me perfectly.
  9. I have switched someone who swore at me during an argument about him dropping his wrapper. Not hard enough to send him flying, just tapped his bars with my saddle to give him a scare and make him stop.
  10. Didn't think about that. The angle of the spokes on the larger wheel will be different. Honestly, it's like the plastic covering on your new cellphone's LCD or plastic over a new cars seats. Yes, you can leave it on but you really shouldn't.
  11. Can't remember when last my chain went into the spokes. Probably when I was on a Hyper Special in primary school 25+ years ago. If the limits are set correctly then it's just about impossible for the chain to hop off the top ofthe cassette. Ja, just toss the thing. If it was a necessary item it would be made out of something more meaningful than cheap plastic. And likely come in a range of cutout shapes and anodised colours.
  12. On such a long race with so much ascent every extra kilo you carry slows you down and tires you out. Especially taxing is that 8 hour portage over a mountain range. (disclaimer: I haven't done it but am friends with some of the top guys) Besides, Hope hubs plus a strong light rim built properly is bulletproof.
  13. When you create a segment, make it private.
  14. Agree with Thuggie on the hubs but would go for WTB i19 rims.
  15. Forgot to update this thread with the final result. Went with red hubs instead of the black. When I get around to it Jammin' will go on the frame somewhere... http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/IMG_20131224_074234_zpsajkelflf.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-12/IMG_20131224_074654_zpst9wozhcp.jpg
  16. Just to be sure this is what not to aim for: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/20140206_084522_zpsfpz9roqn.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/20140206_084601_zpscyifnhck.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/Mobile%20Uploads/2013-12/IMG_20131224_074654_zpst9wozhcp.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/IMG_20131224_074234_zpsajkelflf.jpg
  17. I have a question though. Are we allowed to fix up the "Enduro" line?
  18. I was going to say just that.
  19. Only mean that I likely won't be there this year.
  20. Pieter, I have a feeling that this is going to coincide with a certain yet to be announced Enduro...
  21. Good thing you know someone who knows what to do with muscle spasms then
  22. I have that exact green one on my yellow Marley. There are probably only a couple of these bikes in SA. You not supposed to copy my build
  23. I think that hole in the fence became pallisade.
  24. The only way is to get some overalls and silkscreen SH!TY PARKS on the back.
