  1. Nope. Sold it a few years later for nearly as much as I paid for it.
  2. Back in the day there was a shop in Eastgate which was divided between a hardware store (can't remember name) and Eastgate Cycles. Eldron and greatwhite raced for them and worked in the store when I met them. Bought my first bicycle as an adult there - a Haro MTB in 1991.
  3. I have tried on Jasons... before he rode with it. But have not ridden with one yet. Yeah, looking a couple of hundred more than that...
  4. The IXS Trail helmet is not going to be that well priced. Unfortunately. Especially with the exchange rate... The fit is awesome though.
  5. Also known as: Spot the pumpkin
  6. I've known Clint for more than 20 years and he was my LBS then. Even now, whenever I assist someone in purchasing a new bike I will inevitably end up at Finish Line. Whenever I walk in there (which may only be once a year these days) I always receive a loud enthusiastic greeting. Clint has always gone out of his way to assist so that kind of service that you experienced is the norm there. Even though it is a good distance out of my way FLC is the only shop I consider an LBS. I even designed the first edition of their logo
  7. Got mine for a Samsung from Thule Woodmead.
  8. Why don't you just show the wife? She is OCD when it comes to cleaning... Haven't got any proper suggestions, sorry.
  9. S3 stays in my hydration pack just like all my previous phones. No problems.
  10. Will happily introduce you and anybody else to the more exciting sections of the Spruit which most bypass. Best part about it is that Bundaberg is about 1km from my house.
  11. I have just ordered the orange.
  12. Yes. I have it on good first hand authority that it is not one of his strong suits.
  13. Great pics and an awesome, awesome line. Nothing dangerous - very progressive. Some Spruit rides now just end up being 10 runs down the Bundaberg. The addition of the double caught some out the first time and that new big gap is superb to hit at speed. Have thanked the Spruit Fairy in person
  14. Good to hear this. I have some Funn products bought from CRC. At least they make wide bars and short stems at decent prices.
  15. 4 trail bikes on the roof on a 2010 Subaru Forester. At 120km/h consumption on average goes up 3 litres per 100kms (normal around 8l/100) depending on the amount of head or side wind. I can live with it.
  16. Used roofracks for the last couple of years and clean bikes is one of he biggest advantages.
  17. Even try your usual frame size and go with shorter stem and wider bars (700mm or more). The short stem will push you back a bit but the wide bars will compensate by bringing your body weight forward and lower. The wide bars give you more control and at the same time you get much faster steering due to the short stem.
  18. The frame is probably too big for you unfortunately. 24mm may not sound like much but it makes a big difference in top tube length. In a good way!!
  19. For me... Farmasutra has taken over as the end of year MTB party.
  20. Plain cable ties are *** and will damage your paintwork but if you don't want to lose your warranty there is a neater method using a cable tie and a plastic gear cable ferrule. Basically, cut the closed end off the ferrule and insert the cable tie through it, loop over the gear cable and back through the ferrule. Obviously close the cable tie after going through the lug on the frame. I will post a pic of it later if anyone is interested...
  21. Not sure of the details but I read somewhere that Spesh let Fuji use one of their suspension designs as part of the deal.
  22. A 1 inch drop? Sounds hectic. Besides what has already been mentioned I use it to: Pin a series of downhill corners as it allows to move the bike exactly where you need it. Set myself up for a bunnyhop or prejump. Practise manualling and drop it half way for wheelies.
  23. This just reinforces my opinion of them as a bunch of corporate asshats. Will never own anything made by them.
  24. Assuming that distance takes you around 2 to 2,5 hours on a MTB? Your intensity is probably quite high for most of that time... Be careful not to make all your trainng high intensity. My suggestion is to ride easily (low intensity around 60% effort) just one day in the week/weekend with the aim of increasing the amount of time you spend on the bike. Increase time by 10-15% every week until you can comfortably ride for as long as you want to. Don't reduce your short high intensity efforts. The difficulty with MTBing is finding flat easy terrain where you can do this. Trying it indoors would e mind numbing.
