I've ridden most of KZN, the best of the Freestate, Mphumalanga and Gauteng but only ridden Cape trails once a few years ago. They were seriously good but KZN had the edge back then IMHO. I've heard that the Capetown trails are much better now. Will need to go ride them again soon. Was invited by family today as it happens...

If I have to think of the fastest single track I've ever done then it is probably Giba.

Agree with Sidewinder. Karkloof is stunning. But then Cascades and Giba are too shabby either. I will add the little known Waterval Boven trails. Not an extensive trail network but rather quality over quanity. Quite happy that not too many know about them. But if Glenn stages a mini Enduro type event, I can see them becoming popular. Also the descent down Spioenkop is sublime.

My fat Hope Floating rotors fit nicely in my Elixir 5 calipers.

No, it's not technical the way most XC riders do it. Lots of awesome hidden tech bits that you have to go look for.

The tyres are so good they fly off the shelves... Unlikely to even find them at a LBS.

None in Gauteng yet. There will be one end Feb in Eastern Freestate next year. Will let you know more details. BUt if you want a sneek preview of those enduro trails then you can enter Farmasutra Van Gaalens will most likely have one sometime. The rest of the time we travel down in small groups to do the SA Enduro series in KZN Enduros at Giba, Karkloof and Cascades.

Maybe some of these bottleneck sheep will consider entering Enduros? At this stage Enduro has 50 to 100 entrants. Such a brilliant format: you give the guy ahead of you a minute or two, start the clock and then bomb down the single track after him. You usually don't even see any other riders on your runs.

From chatting to some trail fairies who worked on this... They seem to think that the smell comes from the water vegetation growing around there.
