  1. Bateleur1 - Packed up by the time the 71st cyclist gets in... Then the race is as bad as the guy that started this thread says... I must admit I didn't search for a medal, I have never had the need to...
  2. Hey, now that you mention it... I never got a medal!!! I'm still sure it is the toughest one dayer out there - Imagone 5% climb to the finish line!!!!
  3. I think the question was :"Is this a compact crank?" The answer : I doubt it, that looks like a standard 53/39 setup. Besides that is a Veloce crank of a year or 2 (or more) ago, did you get that in compact?
  4. Assos retail pricing on janjcycling.co.za and then try the onlineshop www.cyclingshop.co.za They have your item there
  5. Isn't neoprene overkill? They don't breathe, so your feet sweat and then it gets $%^&*cold ! Why not layer toe caps, belgian booties and a light bootie? Works for hands, should work for feet too!
  6. Mr Brighter lights, Ichecked out your website and it is AWESOME what your lights can do, I am really impressed. As a fun rider, I tend to go out at 5:30 maybe once ,twice a week at that time of the morning. Spending R3500 on a light you are going t use 15-20 times a year (Peak winter June to July is 9 weeks x 2 ) is a bit steep. How about building a bang for the buck light in with approximately the performane of the Sigma Karma/Topeak Moonshine(when it works) for a better price. I just do not think I can justify the big price tag for limited use? Great job anyway!!!!
  7. I suppose that settles it...
  8. Any hubbers had any trouble with the Topeak 3H? I am considering buying ne second hand bt the reviews I have found on the web are not too great, seems like they are not great lights, despite all the promise - it sure looks and sounds impressive if you consider the sales talk...
  9. I hit a pot hole recently and dinged my rear rim (slightly) The weel still runs true, despite this minor ding. I never noticed this until fitting new tyres this weekend. Does anyone know whether it can be fixed or should I replace the rim? BTW : Campagnolo Zonda Thanks
  10. Where can I see what this Intense bike looks like? I can only find bmx bikes on the website
  11. Suppose he weighs about 84kg. XC riding... Why Giant, they are so .......... boring?
  12. My future brother-in-law is in the market for a MTB. Just because I have ridden the CApe Epic he considers me to be an encyclopedia on what MTB to buy. He is 37 years old and not very price sensitive ( he is looking at spending about R30k on a bike) Any suggestions on what he should buy? At present he is looking at the Specialized Epic Expert and Gary Fisher HI-FI. How are the Scott Spark's (saw plenty of them at the Epic) and where on earth can one find Cannondale Scalpels in Pta/Jhb? I still rekcon the scalpel is worth a look at... Any input welcome
  13. Oh yes, B group averages about 28-30km/h...
  14. Dee, Christie is right. The Select Cycling Club (Bruce Reynecke Cycles)rides are quite fun, used to be tough but are not too hard lately (probably due to Cape Epic riders riding longer at a lower intensity). Pace should pick up nicely again after this weekend...(could go to about 33-35km/h)
  15. I ride with a RockShox Reba World Cup and I'm very happy with it , remote lock out and all. Bit pricey though. At 1403 g The SID world cup is probably the way to go...
  16. That is Hermanus, not Hermnaus...
  17. Hi, I'm preparing for the Epic and heading down to Durbanville and Hermanus next week. I have never been there with an MTB and I would appreciate any input regarding some decent training routes in the area. I will be in Durbanville Wednesday/Thursday and Hermnaus Friday to Sunday.
