  1. Sorry Robbie, it's never easy saying goodbye
  2. Thanks Ed, looks like I have Eureka growing in my garden. It's really cool having lemons readily available for all the baking that I do
  3. That's interesting, I haven't experienced this problem. I'm not sure of the names of the different lemon varieties we have here in SA, but were you possibly using the type with the really knobbly thick skin? The bitterness in a lemon comes from the pith, and those thicker variety have quite a thick pith. I generally use the thin skinned type of lemon which has a very thin pith.
  4. You'll probably get more flavour from halved lemons under the meat rather than just the juice
  5. 'Angel' Scar
  6. Infuriating! I watched a woman in the car in front of me get distracted the other day and started veering directly towards a cyclist. I started hooting and she quickly realised and corrected. How she didn't clip him is beyond me, she was literally 2cms away. I've also had a guy clip me with his side mirror and continue driving away once. I was very shaken but also happy to see his mirror dangling down the side of his car. It was on the South road uphill so I was never going to catch up to him.
  7. This was most probably the case with wannabe's wife, but he also said that the ITSA stated that there was nothing due to them. I would personally ask for a re-assessment. Unless there was tax due from a previous assessment and SARS decided the refund belonged to them.
  8. Yes, her PAYE deduction is her tax contribution. If she had tax deducted then she couldn't have been under the threshold. Unless the months she was employed and contributing were in a different tax year?
  9. So I know this isn't a cooking tip/recipe, but I thought it would be appropriate to share here being a cycling forum My most recent project: TDF cookies
  10. ......and soon that list will expand to include some twins I'm sure ;-)
  11. It's that little gadget that you used to carry around in your sock for your kuif back in the 70's
  12. I forgot my comb at home today. It's the simplest little thing that can be a problem if you're a woman... or Peter Sagan Anyway, I did the best that I could using my fingers as a makeshift comb. I'm walking around the office looking a bit like I just got out of bed. note to self: buy a spare comb to live at the office
  13. Well.... I haven't yet, but that's not to say that I can't ;-)
  14. I've been busy for the last couple of weeks making Macarons
  15. Please don't, then I'm going to find myself getting into a lot of trouble. The pavement is where I like to stay alive.
  16. I think I might be in love

  18. Yes, quite sure ;-) A lower protein flour cooks faster and produces a crisper base. Bread flour could be substituted if you're looking for a softer, more chewy base.
  19. Finally..... Crispy pizza base dough 500g Cake flour 250g Lukewarm water 15g Instant yeast 7g salt 62g olive oil You can either make this in a mixer with a dough hook or by hand. Mix the lukewarm water and olive oil together. Put dry ingredients into a bowl. Add wet ingredients to dry and work into a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for +-10 mins. It should form a smooth ball by the time you're done. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with clingfilm (poke a small hole in for it to breath) and a tea towel. Place in a warm dark place to prove until its about doubled in size. Remove from the bowl, knead it until it's pliable. Divide the dough and roll it into rounds. I don't pre bake these bases. I usually just put my toppings on and bake. This makes +-4 regular pizzas from what I remember. Enjoy
  20. I forgot!! I'll try to remember tonight
  21. I have the perfect recipe for a thin, crispy crust, but it's at home, so I'll have to post it later
  22. I bought myself a pair of running leggings that have a zip pocket at the back. My distance to work is a bit far to run, but I have occasionally run 10kms to the bus stop and then hopped on a bus for the rest of the journey. On those occasions I have my phone wrapped in a zip-lock bag in my pocket. It fits nice and snug, so I hardly notice it's there.
  23. Here is the link to next weeks challenge: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/167751-sani2c-commuting-challenge/
  24. Yes, the whole distance will be considered a commute. As long as you don't go home first. I think a lot of us will have to be creative and make little loops at the beginning and/or end of our rides to make up the distance.
  25. I have much to learn......
