  1. Sometimes I have to get my laptop to work or home. I just 'double bag' it in those black dustbin bags. I've ridden in rain before and had no problems. I obviously prefer not riding with it, but sometimes have no choice
  2. Well.... I haven't yet, but that's not to say that I can't ;-)
  3. I've been busy for the last couple of weeks making Macarons
  4. Cat-i gave me the genius idea of using Tapiriik to sync to Endomondo from Strava. It took maybe an hour, but loaded all of my rides from the time I joined Strava. Then the only manual intervention required was changing my rides to 'Cycle - Transport'
  5. Please don't, then I'm going to find myself getting into a lot of trouble. The pavement is where I like to stay alive.
  6. Well done! My part time job is taking up all my free time at the moment with a deadline looming, so I've had to abandon cat-i for a while. But I must confess, I check the leaderboard daily to see how far I've dropped down the list
  7. I think I might be in love
  8. That is quite impressive. Unfortunately my commuting has come to a sudden and grinding halt. It's just temporary. I need to get back on my bike as #10 (whoever you are ) is closing in on me That and I'm a 8kms away from 900. Had I known that on Monday I would've make a bit more effort
  9. Does anyone have more info on this? It's rather concerning since Victory park is part of my commute. I've never felt unsafe riding through there
  10. Best you figure out how to sync your data so you stand a fighting chance... who knows what the next trophy could be?!
  11. Wow! If I had a commute with that scenery, I'd want to commute every day!
  12. Like I said somewhere else, the challenge was a bit anti climatic... I couldn't arrange fireworks, but I can bake (and biscotti can't get too damaged in a backpack on a commute). It was well received
  13. GT Zaskar 9r MTB 2x10 setup My ride is about half on tar, half off road. Bits of the Spruit and then dirt track next to the road most of the way into Rivonia. Riding my road bike to work would be suicidal
  14. Yes, quite sure ;-) A lower protein flour cooks faster and produces a crisper base. Bread flour could be substituted if you're looking for a softer, more chewy base.
  15. Finally..... Crispy pizza base dough 500g Cake flour 250g Lukewarm water 15g Instant yeast 7g salt 62g olive oil You can either make this in a mixer with a dough hook or by hand. Mix the lukewarm water and olive oil together. Put dry ingredients into a bowl. Add wet ingredients to dry and work into a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for +-10 mins. It should form a smooth ball by the time you're done. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with clingfilm (poke a small hole in for it to breath) and a tea towel. Place in a warm dark place to prove until its about doubled in size. Remove from the bowl, knead it until it's pliable. Divide the dough and roll it into rounds. I don't pre bake these bases. I usually just put my toppings on and bake. This makes +-4 regular pizzas from what I remember. Enjoy
  16. Ooooohhhh... I just felt a small surge of testosterone and almost picked up the gauntlet at my feet. Then I remembered last weeks commutes
  17. and we did it!! Cat-i finished first and completed more than the required distance and ascent. My mileage ended up at 268kms for the week and 3655m ascent so I was +-67m short on climbing, but goal no one for me was replicating the distance. Well done to everyone that took part I won't commute 5 days in a row in a hurry again...
  18. oh well, at least I don't have any distance to catch up. My shortest commute will complete the challenge for me. Thereafter, I'm thinking pizza, red wine, couch and blankie* *don't judge me, I've earned it this week
  19. and then the rain came down.........
