I have 2 solutions that have worked for me in the past: just don't keep any chocolates/sweets in the house. If they're there, I'm going to eat them Brush your teeth straight after eating dinner. Chocolate doesn't taste the same when you've just brushed teeth, and if you're lazy like me, it's going to be too much effort to brush my teeth again after eating the chocolate

I've been shot by a BB gun going up Krugersdorp hill, one shot straight to the butt cheek. The pain was unbelievable, inflicted by a bunch of youngsters that obviously thought it was cool and/or funny. My reaction was a full blown verbal attack, which they found even funnier. 4 against 1? I just let it go

I personally don't ride in kit of events that I haven't completed but I know some people that have bought gear at the Epic as spectators and ride in it. I didn't realize it was such a sensitive thing to do.

I've ridden that road. It's truly a spectacular view. Pictures just don't do it justice

Long Tom is worse than Spitskop IMO, or maybe I was just tired by the time I got to Long Tom

I've tried the phone in pocket method, but I always manage to drop the signal somewhere along the way. On the upside, when I download to Strava it looks like I've been running 3min kays

Are you kidding me? Compared to what? I guess it's all relative. Hell & Back was one of the most challenging events I've participated in.

I try my best to make way and be considerate as much as possible. Common courtesy is the key. I've only ever had one 'run in' with a pedestrian, I was going uphill through the trees in delta park and she was walking down the hill in the same bit of singletrack. Unfortunately I was finding it challenging to move out of her way because I was in a bit of a rut and travelling at a pretty slow speed (coupled with being slightly technically challenged). All it would've taken was one single step sideways for her and the problem would've been averted, but like the OP she chose to 'hold her line'. I was forced to a physical stop, followed by a load of verbal abuse about MTB'ers in general. I had to bite my tongue and remind myself that any reaction from me would've been useless because she had already made her mind up. Why can't we all just get along?
