  1. ok,wait.... next stupid question..... Are these bluetooth heart sensors coded, or app specific? so if I get a H7 POLAR, can it only sync with the POLAR apps? Do you get a universal type that can be used with a few different Apps? Man, where are the days of no technology, when power training was Hekpoort in 53/12, and intervals was around the block with the neighbors gate open and the bull terrier roaming......
  2. Thanks Guys, I just phoned POLAR and they have the H7 Bluetooth sensor and Wahoo also have a nice one, I went to a I store and they dont have a specific Apple brand, they do have a list of compatible brands, going to see if I can pick up a unwanted unit, if not, buy my wife one... Happy wife = happy life!
  3. ok, so she'll need POLAR blue tooth sensors, or does Iphone make a heart strap, like the runners uses.....? Thanks guys, I really appreciate this....
  4. OK, explain a little, so you can down load a POLAR app and then use a standard POLAR heart strap that the phone actually picks up and registers, or do you mean you down load the data from the POLAR Head unit. She has the CS200 Polar set up but dont really enjoy it. So you mean she can take away the Polar CS200 Head unit and the Iphone will sync to the POLAR Cadence and speed and heart sensor, and she can run it through the app? Thanks Quincy !!
  5. Does anyone use the Iphone as a training tool, my wife saw a video on YouTube where a Iphone 5 is mounted on the bike and is linked to a heart and cadence sensor, and the phone has a app that has a actual "coach" with target figures that you have to reach and maintain.... I'd love to hear what you think of this and if anyone is using this system, she loves her training but is scared of training on the road, so she sits on the indoor trainer but gets bored after half an hour, so I think this would motivate her more. Where can I get more info on this system... Thanks in advance...
  6. I have the same issue in summer, the warmer it gets, the worse I get, usually around 2 to 3pm if I have had a hard 5 to 7 am training ride...... I upped my morning snacks, loads fruit and a new trick, i make a very watery Future life drink, that really helped.... Future life breakfast with lots of water and I drink that....
  7. Once again a taxi......... WTF are they doing in the yellow line....... Cutting ques, shooting up the inside and pulling infront of the que again........ I bet he is doing his afternoon route already! The police, law enforcement and accountability in this country is pathetic! Just like the woman that went through a red robot almost killing Koos Klopper!
  8. Ok,what about trying this! On the next page in the Pta news is a article covering the "thief" who had his hands chopped off in Plastic view for stealing,so I'd say they also "gatvol" of theft. Now,what would happen if we could meet with the squatter camps senior community leaders and explain the issues and offer a reward....... We would soon get results, and a wheel barrow of limbs!
  9. Does the SAPS (Soon As Possible Service) have a Twitter acc that we can flood, or any form of web page? That protest ride aint a bad idea, especially if we all bring along a dirty beer bottle with a rag sticking out..........and parade around the "informal settlemant".... That would kick up a storm! What ever we can do,we should do!
  10. What about a colour photo of the bike,we flood Twitter with it?!!
  11. Who is the cyclist that was shot, what's his condition, and what bike is missing,we, as cyclists may spot it being used in the vacinity, or it may be sold to a shop in the area?? Trust me,I was attacked at gun point and beaten up on Klapperkop a few years back, its not fun, and it really scared me about where and when I train..... Guys, be real carefull out there, and let's keep our eyes open and find his bike and try kick up such a stink that the Cops are forced to react!
  12. This has been just wating to happen,if you read the other thread, or live in that area, like I do you will know the extent of crime in that area linked to the two "informal" settlements, there is almost daily events, and the police are simply over loaded. Last week the squatters took law into their own hands and chopped another residents hands off........ About time we as tax paying residents started doing the same! This country is practically at civil war in the neibourhoods, and nothing gets done!
  13. Ok guys,I visited Koos @ 11 am, I must admit,he looks beeter each day, but he is still ventilated but his lung function is improving to the point that they are reducing the sedation and his eyes do flutter when I call him.....and his heart beat goes up when Theresa kisses him! They most serious bit now is the op to pin and plate his leg, and he will need a skin graft but the Dr is trying to postpone this as long as possible as this will knock Koos's already fragile system! But for me there is a massive improvement from last week, oh and they IV feeding him too............ I think the Big Lad is gonna pull through...!! He really had us worried last week, but as the Dr said,we not outa the woods yet!
  14. Update: I've just been to see Koos, and there is a vast improvement, the bodily swelling has gone down, his colour is back and he is very stable! Theresa and I spoke to the Dr and he is very happy with the condition! They are slowly reducing adrenaline and are slowly going to bring him out of sedation and see if he can breath on his own! Its looking good! Doubletririder, thank you for all you did,Theresa is trying to contact you but I think your cell number is written down wrong, so please get hold of me. The real issue with the lady was that she never reported the accident to SAPS within 24 hours, but she did go yesterday with Theresa and has admitted to going through red, so that's all sorted! We just need that witness statement please... I would just like to say, guys, we all know this can be a dangerous sport on dangerous roads, but I like to "believe" that no person would purposely run a cyclist down.
  15. Quick update! I managed to trace the lady, she has met Koos's wife and a case has been opened and she openly admits to going through a red robot..... Koos is doing better this afternoon so is going into theatre to clean up a infection in a wound that is putting strain on his kidneys! Things are looking better! I am really glad the driver has admitted and spoken to Theresa, she does sound sorry. Now we must support Koos and family..... This has taken a lot out of them.....

  17. Ok Guys, update. The Doctors are not going to opperate and pin his leg today, all though he is showing small signs of improvement, they feel his body is not stable enough to cope with the op. He is still ventilated but stable, all vitals are good and the bleeding has stopped. He did wake up last night and tried to pull out pipes, so that's also a good sign...... I have managed to trace the driver, she has not reported it to SAPS yet.... And on the system, the reg does not match the vehicle......... Very fishy!!! I have a few friends investigating..... Theresa asked me to thank each and every person for their support, she never realized how many people know Koos! I may need to ask for help regarding what to do if this turns out to be a "dodgy" case....
  18. Hi Guys,Koos is in a bad way,but stable! He is in ICU at UNITAS with a crushed right leg with external traction, they are waiting for him to recover from yesterdays emergency op to try stop internal bleeding at a ruptured kidney,at first they thought they may need to remove the kidney but they did manage to slow/stop the bleeding. He has broken all the ribs on his right side and a puntured lung, he is on a ventilator to help breathing and prevent the lung colapsing. His C1 (neck) vertebra is also cracked. When I left last night he was stable, and they were monitoring his bleeding. He is a big strong lad, I am positive...... And yes, a woman went straight through a red robot at speed and hit him,"fortunately" being 2 meters tall, means his lower torso and legs took all the impact...... He was fully awake when paramedics came and at UNITAS. I will keep you guys all posted and please, look first before you cross a green robot, we clearly have no rights on SA roads....... The woman that hit him left her number and went on to enjoy her day, while my mate is critical and his family are frantic.......
  19. Our road racing in SA is pathetic! Years ago there were atleast 3 to 4 events a week in NTVL alone, and a Summer league on Lynwood rg, a winter league at Swartkops and track..... Along with Rapport tour, Hansom tour,Boland tour, Hill climb champs and inter provincials, and the amazing Sunny park kermesse... all licensed events! Now licensed riders are just a tiny group ahead of A bunch..... I miss those days.....
  20. Rollers are best! I do 1 to 2 hours a day,I start off on 53/21 for ten min,and gear down each 10 min on my pace day. On interval day I warm up and stay on 53/16 but then do 5 3 min interval on 53/11..... I try keep my heart rate as high as possible, basically max, when I get off I am shivering with exertion! I have a better interval work out on the rollers than I do on the road!

  22. Hi guys! I've recently started training relatively hard for the upcoming Duathlon season, being a relatively good Time trial rider, I am concentrating on putting down a good running base but I am struggling with over pronation, which in turn is causing severe plantar tendonitis, due to my arches colapsing! Are there any really good prosthetic inner soles I can try or a podiatrist that some one can recommend in Pta! Thank you Jay: 0832339674
  23. I've got a set of ITM gull wing aero bars that come off a lotus, and 8 speed Mavic disc off a Lotus!
