  1. Don't listen to the fun police, you definately need a new bike! Of the ones you listed I would take the P3 hands down however my first choice would be one that you haven't listed.... a Shiv. Full Di2 and Zipp 606.
  2. Outside assistance is a straight red which is a instant DQ.
  3. If I were marshalling and it wasn't a guy going for the podium or an AG podium then I think just a "hey stop that" would be sufficient, followed by a time penalty if they didn't listen. I mean to take a finish away from a guy for something that has no impact on the rest of the race is just not in the spirit!
  4. I kind of understand this rule because imagine if everyone on the run sunddely had a mate or two running with them, it would be chaos. However, to DQ a BOPer (I assume) because he had someone running along side him right near the end of the race just sounds like poor implementation of the rules. I guess though you need 1 rule for everyone.
  5. In IMSA last year they had official mechanics on the course helping people. Indeed they helped get me up and running when I broke a spoke and my wheel went so out of true I could not continue.
  6. Congradulations on the result mate. You are super strong! You made me realise I've got a lot of work to do.
  7. It was a nice event although tough and with a strong field of riders! A lack of chip timing was surprising given it is 2012 but otherwise it was well run and well organized.
  8. wow, that pink bar tape is a nice touch! I like!
  9. I prefer a 1 piece. But, if you're planning on doing IMSA you may as well get a two piece as you will need to wear the spec savers shirt that they give you (provided you do the subsidised entry) and will need to wear it over your 1 piece anyway. Make sure you wear both top and bottom under your wetsuit as trying to put a tight fitting shirt onto a wet body after the swim can be a bit of a mission and wastes time in transition.
  10. If you are checking your HR before you cycle that is not your resting heart rate. You will have been getting changed, walking to the garage, getting your bike out, pumping your tires etc. Mine would probably also be 105 just before I set of for a ride. Take it as soon as you wake up in the morning before you get out of bed and it will be a lot lower than that. If you have a max of 220 and you recover quickly then I would say you are pretty fit indeed.
  11. 2 months ago or next year. take your pick.
  12. Like the other chap said that is difficult to answer but I wouldn't think you would be unrealistic to expect +-32kph average if you get a decent day weather wise. Just remember to keep fueling yourself and stay as aero as possible and you will be fine.
  13. 1km of running = 8.27km of cycling on the road or 3.7689km of mountain biking or 0.125km fr swimming or 0.43km of walking
  14. It's about 800m in total or about 275m a lap. The first 10km of each lap is up a long drag of a hill which is easy to maintain 30km/h up. Then there is a long gentle downhill followed by about 10km of gentle rolling and then the rest of the course is pretty much flat. The only enemy on that course could be the wind so make sure you've got a nice aero setup.
  15. I don't have one so it isn't an option for me. I've got some clip on aero bars but for a 7km TT I'm not sure I will even bother. Any idea how many entries there are?
  16. I can no longer do the Panorama so am considering this as an alternative... anyone else decided to enter?
  17. I buy alot of stuff (particularly Specialized) overseas as I have connections in the US and the UK. The reason I do it though is product range and availability because the local crowd are pretty useless. Although hopefully that will change now that Specialized have come in directly but the evidence of that remains to be seen. The bikes and frames are pretty much the same price in the US and the UK as the are here so unless you find a real bargain it is not worth the bother. The clothes, shoes and helmets and significantly cheaper overseas and worth getting if you can but if you're going to have them shipped and you end up paying import duties and VAT then they are not. The only way it works out cheaper is if you have a mate who can bring them back for you.
  18. Those are the nicest wheels I have ever seen! Please watch out as I might highjack you if I ever see you out riding on that.
  19. The road from Umdloti to Ballito is fine. I cycle it at least once a week normally more. It gets a bit busy during peak times but if you're done by 7 on week days and 830/9 on weekends you'll be fine.
  20. My only recommendation would be to get one with a power meter. Very very useful for training indoors.
  21. I've never done the Argus but might get it anyway so people can think I am awesome. Now if only they made a shirt that said I am a sub 10 iron man finisher!
  22. I find it very comfortable and well ventilated. I like it some much I'm on my third one. The first was lost in tranisition at a triathlon and the second was destroyed in a crash. The only thing I would say is the sizes come up very big... I have a big head and only need a medium.
