  1. If he did just one thing differently he probably would have made it, and thats stand up. as the rear wheel hit the launch there was no give to absorb that kick that the rear did, and he was basically bucked off the bike. Sitting and ramping is never going to end pretty. The thing with the tuck and roll is; you need to actually practice it to do it effectively, and that means having a fair share of falls under your belt Another problem is that most riders, don't seem to want to accept the fact that they are mid face plant and about to eat dirt until they actually hit the ground. Pro riders seem to know a lot sooner that they have exceeded their talents and bail out in time to minimize the pain us lesser riders seem to attract for seemingly far more minor crashes.
  2. In your best Inspector Clouseau accent?
  3. I don't know why so many people try defend aggressive / dangerous dogs. Especially ones that are allowed to roam free outside their yards. Some dogs are better off getting the lethal injection. Same thing goes for some dog owners, unfortunately thats not legal.
  4. Nevermind, should read the whole post before commenting
  5. Agreed. I have the arch (not ex's) on my AM bike and they get a fair beating (I'm 83kg) no problems.
  6. To much rubbing and it can damage the paintwork. But if you're careful it will get it off.
  7. Try q20 or even baby oil. Don't know for sure if it will work but they are good for getting an number of sticky substances off surfaces.
  8. People need to get over this whole nudity being so taboo thing. Nakedskydiver, I salute you sir.
  9. Best you switch to rockstar then, they have cool black pull tabs.
  10. Neither do I...
  11. Come to think of it... I ride a 150mm dual suspension 26er with flat pedals and wear baggies. My riding partner rides a 29 dual xc bike, clipless pedals and wearsfull lycra. I occasionally mock him about looking like a f@g, and he occasionally mocks me when he comes flying past me on a long boring straight. Guess it all evens out in the end
  12. I have a couple of troy lee baggies, but any baggies will do actually.
  13. I have work on the sunday, but if I can get out of it, then I'm 90% there, then just to clear with the minister of finance and transport and I'm there
  14. Don't know why I didn't think of that. I have an awesome Airoh mx helmet at home from my super moto days..
  15. Everything Patches said! I went from clipless to flat and have never looked back. If you can pull off a 2 foot bunny hop using the pull up on your cleats "technique" then by all means stick with that. If not learn correct technique. It is possible to lift the bike with your cleats, but you are limiting your performance and ability. Edit: Patches beat me to it
  16. I can't see the benefit of Lycra. My baggies are extremely comfy, even on long rides, and any aerodynamic advantage it gives must be negligible at best (talking mtb here) and zero for anyone but a pro. I can understand the benefits of a 29er for the xc mad majority of SA riders, but I'll stick with my 26er thanks. I went from clipless to flats and I haven't found a reason yet to ever go back to clipless.
  17. Not sure dude. I haven't committed yet, but the idea is very appealing. I would think leaving on the Friday morning or midday latest would be wise.
  18. Even if it does make a difference, you have to find a balance between safety and performance. Taking a big spill in a skin suit vs. wearing protective gear will result in quite different recovery times. And... skin suit + 510's + full face = retarded
  19. Will def make a weekend of it if I manage to get down there. Are you going to play tour guide for us GPers?
  20. I would be. I don't have a full face though. But that's just a good reason to get one It would be nice if we could find a vehicle that could transport 3 or 4 of us + bikes et al. And some kind of self catering nearby, that way it would be more affordable, if you could share in the costs.
  21. +1
  22. Definitely don't use Vaseline!!! Vaseline melts at an extremely low temp. First ride it will all run out. Use it for plikking if you want but not on your bike.
  23. Sad but true even Mankele, which is probably the closest is still a 350km drive for me.
  24. We need more of these races in GP.
  25. It's boring. And it doesn't flow nicely. As some have mentioned, it's ok for a family outing with young ones, but otherwise I wouldn't waste my time going there. Rather go to big red barn, awesome flowing trails, and even my 10 yr old can ride it with me, so it's good for the family too.
