True, but usually only if it is arranged in advance. I've also travelled with my bike (in a box) and stuffed clothes etc into the box so I had one piece of checked luggage. They don't worry too much about a bike boxed, but I know some airlines refuse to carry loose bikes ..... they used to. The point I was making was that passengers should check things like baggage restrictions when they book the ticket. A few years ago I went to CT the same weekend as the Argus and my bag never ever arrived - got it during the following week when I was already home - SAA told me the reason was because of all the bikes they had to carry.

Sorry, but the ticket you booked was for yourself, 1 piece of cabin baggage (usually 7kg) and I piece checked baggage weighing not more than 20kg. Its also up to pax to check the conditions pertaining to the ticket and imagine if everyone on every flight just arrived with a huge cardboard box demanding that it accompanies them. There'd be utter chaos! Anyway, I don't see why I should put up with endless crahp when I want to fly and I have a camera bag and a laptop bag which together meet both size and weight limits, but its two pieces of cabin baggage. Why not have someone checking entries in the start pens ....... if you haven't paid, they take your number away and there's a fine if you want to get it back. Half the reason why I don't bother pre-entering races is because I have yto go to Pshyco Lab to get the numbers. So why not just enter on the line. but last week I was told by a marshal/official at emperors that there were no line entries then someone else told me this week that there was. A number issued with a licence would work much better than the current system ........... cant we set up a poll, or what does cycle SA say?

Imagine trying to get that bike into a bike bag or box, even a car boot ....... would you cut the seatpost off?

no results ......... then how can it be called a race. More like an expensive fun ride. I'd like to know how organisers can charge money for a so called race and then not have results. We have to have licences but what minimum requirements do organisers have to meet ...... or does CSA even have minimum requirements for events. Does CSA sanction events? if not why do we need licences?

Hey ......... I live in Edenglen and didn't even know there was an Edenglen Cycling club until I re-read this post now ......... I like Edenglen but we're running out of mtb country with the big development at Greenstone, the theiving bustards at Sizwe, and the industrial developments round the back of Route 24 and Klapmekaar Park (Klopper Park) ..... luckily roads are getting so bad it pays to have an mtb!!

Here's an idea ........... couldn't CSA add a R10.00 levy onto each licence and this money then be made available for these type of campaigns. I'd gladly pay an extra R10.00 to see this happening ............ maybe organisers of events could put a R9.75 on each entry fee towards the same .......... or why not have a few people at events collecting money (donations) Sounds far too simple for it too work.
