  1. I have a set of Novatec Flowtrail wheels with which I am very happy.
  2. I am running Rubino Pro 3 tyres tubeless on my s/speed. Novatec Jetfly tubeless ready rims with FRM rim tape and FRM sealant. 90 psi back and 85 front. No problems so far.
  3. Definitely tubeless tyres. They are designed to run tubeless at higher pressure.
  4. Well, then it's obvious that Chuckie knows nothing about bicycles.
  5. I am looking for Pepperspray that delivers a stream in stead of mist. Who in Cape Town stock that?
  6. I have been using the new Maxxis crossmark tubeless ready tyres. No problems so far.
  7. Trash every one on the flats?......bit overconfident I think.
  8. Maizies plastic sells 240 micron clear stone chip for +-R300 per metre.
  9. Cycle on the Bottelaray Rd frequently. Don't see what the problem is. Look back see if it is safe to go over the yellow line....and pass. It is as simple as that.
  10. It is not just cyclists that skip stop Streets. I walk with my wife in the evenings after my cycle. Almost all motorists ignore the stopsigns in the residential area that we walk in.
  11. The problem I have with the doofer is that there is a lot of sideways movement on the jockey wheel. a Wide single speed chain also move from side to side on the narrow jockey wheel which makes it noisy even if it is set up properly. I made a custom tensioner that works with a small roller and pushes the chain up(similar to Gusset bachelor). Works perfectly and is very quiet.
  12. Where do one get those cogs from?
  13. +1 excellent service always.
  14. Awesome! Well done!
  15. I agree that there is definitely a new "breed" of mountain bikers out there. I have been a roadie for 16 years. About 4 years ago I did a couple of mountain events and found that most of the mountain bikers were a very friendly laid back bunch. Due to a back problem I had to stop mountain biking and started road cycling again. Now I find that there is little less roadies on the road and more mountain bikers with an attitude on the road. Maybe most of the "posers" from the roadie side changed to mountain biking?
  16. A good aluminium frame with nice components, good wheelset and properly set up is as good as most carbon bikes.
  17. Hi there, sorry for the hijack, but just a word of caution for the people that cycle this route in the evenings. Keep an eye out for a brown taxi with very dark tinted windows. Tonight coming back from Malanshoogte just past the new road that turns of to N7 this taxi drove up behind me and stayed behind me. As I turned right into Tiekiedraai road he came up right next to me, luckily a guy on a mountain bike coming from Tiekiedraai saw that and sped up. Just before he caught up the taxi took of. I am not sure what his intentions was but I did not have a good feeling about it.
  18. I have been with Cyclesure for years now and haven't had any problems. They always respond immediately to my emails, never turned down a claim.
  19. I have been riding Scwalbe Ultremo zx tubeless tyres on Ksyrium elites for a while now. No punctures yet. Not that difficult to get onto the rims and no problems seating. Run them at relative low pressure and they still rolls incredibly fast and smooth.
  20. I bought the Novatec Jetfly's a few weeks ago and I am very impressed with them. They are light, stiff and very responsive.
  21. I have tried and tested a lot of saddles over 16 years of cycling. I could never be comfortable on any saddle with a hole or groove. I found that a saddle that's wider area the at the back works for me. I am currently riding a San Marco Regale and couldn't be happier. Good quality bibs/shorts are also very important.
  22. Haven't had any problems with my magic gear. I run 16/47 with a small modification to rear axle( filed small flat surface on axle to make the wheel fit with new chain). I have used a YBN track chain and even at. 75% wear chain slack was not a problem. I have fitted a KMC510hx now and hopefully it will last longer. YBN only lasted +- a 1000 km.
  23. Have you got any experience on how long these halflink chains last? I have done 989 km with an 1/8 YBN track chain on my road s/speed and the chain is toast. Kept it clean and lubed. I know that the chain on a s/speed take more strain, but I expected a bit more.
  24. You don't have to buy a single speed frame. Any standard roadbike frame will do. You can buy spacers and sprockets for normal roadwheels online together with a chain tensioner. There is a couple of threads on the hub about single speed bikes, read them and you will catch on very quickly.
