  1. On a pc with chrome installed you can just tap screen device on chrome settings and it then mirrors your device even if you minimize chrome. Useful for PowerPoint etc. At R800 for a chrome cast it's far better than those cheap media players. And you don't want a cable connecting your device to the TV. Becomes a hassle. I can cast Netflix from my iPad and then do something else on the iPad and Netflix still plays.
  2. Google Chromecast works well for me. 2mb line and it works well enough. Would like faster internet but just download the shows on Netflix if you have issues. Have dstv now from somebody else. Very useful.
  3. Foot better after the two oceans half. Now I know what to do for the next one. Rested it for two weeks and iced often.
  4. Banks is a kitchen supply store.
  5. Checkers sell a moka pot. Worth it? R99.
  6. Foot is extremely sore post marathon. Going to ice it often. Went for a 5km run yesterday and it was sore. Peroneal bevis and longus tendons. Hope it's not major... I know the camber on the road was really hectic. "Pain on the side of the foot, whether on the inside or outside, is often due to tendinitis, or inflammation of a tendon. It's usually a result of overuse, such as increasing your mileage too quickly, or improper running shoes. ... Another possible cause of pain on the side of your foot is a stress fracture."
  7. Yeah. I run with a club but they do short runs during the week and I'm one of the faster runners in the club so normally try create a fast group. Weekends they do longer runs but generally at a slow pace. Might need to try up that pace. (not that I joined many of those runs). Used to be a very competitive cyclist and said I would just take this running easy and enjoy it with my Wife. She did a sub 2h30 with also a 10km being her longest run.
  8. First half marathon and did 1 43. Wow. What a tough race. Need to do longer distances before my next half. Normally do 10km with ease at a fast pace.
  9. Woodstock Motorcycle Co. Very cool place. Found the place by chance. Good coffee as well.
  10. Park at Cavendish Square or at UCT and take a run to the start.
  11. Word of caution: Council busy digging trenches in Meadowridge, CPT. They cover the trenches with orange netting instead of placing the netting upright on either side. Fell into one last night. Very sore ankle, glad it wasn't worse. You can only claim from the city if you have damages... Wish they weren't so careless, if an elderly person fell into the trench???
  12. https://www.treetopssolar.co.za/design-solar-battery-system/?fbclid=IwAR3RsdJ0AGTkZSceiJok6XN64QCM5UUdPgUGNo92Vic4Q4CK9U_NfUztkDo Useful to work out your costs and roi.
  13. We use on average 8 units a day.
  14. Would love getting solar but no idea where to start. So many fly by night companies now. Batteries don't last as well. Have somebody down our road with what must be 30 panels. Whole roof is covered.
  15. Post elections load shedding will happen again. ANC can't afford to have load shedding right now. How can anybody possibly vote for them when they can't keep the power on? No excuses.
  16. Manual turn on and off, parents have the geyserwise, useful so you know the temp before showering and can turn on geyser if needed.
  17. Generator for home use.
  18. You get the ones that fit onto your db board, real pain to work. Geyserwise is wonderful and easy to work. Mother in law has a timer and I have to come over to set it. I might just disconnect it. Real pain. Even with the instruction manual I battle. At our house with 2 Adults, we have our geyser on every 3 to 4 days in the morning for an hour before we shower. Wait till we have finished and I can see no units being consumed so I know the geyser is up to full temp. Then switch off for another couple of days. Really no need to have your geyser on everyday.
  19. And everybody is sold out of batteries in my area. Crazy. I'll wait it out till the rush of buying has slowed down. Builders even said as generators come in they all get sold immediately. **my work alarm system has a battery. Will check to see what voltage. Most probably 12v. Could maybe jump the router of that battery but I wonder how long the alarm takes to recharge the battery. It's a paradox alarm. Most systems aren't designed to only be able to charge for 4 hours then be drained again.
  20. A small mecer ups from computer mania will work well for the internet. I wouldn't mind one as well. Invertor system I have never looked at but I do know the batteries don't last and when you replace them often it becomes costly. Know somebody who installed a tesla system and after 2 years all the batteries were dead. Warrenty has just expired as well. Generator is useful as I can also use at work.
  21. Credit to a member on the my bb forum. I have not created this table.
  22. Bought a Honda eu22i. Nice and silent. Only use when needed so as to not waste petrol and irritate the neighbour's. Runs everything we need. Have installed it into the house wiring. Just keep the geyser off and only have one big item on at a time. If you have some electrical knowledge then you can make it work with a smaller generator. Edit: electrician has signed it off.
