  1. Sorry I said 'man - made' , but man tries to reconcile... Adam & Eve tried to cover themselves with fig leaves (first act of religion) when they ate of the forbidden fruit. Then God maid them clothes of skin to show them that by the shedding of innocent blood they will be cevered. The apostle Paul was a jew & he was saved (converted if you will) & was sent out to the gentiles. Religion is man's attempt to reconcile with God (YHWH) When Jesus (Yeshua) died on the cross he cried out: "Tetelistai" / it is finished. John 19:30
  2. Like I said 'christians' One should not make haste to church if you overslept from partying or whatever reason from the previous night-haha. Rather stay home.
  3. Yes if we could by our works get into heaven then you don't even need to believe. & obviously the more money you pour into the church the better seat is reserved for you in heaven... The other thing is some christians or even 'christians' (people saying they are) are just people like everyone here. I mean even professional riders fall. I thought he was pro - how could he fall on that elimentary corner?
  4. Interesting to see how many people try to 'get their say' (in a bashing way) here on a 'pretty normal' situation. If you fell while doing a trick or whatever on your bike & someone laughed would the thread be posted here of that 'sadist'? Religious lunatics... I know it's been said here, but you are allowed to ride on sunday. sunday isn't even the Sabbath. It's pretty intereting that it was changed from saturday to sunday by Constantine because he tried to unite the christians with the (2-3 different) sun worshippers of that time (32something AD). Most christians don't even know it & that's why they fail to defend their religion (for lack of a better word). Christians do not know what they stand for & why. They even think the promises clearly made to Israel was forfeit because of the rejection of Yeshua, but gladly stick out their hands for the blessings Israel was promised. Indeed I also thought that some people take it too far untill I started studying the Bible. At first glance it's easy to make it off as fiction & ridiculous etc. ,but when you really look into the hebrew (& greek) the picture gets colour. Christians dont need to observe Sabbath... Acts 15 if memory serves me well. It's true that we are saved by grace (God's riches at Chrit's expence if you will). We cannot keep the law (10 commandments - not 10 recommendations) The law is actually there to show us our need for salvation. Just my 2c Hope you get better soon
  5. Not picking on you here (Squier) , but since it's mentioned that a 29er goes over an obstacle & a 26er not (as easy). Have anyone actually measured the difference in size of a specific obstacle & ditch which you'll tumble overbars on a 26er & 29er? Basically what I mean is that while you might pedal lighter / less (watookaldieregtewoordinengelsis) will a 29er make you a lazier rider for obstacles? In other words you become a faster, but "weaker" rider on a 29er... I've ridden only a DS 29er (Anthem X2) & must say -not too big difference between it & my 26' Trance X1. At least not enough to spend double the moolas on. When is the 30.5" coming to destroy it's predecessors? Ride what you like/ can afford / what the situation asks for etc...
  6. HAVE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM-WILL PROBABLY END UP BUYING RESIN PADS...
  7. LOL- only saw this now along with the previous post. So true
  8. Was it that silver bike of yours? Probably a nigerian... Hope you find the bike.
  9. First Ascent Rulez!!! Almost all my sportswear is FA. Have got a big hiking wardrobe of FA & the cycling stuff is picking up too. Never had a hassle with their products
  10. @ DeCleated: How many falls so far? Also need to start with clips. My only problem is that I've bought the cranc brothers egg beaters (candy 2) so no tension adjustment. Will probably fall half a dosen times before getting used to it If all else fails I'll try the "fall in most embarrassing way in front of the hottest women possible"
  11. Makes sense. Will try & report back after trying. Thx J
  12. Now that's the big Q? I don't ride with any 'supportive' shorts yet. Looking at buying the First Ascent singletrack in the (very) near future. Guess it's gonna make a BIG difference?
  13. Yeah-I meant 'getting used to'. I do get a discomfort in the hip area too & I can just lift up for a few seconds & I feel it's better already. Didn't have this on my X-mission saddle, but the X-mission was 'hurting' me / pushing up towards the front end of the saddle although it was set level
  14. Very nice +3
  15. Of course it will. It's been foretold... in the BOOK 'youshouldnotbelievewhat'swritteninit'
  16. Could it also be that I'm not yet comfy with my seat because it's not yet 'broken in' according to my physique. How long does it take to 'brake in' a saddle? This saddle on this bike also felt good for a cheapie http://www.silverbacklab.com/web_gallery/stride10.htm
  17. Thx-you don't know where I can get DT X455's at reasonable price? J
  18. Wow-that is GREAT service!
  19. I have to agree that some the cheap seats feels great. Had a short ride on 1 of my friend's new Silverback (can't remember the model / series) yesterday almost at the end of our ride & it felt pretty comfy as compared to my Specialised indie xc. I don't care about that extra few grams on a seat & the bling. They should just do their part. I mean seriously, what's a 80g-100g gonna do-make you faster by 0.00001km/h? OK here are some pics of the 2 seats I had in mind
  20. I had a really nice ride yesterday except for going over a ladder & losing my balance & went crashing into a tree! Luckily I wasn't hurt at all, but my bikes front rim was bent badly (Std Alex rims). I managed to bend it into a (very) fair condition so that while riding you can't see it wobbling & I could enjoy the rest of the day. Obviously it's not true anymore, but I can utilise it for time being. OK that being said, now for the actual topic... I've heard good reviews on the DT Swiss X455 rims. Are these any good or should I opt for a higher model? Where can I get my hands on these? Thx J
  21. Thanx for all the replies! I've checked out the fizik gobi, but it seems to be faitly hard? Also if memory serves me correctly-there was a member posting having broken his gobi. I weigh in at 88kg so not the lightest rider. Will check out & let my @rse vote. Too bad I'm living in the Eastern Free State where a good LBS is hard to find. j
  22. Hey hubbers, Just to get some opinions on seats as I've tried some seats & still haven't fount the right 1. The seat that came on the bike was a X-mission (143mm) which isn't bad, but I heard a lot of good comments on the Specialized indie XC so I opted for it, but it's also not the "softest" of seats after a 2hour ride. Any opinions on selle Royal's Premium Dardo or the Lookin? They feel very plush & good priced. Thx. J
  23. yeah at least not in SA- here we blame apartheid
  24. As I lay Dying August Burns Red Benighted Blotted Science Charred Walls of the Damned Dark Tranquility Dead By April In Flames Iron Maiden Nightrage Obscura Origin Protest the Hero Scar Symmetry Times of Grace On & off the bike I love to listen to music & most of the time pretty much the same kind as mentioned above. Listen to stax all the time, but this is just what's on my player atm
  25. Isn't the saying going like: Make love not war? Sensitive topic like the ex-ex-ivy on here that will get banned.
