  1. I'm just trying to find out (without opening the Kickr) if that is the correct belt as higher models are more silent because of NO GROVES. V4 is 2018. I just found this post so a multi-groove belt is needed. E.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/405655436004?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D283843%2C284015%2C284136%26meid%3Dafe74c8aa1ce4596a5b2a0dadeb338a1%26pid%3D101875%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D196383856039%26itm%3D405655436004%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DSimVIDwebV3WithCPCExpansionEmbeddingSearchQuerySemanticBroadMatchSingularityRecallReplaceKnnV4WithVectorDbNsOptHotPlRecall%26brand%3DUnbranded%2FGeneric&_trksid=p2332490.c101875.m1851&itmprp=cksum%3A405655436004afe74c8aa1ce4596a5b2a0dadeb338a1|enc%3AAQAKAAABcHKEKKNMUePryBh1zZl0qrjonWK6%2Bbjh8v6%2FxTRbw1Loxqx736BoO2V7ozv6W4xuOBJjwGhPLWk9lnRB2teM6PFgOrZGVcTwpTth7MW79p066SWQrB1VasW1Di58xl1RMBXsH%2BaNxpzil0t8bdqbPkgJlZgvtHVYNSkxo5xG%2Bq21%2BZ7iLPlXBUopfGjDHni8osu7ZIFSpriEWDx2uDErqkYIodseU73Wz8oHpQMk9nAk5JXOlexFdXqj0g1fj3dMJgBUS0hL0EBEZTC%2FMngJAf7zy1RkQCcxk%2BApf7U%2FcGrbrMZWgKOalZd79jfOvKE%2Fb5wUR6Ah5o3xaoC%2BNd5%2FO%2FxReGWUA9DHAk%2Buisu%2FdTOcRigpVJK%2FKHpwwtyEtSoLthjNee6qT59YSXYGzHYN8aTFitfAfn4yf0b9mAW%2BwsPwdeaUrEIenwXwwNWruXPcRYHAjIQqnz%2FFKvJU%2FtPLhoV9XcFudDPhyo1OPj%2FPhv30|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2332490&itmmeta=01JRJH5W6HP18XWYPDG9Y3ACMC (
  2. Not too sure which thread is best to post this. So our Wahoo Kickr 4 power belt split in half... the rubber just came apart... no funny business by me or the kids. Wahoo does not replace these belts which doesn't seem logical to me! Has anyone experienced this or know if it is worth sourcing a belt from E.g. https://za.rs-online.com/web/c/mechanical-power-transmission/belts-pulleys/timing-belts/ I don't think the Kickr 4 Power belt has teeth - very hard to find details on this belt. Other option would be to find a 'dead' Kickr 4 and take that power belt. Pretty frustrating experience!! How can we get our kids to Pro level
  3. I've got the 2014 Giant Anthem Advanced and converted it to a 1 x 12 last month... wasn't worth replacing it with a > R100k similar 'modern' bike! I had the Alu Giant XTC hardtail for commuting but sadly the frame got kinked after a 'minor' 😁 accident at 65 km/h else I would still be using it!
  4. I upgraded 2 drivetrains in the last month. Bought an 1x12 SLX upgrade kit for my kids 11-speed and upgraded my XT 2x10 to XT 1x12. To summarize what was written: - Derailleur - Shifter - Chain - Front chain ring (will also be specific to your crank) - Cassette (my 10-speed hub could only fit a 12-speed Sunrace cassette). I I wanted XT I would have had to fit a new freehub which wasn't worth it - so THIS will be your biggest challenge. Evo & Bike Addict often have GREAT upgrade specials E.g. https://evobikes.co.za/product/shimano-slx-1-x-12-upgrade-kit/ & https://bike-addict.co.za/products/shimano-xt-m8100-12-speed-upgrade-kit?_pos=5&_sid=6487f4482&_ss=r
  5. Interesting to read this story as my wife is close to ending her 'pro' career, after 16 years in the sport. It still surprises me that so few women managed to get to e.g. Carla, Ash and even Jo's level after all these years of following women's cycling. That alone shows you it's not easy to get there no mater the talent and not easy to stay there either! You need to have the right people / support structure in place, aim to get noticed in a positive way and as mentioned state what you can give back to sponsors and will do to promote women's cycling. It's one of the most expensive / demanding sports, in terms of training, gear and travel so without financial backing, passion and clear goals it's tough!
  6. Well done Matt and the Team!! I lost my first registered username from 2005... makes me feel pretty old and takes me back to the UCT Cycling Club days with Matt, Jaco, Neil, Will, Clyde... I was the newbie back then (not much has changed ;))! This has been an entertaining & insightful place with some sad occasions too!!
  7. https://sgbservice.co.za/ Jaco no doubt!
  8. Let me look in my draws tonight... my faulty V800 with new strap should still be there. Will PM you. UPDATE: Strap found & pick-up arranged
  9. We bought his house In Fairland when he relocated, but we meanwhile moved again. Was awesome to have such a BIG garage!! When he heard about my bad accident 6 years ago he went past his old house but I wasn't back from the hospital yet... he called / e-mailed me to check all was fine.
  10. Great topic. Our kids, 8 & 10 (started racing their mtbikes last year) have a pretty talented mom (4th at SAs Road Elite this year) so we know the amount of work and stress needed to get to (and stay at) the top level and try keep the pressure off our kids as they must just have fun! What I found amazing is that kids gear (24/27.5/29) at those ages is a bit unfair / unequal re podium places. On that note we just found a nice 26 carbon KTM with 27.5 wheels - haha. He's already eying his mons S-works Epic!! Buy 2nd hand!! Spoke to a dad last weekend who just got his 13-year old a bargain R125k S-works!! Madness! Our kids also did a skills course last year as they need to get the basics right! I raced with the older one last year and was pretty impressed he got a 2nd place (Wartburg) Sprog on his first race by himself! He must have listened to me guiding him last year Also, a 1 x is a winner for kids... our 8-year old has a 3x9 but battles to change the front gears so he's got a 1x9! Only fit them shoes and cleats when they comfortable and ready! Other factors to consider is handlebar width and crank length - still finding out what's best given availability!
  11. JM Rides Bikes gave you the solution. I had the exact same problem when it was windy. Moved the clamp one lower and all sorted.
  12. In Nederland kennen ze niets van koffie dus heb je zeker een kwaliteit machine nodig Laat het smaken!
  13. I suppose in mtbiking they often have a chicken run which isn't really an option in Gravel. When my wife (mainly a roadie) did the Karkloof 60 km she stopped a few times before some crazy drops and asked herself WTF must we do here and while she walked a few of them to avoid damage some women/men flew down past her! They had done those drops a few times the day before, but even then she still would have walked them given her technical skills In gravel one can slow right down / walk if it's above ones ability, no need to amend the route! Combining a mass event with SAs isn't easy but given CSA budget... unavoidable!
  14. We got the Rockhopper Expert 27.5... my kids was 9.5 when we got it and he loves it... 1 x 12 makes their lives SO much easier and if they do races one cannot compete on a 24/26 inch. Then there is no need to buy a bigger bike in 1 years time! Best to see if it fits though as my kid is pretty short, like his dad, so I was surprised it fitted him so well.
  15. I've competed at Nationals for years before & after I got my Non-SA Citizen ID. 4th was my best result but wondered if I could actually 'officially' win it - hence I left the podium spots for others - LOL.
  16. Must be the frustration of missing out on Olympics (road) on a course that would have suited her... now Ash will get support for... I better keep quiet
  17. I've been descaling my Mythos (religiously) every month and wanted to know how often it is required... but it seems like my Mythos keeps track of that and gave me a notification (I assume based on usage) to descale
  18. Quick question: How often would you recommend to descale your Bean to Cup machine in Joburg (I have a Mythos) and which mixture would you recommend that can easily be purchased and is affordable - thanks!! I've been using the Dezcal descaler sachets (28 grams) which I mix in the water container before activating the Descale option on my machine. It's been a while - howsit all :)
  19. Nexus sorted this out very smoothly at a reasonable price - the surge had fried most of the electronics!! Got the machine back just in time!!
  20. Does anyone have any experience with a Power Surge hitting a Mythos X1 OT Bean to cup machine by any tiny small chance... A power surge hit our road The insurance appointed electronics company declared the machine dead and max payout is R5k per item But they said they will return the machine to me. Would it be worth having the coffee machine expert - e.g. Nexus have the machine checked out. Besides Nexus - anyone closer who could assess it - I'm Fairland based. Don't they have a fuse?! Thanks - dankie - ngiyabonga!
  21. Does anyone know who can service a Mythos X1 OT coffee machine besides Nexus in Pretoria? I'm in the Fairland / NorthCliff area so ideally want to find a service place that's not 60 km away. Nexus has been great so if I can find a gap I'll make the trip or get it couriered there and back. Looks like I've got a pressure (valve) issue Thanks!
  22. I would have changed banks a long time ago... but this is making me NOT do it! I only use it for SARS as wife and I share her account, meaning I do everything in her name No need to pay bank fees x 2 and easy to get to Ebucks reward level 5
  23. I submitted yesterday and payment received today!!
  24. My wife's holiday cycling stats - 2 weeks and 2 days: Sunday: 54.74 km - 2h2m - 457 m Week 1: 784.4km - 27h20m - 6,510m Week 2: 712.5km - 28h37m - 11,128m Monday: 104.64 km - 4h1m - 698 m TOTAL 1656km CSA African Championships and CSA EU trip prep! Cycling in Belgium and Spain (Banyoles - what a great place Ash and her parents are finishing off - https://www.rocacorbacycling.cc/) Even I will battle soon to keep up with her on the road - I blame my kid sitting duties
  25. Slightly OFF topic but need some advise... My commuter GIANT XTC 9-speed didn't survive (alu top tube kinked and was advised not to ride fast with it anymore if fixed) my 28 Feb 2018 commuting crash... repairs on wheels etc would be > R5k. I've been using my Giant Anthem Advanced 29'er Full Suss since I was allowed to ride again but there is no need for a full suss to commute and the maintenance isn't cheap. So I'm looking for an affordable commuter bike. A gravel bike perhaps (not many affordable ones available second hand) or do I just stick to a 26'er given I have parts like tires, chain, cassette (9-speed though). Else I try sell my 9-speed parts and go 26'er or 29'er 10 speed. I have 300 m altitude gain on my 13 km to work so a fixie isn't an option and I don't want something too heavy as time is money and I'm often broken after an Engen ride/race before my commute
