  2. Should work well if Google is to be believed

  4. After 2 years of commuting I've learnt that if you are not assertive and not make your intentions very clear you'll be run over FAST.
  5. Got it from www.kue.co.za - was about R2k for 20 sheets (40*1600*500). Wasn't easy to find a dealer close to my house - these guys were only 2km away!
  6. My wall sound proofing project... fitting 40mm Isover Soundlite board against 1 cm wooden slats I bolted to the wall - the 1cm gap ensure the sound waves are broken up a bit. Still need to fit a solid door or perhaps another door. To finish it off I'll fit rhinoboards against it. Our nanny is a bit loud one her phone and my sons room is adjacent to her room.
  7. I commute around 28km return trip daily so I must be close to 5,000 km for the year... i think I missed (using car or scooter) about 10 trips this year due to meetings. The amazing thing is that I only got soaked 6 times out of about 400 one way trips! Gotta love Joburg. I do time my rides a bit to avoid rain... If I see a bus coming and it's narrow I move over to the middle of the lane to ensure they don't squeeze me off the road!
  8. What's the advise on servicing a shock? Bike shops will tell you after 80-100 riding hours depending on the shock... but for some that would mean R1k every 6 months. I commute to work so don't strain my shock as hard or is the type of riding irrelevant? Finally which bike shop has good suspension mechanics? And don't tell me to search the forums
  9. With the predicted cold & rainy weather Saturday will be a challenging / epic stage!
  10. Does anyone remember the classic photo Rob (Big German Rob) posted with "Big H s..ks d..k" in the snow in Germany nogal... fireworks I tell you!
  11. I'm waiting for the 29 men in front of me to be found out
  12. I tried oil and must also be applied weekly.
  13. My kitchen counters are driving me mad (mainly cos wifey isn't careful with spilling water ). Besides applying Woodoc wax or similar - WEEKLY - is there anything else that can be done? Water stains the wood Varnishing isn't an option right?
  14. Hey Bodger - a little bit much unrelated but why do you have Alpacas in your profile pic? My sister runs an Alpaca farm in Belgium hence me asking... or did you recently travel to South America... www.alpacaflanders.be
  15. Perhaps they must get Ash to do a Hill hunt when she's back in the country
  16. Berario (Fairland) - it arrived from Hillcrest KZN last weekend.
  17. I've been given this nice piece of yellow wood by the inlaws (so I can't sell it lol) : 600 x 2100 and 60 thick. Picture shows the back of it, not the nice side. Who can assist to turn this into a coffee table or provide suggestions of any other original ideas. Feel free to PM me with quote(s)
  18. Submitted my return, submitted supporting docs, received completion letter and NO refund... only to find out (after calling them) I need to go into a branch for an audit... They clearly not keen on paying anyone without verification!
  19. Back in the day (pre 2013) when my wife was pro and I trained 6 days a week with her (about 2.5 hrs a ride) I would have had a chance Two kids later very little time left for cycling ;(
  20. Yup - nutec tends to get brittle after a few years when exposed to rain / sun if not treated on all sides. I would plaster the wall (properly) and paint some nice designs on it (like Bougainvilleas - low maintenance plants )
  21. I've been hit by 2 side mirrors within a week, twice on narrow roads... I usually ride in the middle of the road when it's narrow but that's not always possible as you may get moered by a taxi or a bus. At least both drivers slowed down and apologised - but scary they didn't do this intentionally!! I won't mention the gender
  22. So I was Googling stud finder and found an App for it, although probably not as accurate as the real deal but pretty cool. I then also found an app for a spirit level. Can anyone think of other useful DIY apps? - Stud Detector - Bubble
  23. I thought of that and fill it with foam but just afraid the door may have too many compartments.
  24. Sorry, Gauteng. If found these guys: www.doorsdirect.co.za but shipping would be R750 or so. http://www.doorsdirect.co.za/sl-hardboard-fire-door-2
