  1. Bleeding Someones Brakes Sometimes Breaks Somethings... It's rather common, BSBSBS or BS for short. You seem to have a bad case of the BS
  2. I'm certainly going to do a X1 build project soon, not for weight but to test the simplicity and practicality of it. I'm afraid of the usability in real life situations which require almost immediate swings from high to low or vice versa. Tests in switchbacks and unexpected obstacles, etc
  3. Hhahahaha, yes... I have experienced this, sounds like you also have. It's like JB said, anyone with a CAD system can "design a standard", in this case I think it's however more the terminology standard that comes into question?
  4. Ha! ... for the first time I have an opportunity to differ in opinion with JB and Patches... whooop hoooo My comment was based on my thinking that most "new" frames, especially the carbon ones are often advertised as "semi-integrated", because they have a head-tube-race built into the head tube.. as opposed to a "fully integrated" one where the bearing sit directly in a "machined" head-tube.... A good example of this "semi-integrated" design is as per my LOOK MTB you help me built a couple months back JB? the bearing just push into the frame onto an integrated race... I've built 2 carbon road bikes during the last 6 weeks where this was exactly the case, the Headset is advertised as "semi-integrated" but really it's FULLY integrated... So, I'm still betting that the OP's bike will not require a press-fit installation other than for a couple of fingers...
  5. I'd just put a good quality frame protection kit over exposed area's... clear coating is really not required.. and it's going to be a pain to do... not as simple as you might think, and if the oke that is doing it is not super skilled you will end up with runs, different thickness, etc etc... Also, please be careful when taking tools to bolts, I hate it when old/cheap tools and/or stupid people ruin the bolt heads, it ends up looking so crap....
  6. Lol, would love to see someone use a press-fit tool to install a semi-integrated headset... It's like eating candy floss with a knife and fork.... perfectly possible, but stooopid
  7. Uhm... semi-integrated headsets are usually used in carbon frames, and you just push them in with your fingers... almost impossible to do it wrong unless your a real "tool". It's the threadless (inset) types that require more careful installation... As for the crown installation, go buy a pvc pipe, and use it to press it over the steerer, you can get enough force using your hands only, dont even need a hammer
  8. Wow, very nice... congratulations!!!!! just the frame and then it's ready to rock and roll??? Ps, can't remember, do you have a headset yet? Oh... and the XTR BB is Black too.....
  9. From where/who in Germany? Bike24? they are super slow to dispatch, use DHL for their leg, but it's handed over to SAPO when it gets here... I get stuff from them every now and then....
  10. LOL, for me to comment we should first establish which "me" we are talking about... "TheV" (respect the caps in the "T" and "V") or the the human me? Because on here I am The-omniscient-V
  11. 1. The green SC is not mine... just a quick google search to show how to route the front hose... 2. My comment re the pro/lbs not building the bike is directly related to a certain SA based concern who repeatedly post pics of their builds with anomalies ranging from using dropper post routing for brake/shifting to all kinds of other weird and wonderful ways of routing cables and hoses.... Ps, I'm not really for real... my online persona is ever-evolving... thank you for acknowledging my post
  12. I like it... think it has a place, will "PoP" in the right application and dosages....
  13. Good on you for trying the sections... sorry to hear about your injury... However, from my personal experience I find it's better to just go for it "the first time around"... you will have better speed and a more natural reaction... as opposed to walking it and then face the anticipation and adrenalin that takes over on your second run, because your speed and confidence takes a dive and then you make silly mistakes... I am not saying go and ride every new route balls to the wall blindly, but rather do exactly what you did... i.e walk the section, take an opinion on it, muster up the courage that you feel comfortable to try riding it, and then come back on another day and ride it.... or take a second loop later the same day... (I'm talking about new'ish riders trying to build confidence and skills)... if you have been riding for a long time and have a good technical base then it's a totally different story of course....
  14. Now you are just talking Kuk.... Just fix it! Make it look like this!!!! http://www.bicycling.com/sites/default/files/images/Sid29_Tapered_HP.jpg
  15. Difference between Endurance and Fitness? Sounds like fun... hope you guys enjoy the ride!
  16. Oooooh, let me tell you the engineering and finish of the XTR chainset never fails to impress me...
  17. Those there are the very very latest M675 brakes, even later than the M666... at under R2000 they cannot be beat in terms of value or performance or finish, or features, they are also i-Spec compatible. My advice was to spend the saving made on the SLX brakes on the XTR i-Spec Shifters (bad picture pose) and also the XTR Shadow+ RD.... The XTR chainset was however all her..... she really WANTED that!!!
  18. Aaah... you didn't pose the XTR RD correctly D..... how are people supposed to see it's the Shadow+ clutch version??? It's like taking a picture of Pam Andersons rear.... it just doesn't tell the "full" story!!!!
  19. N0!? i do have carbon bikes... and if someone is going to "void" your warranty because of the application of protective film then tell them to go F.F themselves. Thats such a stupid statement to make from any supplier or distributor....
  20. Uhm... this bike was not built by a professional/LBS, so I will take it easy... however, really need to route the front hose on the inside of the forks..
  21. I use special frame protection kits that come with a 5 year warranty, I usually apply to downtube (rocks/bumps/etc) , top tube (cleats, carrier), rear triangle on top of seat stays and below/side of chainstays... but it's a REAL bitch to install... Would have offered to install it for you "if" you had allowed me to build the bike....
  22. Fantastic!!!! Really cool build.... stem?
  23. I'm going to take your word for it and try a set on my next project....
  24. I was just informed there is a problem with your specific pair, I'll refund you, please send them back ASAP. I will put them on one of my other bikes just to make sure they are okay....
  25. You have 2012 XT Brakes an you are asking about brakes? Dude... it's like dating Halle Berry and still wondering if you should try and flirt with Angelina Jolie.... just let it go... save it for another time. I've said it before, I'd say it again, you CANNOT upgrade from a set of XT 2012 brakes..... everything else will be a downgrade... or at most be "similar" in performance (R1).
