  1. I also battle to load the site with a normal 3G connection, but at home with my ADSL line it is not to bad. I must add, since I had my Bryton they upgraded the site and load much easier now than previously. Yes, Bryton have regular updates and that improved my GPS with a few functions. I prefer that my data is on the net due to that I can access or show a route to friends and family without having my own computer with me. I just lock on using any computer with internet access and have all my data available anywhere I go!
  2. I actually like this!!!
  3. Have to agree with you! I have a Merida HT and the Anthem 29er and I still enjoy ride both of them! Differant horses for different terrain :-)
  4. My Anthem X 29 er came in at 11.5 kg.
  5. I have the Bryton 50 and on Monday I contacted Ballistic trading regarding my HR Monitor that was giving me some problems. Without any issues, no hassles at all, my new HR Monitor arrived at my front door without any cost to me!! Now THAT is service considering that I am in Durban and Ballistic trading is in Johannesburg. Thank you Jason and his team! If I have to bay again, it will be a Bryton again!
  6. I had the same problem wife my wife bike that is a GT. Take the wheel and the cluster off. Pour some oil between the cluster housing and the cluster and spin it. There is thin grove where the oil must run into and a lot of oil wil go to waiste, but eventually oil will get in. That sorted the GT out untll now! I hope my explanation make sense thou :-) :-)
  7. i also would like to know where is the usual spot? I got a Athem X (2011 ) and is going to **** in my pants if that silver frame crack! :-) From what I understand here, they dont replace the frame with a 2011 frame, but with the 2012 frame? And now that I think about it, can anybody please tell me what the warantee is on these frames (2011 )
  8. I cant comment on the Garmin, but I have a Briton 50 and that is awesome with great after service local! Better priced as well.
  9. I personally would try and found out where the tyre leak. My friend tubeless was leaking at the valve. We simply cut a piece of tube and press the tubeless valve through it on the inside of the rim....work like a bom!!
  10. That is what I love of the Hub! Everytime i am in doubt, just ask and somebody WILL know!! I oiled the strans with some thin oil (chain lube) and worked it properly in. Took the bike out this afternoon and pushed it hard through some rocky sections and shock was like new! Not even a sign of any stickiness. Thank you everybody, you certainly safed me a few bob with your knowledge!
  11. Thanks Mike. I checked the presure now again and put some oil on the shafts leading into the shock. I compress the shocked a few times and is working fine, but I will take it for ride this afternoon and check it out. If i still have any problems, i will contact the LBS where I bought the bike from and hope and pray they not full of stories like normally:-) :-) Thank you for your assistance!
  12. I checked the air yesterday before I ride. The shock is not loosing any air in anyway. I will try lube today and check it out. I am not hard type of ryder and not doing a lot of tecknical stuff and that is why I am so surprised that the shock is giving me hassles. Thanks for the advise :-)
  13. Thank you Mike!! Got the service manuel, any idea where I can get spares for this shock?
  14. I bought a bike in August 2011 with the above shock. I did about 1800 km on this bike of witch 800 was on tar road and the shock on lockout. My last two rides while ridding with the shock I notice that the shock compress about 50% and seems to get stuck there. When i pulled on the handle bars, it actually does release and extend again untill another few km and stuck again. Firstly, I dont know if this shock is still under under warranty, and if it is, the LBS where i bought the bike is an idiot and would in anyway tell me it is out of warranty. Secondly, if the shock needs a service, is there anybody in Durban area that can service it? Thirdly, how difficult is it to service myself and where can I get the spares for the shock? Your advice wold be appreciated
  15. My wife broke her knee on two places. Doctors told her that she must just forget about any cycling for the next year! Although she can walk now, she started to do some slow exercise on a spinner. With an injury i think it is best to follow doctor orders to avoid any further injury later that could be more permanent.
  16. Ellingham Estate....35, 27 and 17 route. Well marked and a great ride! Oja, Ellingham is at Rocky Bay.
  17. I dont have a Garmen, but the Briton Ryder 50. Toss the sensor and just stick with the GPS unit.......way better and no need to worry if that stupid magnet is actually in place when going through humps and bumps.
  18. What is the components on the bike?
  19. My daughter bike have these brakes on her Merida. This morning she was complaining that she could hear it rub against the disk. So, me knowing it all decided to loosen the caliper, press the brake and tighten the nuts again......exacly what I did with my Shimano brakes. Now it seems there is a lot of "play " and by pulling the brake lever it goes all the way to the handle before it grip and brake. Is there a way to adjust these brakes?
  20. I am also in the DIY thing with a nice thick book, google and the hub, but there is a few things that i dont want take on because it just look very complicated. Shocks for one. For these i would prefer that a bike shop do it, but where do you find a proper shop that you can trust and atleast know what they are doing. Most bike shops employ Tom, Dick and Harry....that never serviced a bike of R300 to work on bikes that is worth 30+k??? My question is.....do they actuality sent Tom, Dick and Harry on a caurse or something to work on these bikes, or is it a case of cost saving and teach themself by trail and error on our expence? Is that not the reason why we get poor service results as most of the people earning R100 a day is left to work on bikes without proper training. I am also on my 5 bike shop in Durban area and there is not a lot left. Who is next? We seriously need a proper bike shop with proper bike service centre on the South Coast of Durban.....
  21. I am so glad that I am not the only one that having trouble with elixir cr brakes! I think it is the biggest crap ever designed and will definitely replace it with XT or XTR.
  22. +10000
  23. Not cool at all. Personally I find this offensive. That is still a person and not his/her fault for being in such a condition. If i were you, i would rather go on my knees and say thank and not making a joke from it...........or maybe you are retarded!
  24. +1000000000000 We really need a decent bike shop in Durban! To be more specific ........ we need a bike shop in the South Coast.
  25. Both my bikes is tubeless. One is a 26" and the other 29". Got one saddle bag that I switch between the bikes that contain two tubes.....one 26 and one 29. From what i heard and stand to be corrected, you can actually use the 26 tube in a 29 for emergency. Don't have a pump on the bikes.....got three CO2 canisters in the bag. If that is not enough, it will be me standing next to the road asking, begging and borrow! Must be honest, since I switch to tubeless I never had a flat. I factually believe in stans and think it is the best thing behalf sliced bread.
