  1. LC, meant to send you a message. Thank's, I got the stuff.
  2. Happy Birthday AA 50 is young, so enjoy. Thanks for outing this and keeping us all entertained for the last couple of days. I must admit I thought it was an April Fools joke at first. Or perhaps I should have said April's Fool (before the grammar police nab me)
  3. Always good to ask questions. Always bad to make assumptions. Always wise to wait for all the facts before pronouncing.
  4. Not sure who you are, but I can guess. Perhaps it would help your cause if you asked your council to answer some of the allegations, at least it would set some minds (probably some of your exiting customers) at rest, at least a little easier!
  5. Assuming AA tells the truth and does not lie (and why would we suspect otherwise), his original post answers much of the last two pages of negativity!
  6. Repeat after me: The Hub is wise. The Hub is good. and many hubbers are misunderstood!
  7. And if you do, don't post it on the H. Wish you luck Andrew. Hope next time you come around, you're on the top!
  8. I love the white tyres, mind you, I love everything about your work.
  9. +1 That would be my estimate. Complete bike, Nago Dream, or other, with Record 10spd will go for between 7 and 10k
  10. Yeah right!!!! $3000 is almost R33k, I didn't have that many $, nowhere near, I managed to find the FD and the Cobaltos for $418. So still expensive, but I have a friend who's coming out soon and he'll bring them with him.
  11. The last of my US$ Now broke for a couple of months!
  12. I know I've got a complete 7400 somewhere. Let me look and I'll send some pics
  13. Javadude, I take it you live in Aus. Are you still collecting?
  14. Busy trying to get the FD. But the full group price runs about £2000, so work it out in Ronds. LC, DA 7400 crank? I might have one spare
  15. Sorry, Qb, but the deltas are sold, that's why I was cleaning them up. BUT, look what I just bought, not sure it was wise, but what the hell!
  16. THOUGHTS! I've had these a while, but just cleaned them up. Beautiful, but both have 'scrapes' on the top sides. I thought this could be caused by cable rub, but the scrapes seem to be more than cable rub. Any ideas???
  17. LC's Colnago X-lite. Maybe he's too modest to post it here, or maybe he thinks it's not retro enough. But she really is a beauty!
  18. Jules Can't remember where I found this, but I found it somewhere in the interwebs! It'll help you date the frame anyway. AND MAYBE GIVE YOU SOME INFO ON YOURS LC The top three Bianchi bike models from the late 70s to the mid 80s were the Tipo Corsa, Super Leggera, and Super Corsa, plus the Specialissima frame set (came in Celeste). The Tipo Corsa used the cheaper Columbus Alle tubing, and the Super Leggera, Super Corsa and Speciallisima frameset were made with Columbus SL and Colubus SP depending on the frame size (I think the over 57cm c-t size frames were SP). Yes, there was a Specialissima in the 80s but it was sold as a frame set, not as a complete bike. In the 1960s there was a bike model called the Specialissima (the few that I have seen were black). I believe this was the second model down from the team bike (always Celeste). There was a fairly recent discussion (argument) on the list about the model name "Specialissima" being interchangeable with the model name "Super Leggera". A famous (infamous) earlyexlistmember said he had a 1978 Bianchi catalog that showed a "mod. Specialissima Super Leggera" as proof that the two names were interchangeable. I countered with this example of a "mod. Specialissima Corsa Professionale" <http://bulgier.net/p...ianchi1/9h.jpg> that I believe shows the team bike from 1968 to 1973, to show the names were not used interchangeably. Incidentally, I would guess that the Bianchi mod. Super Leggera dates to Campagnolo's introduction of it's Superleggera parts in 1971. Bianchi went from the semi flat fork crown to the aero fork crown in 1985 with the introduction of their Centinario 100th anniversary bike. Two sets of water bottle bosses and semi-sloping dropouts was the early 90s bikes I believe. 1981: - Tipo Corsa, Columbus Aelle tubing, Nuovo Record equipped - Super Leggera, Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record reduced, chrome head lugs - Super Corsa - Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record, chrome head lugs 1982: - Tipo Corsa, Columbus Aelle tubing, Nuovo Record equipped - Super Leggera, Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record reduced, no chrome head lugs - Super Corsa, Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record, no chrome head lugs 1983: - Tipo Corsa, Columbus Aelle tubing, Nuovo Record equipped - Super Leggera, Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record reduced, no chrome head lugs - no Super Corsa offered - Specialissima frame, no chrome head lugs, no model name on top tube, celeste paint 1984: - Tipo Corsa, Columbus Aelle tubing, Nuovo Record equipped - Super Leggera, Columbus SL & SP tubing, Super Record reduced, no chrome head lugs - no Super Corsa offered - Specialissima frame, no chrome head lugs, no model name on top tube, celeste paint 1985 intro aero fork crown: - Centenario 1986: - Super Leggera, Columbus SL & SP, Chorus Syncro, aero fork crown Here's the Bianchi catalog scans on Mark Bulgier's web site (linked from the links page on my www.velo-retro.com web site too). Below are my best estimates on the dates of the catalogs shown. Anyone have more accurate date info? Unfortunately the bike specification pages were not scanned for the catalogs on the site. <http://bulgier.net/p.../bike/Catalogs> '70s Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi1 1981 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi81 1981 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi3 1983 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi4 1984 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi2 1985 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi6 1986 Bianchi Catalog <dir> bianchi5 Super Leggera '82 (chrome on head lugs): <http://bulgier.net/p...bianchi3/7.jpg> Super Corsa '82 bike (chrome on head lugs): <http://bulgier.net/p...bianchi3/8.jpg> Super Leggera '83 bike (no chrome on head lugs): <http://bulgier.net/p...bianchi4/8.jpg> Specialissima '83 frame set specs: <http://bulgier.net/p...ianchi4/9b.jpg> <http://bulgier.net/p...ianchi4/9c.jpg> Specialissima '84 frame set specs: http://bulgier.net/p.../bianchi2/9.jpg
  19. Check on YouTube, there are a whole bunch of DIY movies on just this, and just about everything else!!
  20. Seat post is probably 27.2, all my Hansoms are that size. Tubing was probably 531, though later models, you should be able to tell by the forks (square or sloping crown), could be 753, even 853. I don't know the tandems, but could also be 525, which was popular on lower end Hansoms. Even seen a couple of 501 frames. Probably a good idea to try to determine the age. There was another Hansom advertised here, a shop in Grahamstown. If this is not the same one, maybe ask them for some detailed pics to compare.
  21. I started mountain biking about 87/88. My first MTB was a YAKOTA, not much to break. No front suspension, no back suspension, probably 36 spoke wheels and Deore, I'm not sure there were any other groupos. My first full suser was an OFFROAD. Garvin (I think) flexi stem and another polymer at the back, probably gave 2cm travel. All steel, Tange I think, so probably weighed 15kg. Not much to break, had until a couple of years ago, then gave it away, sadly.
  22. SWEEEEEET
  23. I've used all the methods described above: Cardboard bike box - trashed by American Airlines and by Air Mauritius, wet & in pieces Qatar Bike Bag - not trashed, but torn to shreds by Emirates, Air Mauritius, SAA and others BIKe box - IMHO a bike box is the way to go. I know weight is a problem, but your bike is safe
