  1. Dont think I've seen a TT bike with a sloping top tube before? look mean though.
  2. 1.79m 28years old April 2008 - 60kg, 2.9% - but landed up in hospital November 2008 - 65kg, 5.6% - Still recovering... Just a warning about low body fat, You need fat, my organs stop functioning because mine was too low, developed Myocarditis, and now will have heart problems for the rest of my life...
  3. have you tried "the Mast" here in Cape Town? Crickey, just carries on-and-on... 905m of acsent.
  4. I have a new respect for MTB'ers... The hills are just a different class. No road rider can say he/she can climb until they go off-road! Arguably the most notorius 'road' climb in Cape Town, Ou Kaaps, looked like a mole hill from the Mast. The climb to the mast was relentless, just carried on and on, getting steeper the higher you went... 905m of ascent, we took it fairly easy and made it to the top in about 1h20 (including stops) I tried a bit of singletrack, and in about 50m I fell twice, think I need to work on that... THE PICTURES... http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/08112008001.jpg Myself at the top http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/08112008004.jpg Weekend Warrior http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/08112008002.jpg Back of Table Mountain http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/08112008003.jpg False Bay http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/08112008005.jpg The Mast
  5. I'm confused, is it the Dark; Brown or Dirty side - Or the dark-brown-dirty side... ??? Plan for the 1st ride this weekend, the mast and Noordhoek peak. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/mastNoordehoek.jpg
  6. Ask Weekend Warrior' date=' he falls gracefully and knows a couple of good words while airborne. Oh, and he is also strong on the climbs.[/quote'] Thanks, Weekend Warrior has offered his services in exchange for road riding tips... We going to race to the Mast, so we'll see how strong his climbing is... My 60kg's vs. his 75+kgs... LOLcarlo_sg2008-11-06 07:27:07
  7. LOL! Thanks for all the positive comments. Now all I need is someone to teach me how to ride!
  8. Never ever ridden a MTB, and after a few near misses and three direct hits in the traffic, I decided to move my training off-road... Scott Scale 35 Full XT, Fox Shock, XT hubs - DT swiss spokes - Mavic rims I upgraded the standard tyres to a tubeless conversion with Maxxis Cross-mark UST tyres. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll253/carlo_sg/06112008.jpgcarlo_sg2008-11-10 00:40:14
  9. Thanks Captain... Your Scott was the motivator, that thing looked like a BEAST
  10. I'm in exactly the same boat... I've done pretty well in Road, but training in the traffic is just getting too dangerous - I'm picking up my new MTB this aftenoon. I just bought a Scott Scale 35, comes with full XT, Fox Fork, Pedals and weighs a touch over 11kg. I traded in the OEM tyres for a Tubeless conversion kit and some Maxxis Cross Mark UST tyres (at no extra cost!)
  11. Bruce what you reckon? 20% more? LA = 400watts? I seem to remember reading an article a while ago where they said LA's hour hour threshold was 460watts!!!
  12. Robert Quinn... A force to be reckoned with! And just so happens to be a nice guy too.

  15. cant find a review on SLX, but here's a couple on the 202's http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/wheels/wheelsets/zipp-speed-weaponry/PRD_321159_5845crx.aspx
  16. I heard a rumour that one bike shop has orders for 8 Astana Treks, the frame alone is R50,000.... There is still a lot of money out there. Fewer sales, but bigger margins. Those who can afford it, are going to flaunt it.
  17. Upper pulley is the Guide pulley, lower is the Tension pulley, the guide pulley (upper one) has the float in it. Hope this helps you
  18. I wouldnt swop them around, one pulley "floats" which aid shifting, and the other is on a sealed bearing, I think they were switched around you'll have shifting problems
  19. was there a serial number on? Yes there was (was at another shop to the one I think you're hinting at...) But scratching the serial number off will only save about 2g per wheel... Still no where near the spec weight - LOL!
  20. I saw a set at a bike shop in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town for R7200 brand new. I weighed them and they were over 1500g
  21. If you're going for clinchers, get the Mavic Cosmic Carbones. Yes, they heavier etc, etc. But they tougher than a german barmaid working for tips in a biker pub. Seriously, maintenace free, and with the state of our roads, you going to need something that can hit a pothole faster than 10km/h without pulling a spoke out of the rim... Nevermind the tools they come with, so you can even do minor work yourself. Seriously - Great wheels!
  22. I think the thread you are looking for is this one. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=32107&KW=raleigh
